As we lurch through the first few weeks of 1998, the future of one star-driven, big budget video seems in doubt, another has yet to materialize and one of the industry’s most powerful editors will apparently step down from his post. And it’s only January! As noted elsewhere on this site, award-winning director Jerry Douglas will apparently abandon the much-anticipated Idol Gods video starring, of course, Ryan Idol. When in town for December’s Gay Erotic Video Awards, Mr. Douglas told me he doubted that the project would happen anytime soon. He did however praise the vid’s premise as a vehicle for Mr. Idol. In any case, Mr. Douglas’ fans should waste no tears. The director, recently inducted into the Adult Video News Hall of Fame, is itching to start filming his dream project, “my porn masterpiece” he quipped.
