Gay XXX and the mainstream unexpectedly crossed this week with “Time” magazine’s porno-rific cover of swimming phenom Michael Phelps (their 08/09 issue). The nineteen-year-old is poised to make Olympic history in Athens later this month. The sexy “Time” cover features the young buck nearly naked, his tanned torso rippling with lean muscle. He is wearing a tiny, dark-blue Speedo and the portrait cutely blurs out his nether regions, just a tad, so you can’t get a clear look at his package. Listen, “Time” editors, go all the way or go home. Meanwhile, I have a dozen or so recent, nearly identical Pacific Sun box covers that are just as blazingly hot, without the tease.

It had to be crappy week for Chad Savage. The ex-porn pup last made a video in 2002. He’s trying to live a normal life and today works as a valet. The venue which employs him as a valet is a famous Republican retreat. Some bitter queen who works with Mr. Savage recognized him and decided to call Page Six in the “New York Post,” which ran with the story. And all of a sudden anyone who reads the scandal sheets now knows that Chad Savage works as a valet for the Bohemian Grove in Central California. The kid gets a (temporary) pass from me for working at a right-wing stomping ground; it’s tough enough for a former skin star to land on his feet without some bloodless homo attempting to stoke a faux-scandal.

As Los Angeles wilts in an uncharacteristically humid heat wave (thanks, global warming!) it’s become virtually impossible to chain the “Adams Report” staff to their desks. Our vacation continues apace; several terrific interviews are being transcribed as we speak. Look for them in the next several weeks. In the meantime, on to some business. Goddess knows we want an empty in-box when we get back to work sometime before Christmas.
