Have you checked out Fleshbot.com yet? If you’re a porn aficionado with a semblance of a sense of humor (I know, I know, that disqualifies fully one-third of this business) you ought to check it out. It’s part of the Gawker Media Empire that covers New York-centric Gawker.com, Los Angeles-based Defamer.com and, among others, that New Kool Kid on the blogging block, Wonkette.com, a Washington D.C.-oriented gossip site. Fleshbot’s mandate is porn, gay and straight, with a healthy dash of good humor and snarkiness.

Whew, it’s quiet out there in GayPornLand. Chalk it up to a pre-holidays slowdown, I guess. We’ve already amply covered "XXX: 30 Porn Star Portraits" by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, and the Geoffrey Karen Dior Memorial Fundraiser. Chi Chi LaRue’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks, but there’s no word as yet if she’ll be throwing one of her mega-bashes. (Ms. LaRue and other industryites are currently in Berlin for an adult business convention.) Colt Studio is making news with BUCKLEROOS but that’s covered in a long-delayed upcoming column; same deal for NakedSword.com and Jet Set’s WET PALMS series (which is giving BUCKLEROOS a run for its PR money.)

Yee-haw, it’s time for another star-spangled edition of Press Release Roundup. (Yeah, I’m a bit overfed on cowboy porn, thanks to BUCKLEROOS.) First up, however, it was announced that the Geoffrey Karen Dior Memorial Fundraiser on October 10th raised $1500 for local HIV/AIDS nonprofit L.A. Shanti. With a ten-dollar door donation that means roughly 150 people were in attendance; I counted about sixty, but I wasn’t there for the entire three hours.

This week Los Angeles County health officials again urged the porn industry to require the use of condoms, as well as to have all models vaccinated for hepatitis A and B. This follows the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CalOSHA) fining two straight porn companies $31,000 apiece for allegedly allowing their models to have unprotected sex. A similar letter was mailed in August to gay and straight companies from Assemblyman Paul Koretz (D-West Hollywood).
