INDUSTRY UPDATE: Luca DiCorso’s Naked Yoga
July 27, 2007 | 1 Comment
Rascal Video exclusive Luca DiCorso is on something of a break from XXX, but he’s been keeping busy. The scruffily pretty stud owns and operates Naked Yoga L.A. The name of the business speaks for itself and it is currently the subject of a profile in the Los Angeles gay weekly (the story was penned by ex-Unzipped Monthly editor Michael Liberatore, who is also a nude yoga practitioner.)
In the article, Mr. DiCorso firmly states "there’s a wide range of sizes and shapes in all our classes and in no way are we trying to promote an idea that you have to be a perfect Adonis to be able to practice yoga."

THE GRAPEVINE: Clay Aiken Musical Off-Broadway
July 27, 2007 | Leave a Comment
The Grapevine Buzz: Have you heard about Idol: The Musical running Off-Broadway? It opened July 5 at New York’s 45th Street Theatre for a nine-week limited run. Per "Entertainment Weekly" in the new issue, "It’s about a club of small-town Ohio high-schoolers so in love with [Clay] Aiken that they don choir robes and worship a crude 10-foot statue of him." The "EW" write-up claims the songs are "campy [and] hummable." Sounds like a slam on Aiken, right? (He has not commented as yet.) But, no, the producer is a serious Claymate. Why am I writing about this? We’re just wondering if a John Paulus-type character gets a number…probably not, right?

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The gay adult landscape shifts dramatically once again with the news that Channel 1 Releasing has acquired Catalina Video. The move further solidifies Channel 1 Releasing’s position as the industry’s largest gay adult company.
Expect an official announcement soon.
The move comes just over a year after All Worlds Video was brought under the Channel 1 umbrella, which includes Chi Chi LaRue’s Rascal Video and director-performer Doug Jeffries‘ Electro Video.
The acquisition of Catalina Video further consolidates the field of major gay adult companies. In recent years, Catalina has been quiet. Their last new films were released in 2005 and since then they have focused on re-releasing classic titles and repurposing their extensive catalog.

INDUSTRY UPDATE: “Conan O’Brien” Angers (Cyber)Bears
July 25, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Via AVN.com, CyberBears and director Ken Slater are angry that an unauthorized clip of their film FEED THE BEARS aired during a recent broadcast of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The episode’s featured guest was Adam Sandler, who was promoting his film I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. When a clip of that film was supposed to air, a few moments of FEED THE BEARS, featuring performers Ali and Joe Falconi, played instead.

INDUSTRY UPDATE: “DNA” Mag on Brett Mycles
July 25, 2007 | Leave a Comment
The new issue of Australia’s DNA magazine (cover at left, issue #90) has a featured story on the life and tragic death of Rob Sager, better known to GayPornLand as Brett Mycles. The story is headlined, "The Life and Death of Adonis" followed by the subhead "Rob Sager’s Last Photoshoot." The article is by Matthew Phillip, for whom I provided some industry contacts for the story.

* Mario Cruz, Cruzin’ Around: "Leather and BDSM [has] been for most of my active sexual life something that I really enjoy and like to different degrees. And as time goes by and I get older, vanilla sex quite frankly bores me. The truth is that every time I blow a load I am on my head always fantasizing at some kind of kinky shit."

* Dylan "Brad Benton" Vox, 21st Century Vox: "Why is fuck such a dirty word? And why is sex considered so taboo in our country? I mean, who really cares? If no one gets hurt, I say do whatever you want. Life is just too short."

FRESH MEAT: Citiboyz Exclusive Devin Moss
July 21, 2007 | 1 Comment
By week’s end jet lag finally caught up with me. I’ve never really been subject to jet leg from travel between the right and left coasts; three hours’ time difference didn’t seem to register. But it’s nine hours’ difference between the Los Angeles world headquarters of The Adams Report by JC Adams and Prague in the Czech Republic, where I spent ten days earlier this month. That nine hours’ difference finally slapped me down Thursday and Friday.

Rumor Control: The Grapevine (Updated!)
July 18, 2007 | Leave a Comment
"Absolutely, positively not true." That’s the word from Falcon Studios‘ Director of Operations, Troy Prickett about the rumor that Falcon President Todd Montgomery had left the company. Normally we’d ignore this kind of stuff; not a week goes by that someone in GayPornLand isn’t the subject of whispered gossip. But this tidbit took on a life of its own rather quickly, propogated by people who know better.

“Out” Mag Goes Bareback
July 18, 2007 | 2 Comments
The August 2007 issue of Out magazine (designer Nate Berkus on the cover) has the cover line: "Deadly Not Edgy" and the subhead "The Rise of Bareback Porn." That’s a bit misleading as condomless videos have been proliferating for almost ten years now.
(In other mainstream gay mag news, The Advocate has published their annual "SEXSEXSEX" issue but missing is an expected story about the Timothy Boham/Marcus Allen murder case. I was interviewed for the story, along with others from GayPornLand, but it appears to have been delayed or spiked.)

The Grapevine: Rumor Control
July 17, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Hmmm…okay, we have to be careful about how we word this next bit of gossip. The GayPornLand grapevine is abuzz today with rumors that a certain high-powered exec at one of the Big Gay Studios has been shown the door. I’ve spoken with several sources who have heard the same story. However, one additional source says it’s not true. I’ve been working the phones and have received nothing verifiable from an official source. It could all be one big, fat lie. So until I can source this story, we’re not naming the exec or the studio. But that’s what everyone’s talking about today, Constant Readers…
