UPDATED [10/30/07]: Dearest Constant Reader: Please scroll down a bit for our controversial stories on the David Awards dust-up roiling GayPornLand. The comments sections to these stories are filled with fiery back-and-forth as industryites including performers Rod Barry, Steve Cruz and Jason Ridge, plus Jason Sechrest, Chris Ward and Titan Media’s Keith Webb, and our very own Constant Readers, debate bareback-vs.-condoms in gay adult entertainment.

Performer-director-promoter-mogul Ty Lattimore has joined his Ty Lattimore Entertainment with Throttle Media and New Barbary Coast Distribution to flack SOUL IN DA HOLE, the follow-up to this year’s vividly titled PUNCH YOU IN YO ASS. "Sir" Lattimore (as he bills himself) toplines in this fisting/piss video costarring Steve Cross, newcomer Dwayne Malone, Crisco Paw (brilliant effing stage name) and Greg Ruffin. Via the press release, themes for SOUL IN DA HOLE include "fisting, older men, dirty talk, extreme penetration, big balls, hairy crotches, kink, nipple play and live sounds." That last one tops it off for me… Read on for a quick overview of Mr. Lattimore’s XXX career:

Fresh Meat: RJ Danvers

October 28, 2007 | 4 Comments

Newbie RJ Danvers has launched his XXX career with splashy roles in the forthcoming GRUNTS (Raging Stallion Studios) and ROAD TRIP, VOL. ONE: RUSSIAN RIVER (Jocks Studios). Soon after filming his role in GRUNTS, he was snapped up by Raging Stallion and became the youngest performer, at a mere 19 years, to sign an exclusive contract with the studio. Repped by Fabscout Entertainment, he has launched a blog that chronicles his life as a newly hatched porn pup. Keep reading for such tidbits as the superheroine for whom he is named, his Gay Manifesto, and his entry in the Britney Spears "Gimme More" YouTube challenge extended by Francois Sagat and Steve Cruz:

[Edited 10/29/07] Okay, okay! Uber-agent David Forest will hound me to the four corners of West Hollywood if I don’t mention his extraordinarily flattering profile in the November 2007 issue of Australia’s porn-friendly DNA Magazine. Mr. Forest, 59 in December, was not interviewed for the new profile penned by Rob Marshman, and is described therein as "the David Geffen, Richard Branson and Martha Stewart of gay porn." (Now there’s a pull quote, eh?) The story traces Mr. Forest’s colorful career, dating back three decades to his days as a popular rock promoter through his ’80s stint as the proprietor of the successful Brad’s Buddies escort service, and into his topsy-turvy career (do a search on "David Forest" on this site and you’ll see what I mean) as manager and den mother to a quixotic coterie of gay porn’s most popular studs. I have some personal interest as I penned the first mainstream profile of Mr. Forest way back in the Dark Ages (October, 1999) for Genre magazine.

"Okay. Let’s all take a breath," writes JasonCurious.com’s Jason Sechrest. He is chiming in on the David Awards controversy that is roiling the gay adult biz this week, and his comments are pissing off some of the folks who were involved in the initial dust-up last Friday.

The David Awards controversy continues to rile up various factions here in GayPornLand. Scroll down for the two previous stories and background on what’s been going on since the 2nd Annual David Awards were presented last Friday. They unspooled in conjunction with Hustlaball and the Venus Erotic Expo in Berlin. And Chi Chi LaRue, who won Best U.S. Director for the second year in a row, is at the center of the controversy. We spoke briefly via email earlier this week, but Channel 1 Releasing still wanted to clarify things.

A-Rising-Star

Performer-turned-mogul Jason Ridge announced today he’ll be hosting two “intimate” Los Angeles premieres to flack the release of A RISING STAR, the first title from his newly formed Ridgeline Films. First up is a screening October 27 at MJ’s Bar in Silverlake, with a more traditional shindig November 2 at Eleven Lounge in West Hollywood.

Mr. Ridge toplines A RISING STAR alongside Roman Heart (who filmed his duo with the producer-star during a brief period off-contract from Falcon Studios), Marcos Justice, Blu Kennedy, Joe Strong and Matt Cole, who has annouced this will be his final XXX flick.

Titan-logoThe David Awards controversy we first wrote about yesterday is hitting the boiling point. Titan Media, Channel 1 Releasing’s Chi Chi LaRue, Michael Lucas of Lucas Entertainment and others have denounced the David Awards for allegedly tying nominations and awards to advertising support, and for honoring studios that produce bareback adult films. Titan’s Bruce Cam had been set for a Lifetime Achievement Award and turned it down. “It would be against every single fiber of my moral being to accept this award,” he announced in a press release today.

venus_expo_logo.jpg [UPDATED: 5:37pm PST] The 2nd Annual David Awards were handed out this past weekend in conjunction with the Venus Erotic Expo in Berlin, and it seems we have some trouble brewing over international waters. Presented by Germany’s GAYeLINE Magazine (a trade mag like Adult Video News) the David Awards have antagonized a certain faction of Expo attendees and industryites over the show’s perceived support of bareback studios and films.

Among this year’s crop of popular "It" studs is Brodie Sinclair/Derek Brodie, a gay-for-pay stunner whose kissable lips and plush butt enraptured Falcon Studios (LONGBOARD) and Raging Stallion Studios (the upcoming GRUNTS), as well as the webmasters of half a dozen amateur websites. Jake Cruise Presents and PornTeam.com have CRUISE COLLECTION 43: BRODIE on tap, three scenes (105 minutes) with the hetero topman front and center. Brodie agreed, but he insisted that I shave my beard. It didn’t take me long to make up my mind. Clean shaven, I got to kiss Brodie’s beautiful lips, with tongue! It was heaven." Vet director Phil St. John debuts his new eponymous label with EURO SEX DEMONS, an all-sex orgy shot in the heart of Prague. Mr. St. John found success in Eastern Europe a couple years back with CZESKI FRIENDS, which was released by TitanMen Fresh, and costarring Tadeusz/Todd Miller, whose bountiful booty is one of the glories of gay porn (praise Jeebus he’s in this movie, too). I had the good fortune to meet Drago Lembeck and Jay Renfro this past summer when I was in Prague supervising a shoot for Studio 2000. Lembeck is a tall, stone-cut hottie and a natural-born performer, while adorable Renfro is a voracious sexual performer and, frankly, too damn cute for words. (Yes, I developed a crush on him…

Castle-LaRue-Jarr

It’s funny how some retired performers bubble up in the public consciousness all at once. None other than Mason Jarr has been the subject of a handful of WEHT emails the past month or so, and I had nothing new to report. All I knew was that Mr. Jarr kept in regular contact with All Worlds Video honcho Rick Ford and that he was not planning a return to XXX, but if he did it would be for AWV. Well, flash forward to the October 3 debut in Los Angeles of the Rascal Video adult toy line at The Pleasure Chest in West Hollywood. Current “It” hunk Johnny Castle turned up with a friend in tow: Mason Jarr. Still no plans to mount a comeback (his last films were in 2001 following a 1997 debut) but this is a hopeful sign for his many fans. And he still looks damned good, eh?
