I am very proud of Chi Chi, Michael Lucas, Titan and all the others who stand up for what they believe in and what they believe in is right. As an adult performer, I appreciate that fact that they care about their models and not the money that barebacking may bring. Money will come and go but a life you only get once.

I was a child during the first epidemic of the early 1980′s and I do fear in the next five to 10 years that we will see a resurgence of gay men dying. I admit that I do watch bareback videos and I enjoy them but I would not go out and bareback myself knowing the risks. Does watching bareback movies make people go out and have unprotected sex? I don’t believe so. In this world we have free will and we all make mistakes but we will either learn from them, or simply just keep repeating them. The elephant in the room that no one is talking about is the rampant drug use, specifically Meth, that is devastating our community. One of the biggest reasons people go out and have unsafe sex isn’t solely because they rented an adult movie but because they’ve gotten high on drugs and aren’t thinking clearly. People ask should we be our brother’s keeper and I believe we should, but to what extent if they refuse to listen time and time again? Some may consider me a hypocrite for watching but I do care and I do have compassion and don’t want to see my brethren lost. It is also time the industry took stock of itself and committed one of these GAYVN summits to the issue and decide how they will restore quality and responsibility.

I think Chi Chi and Titan and Lucas may have a point.
I came out young at 14- it was 1986. It was a dark time in The Castro District of SF, my hometown. Everyone was getting sick and dying. I have friends. What is ‘ridiculous’ is the sad truth that Anon is probably right. And I’m a little confused as to how we got here. Its sells like crazy so yeah the barebacking fetish is probably here to stay. So I ask us to ask ourselves if its healthy… and are we on a destructive path?

I don’t want to revisit 1986.
I don’t want another generation of men to just disappear.
Will we regret it later? Only time will tell.

The advertising-for-awards is one thing. But all this bitching and disruption over barebacking is ridiculous. Protest if you want, but it’s not going anywhere.
