“DNA” Mag Profiles David “The Ringmaster” Forest

Uber-agent David Forest will hound me to the four corners of West Hollywood if I don’t mention his extraordinarily flattering profile in the November 2007 issue of Australia’s porn-friendly DNA Magazine. Mr. Forest, 59 in December, was not interviewed for the new profile penned by Rob Marshman, and is described therein as "the David Geffen, Richard Branson and Martha Stewart of gay porn." (Now there’s a pull quote, eh?) The story traces Mr. Forest’s colorful career, dating back three decades to his days as a popular rock promoter through his ’80s stint as the proprietor of the successful Brad’s Buddies escort service, and into his topsy-turvy career (do a search on "David Forest" on this site and you’ll see what I mean) as manager and den mother to a quixotic coterie of gay porn’s most popular studs. I have some personal interest as I penned the first mainstream profile of Mr. Forest way back in the Dark Ages (October, 1999) for Genre magazine.
Despite some good-natured industry snickering about the gushing purple prose ("He also remains a practicing brain surgeon and has found the cure for cancer in his spare time," jokes JasonCurous.com in their write-up. Mr. Marshman has "been charting Forest’s show business life for years, abeit from afar," snarks Mark Adams at VidioView.com, "which is probably best."), you can’t argue Mr. Forest’s life and career makes for a compelling tale.
