UPDATE! Adam Champ, Carlo Masi Leave COLT?

[UPDATE: Within minutes of this post, we got word that Messrs. Champ and Masi remain under contract to COLT Studio. Stay tuned, kids.] Bodybuilder-boyfriends Adam Champ and Carlo Masi circulated an industrywide email this morning announcing they’ve parted ways with COLT Studio. They made the decision January 11. “It came time for us to split from the famous company and take on the porn industry as independent models,” they write, after they were unable to come to term$ over the details of the renewal of their exclusivity contract, which include$ control over their image$ and branded website$. They note, “(o)ur decision was taken only a few days ago, so we are still reviewing our options and organizing future work. The future for both [of us] is a big book of empty pages, all waiting to be filled with new and exciting adventures.” Click here for a few more details…
Further, their letter reads, “(f)or both of us, COLT Studio will always have a special place in our hearts, and we will forever be grateful to John Rutherford for all he has done over the years. Beautiful trips, special people and the warmth of our many fans around the world are just the beginning of a long list of things for which we will always be indebted to COLT.”
The boys have live appearances scheduled throughout February in Argentina, Italy and Spain. They have announced no new film gigs (yet). For COLT, Messrs. Champ and Masi appear in the recent HAWAI’I, NAKED MUSCLES: THE NEW BREED and WATERBUCKS 2 (Mr. Champ also toplines BUILT: MINUTE MAN 29).
No official word yet from COLT Studio, but this does give me an opportunity to note how the ex-COLT Men appear on the cover of the newly published 2008 Adam Gay Video Directory (click on the link to order from TLA Video. Ahem…).

speak your mind? OK. Think this is an extremely unsexy cover with some over-aged men past their primes. Th eone on the right is still okay i guess but come on is this a cover to attract attention? I guess there must be more than a few ‘daddy’ lovers around and i guess there must be a few around who adore men in suits -sometimes even i do but on a cover of a gay dvd directory? This is what they call an eye- catcher?
Often i think men who are not fully naked are far more sensual and sexy than in their Adam’s costume. Think sexy underwear, tight sexy jeans, tight t-shirts, etc. But this picture give sme hardly any incentive to do whatever not do the guys inside. Just my two cents…
Well, I kind agree with you, but not for the same reasons. I think Carlo Masi and his boyfriend are too overexposed and Colt made the right decision to let them go out on their own. After all, they’ve got so many hotties like this new Colt guy named Mitch Branson – yum!

I have a little difficulty liking Adam Champ only because I’m so jealous that he has Masi for himself. Either is hotter than any twink on earth. Wherever they go, if they have left COLT (The addendum makes the whole story confusing), but wherever Carlo goes, I will want to see him. Hot! Hot! HOT!

I totally agree with Douglas. “Overaged men past their prime”? No way! IMO they are both full prime and only because they made many movies and are very present in the public they aren’t past it. Of course the market needs fresh meat and new faces, but why not a good micture of new-comers and known actors. Wouldn’t mind if there would be some movie coupling Carlo and/or Adam with some new-comers/twinks. Can imagine them very well in daddy-son-features or as guys teaching the newbourhood-boys some hot things.
I think we should give Carlo and Adam the opportunity to reinvent themselves on the screen.

Well, I’m sorry but I think both Carlo and Adam are suffering from the typical inflated attidtude that so many “stars” suffer from. Why not just stay at Colt? I think anywhere else they go will only be downhill. Besides, can you imagine if they went to work for Raging Stallion? Ouch!
Also, I hear they were fired because they both appeared on stage in Paris and barebacking each other on stage. I know that John Rutherford has a clear policy of no barebacking for Colt models and this caused a big problem. The men didn’t like being told what they could not do. Inguiring minds want to know!

Hello!!They left Colt because Colt is falling apart. Other models quit the company before: Cris Wide for example. Only, these other models were not very famous so it was easier for Colt to keep it quiet. Do you believe they could have kept quiet two pure breed horses like Adam and Carlo?. Answer: wrong.
And look at the new models; totally inappropriate for Colt Studio. Prob Carlo and Adam didnt want to work with them neither.

OK, Heidi! Ha! Colt dead? You guys must be joking – All because two models go out on thier own after a studio shucks out thousands of dollars to build them up? How funny people are on these blogs to simply make quick judgments – as the saying goes, “There’s two sides to every story” and we as viewers have no idea what goes on behind the scenes for real and in their boardrooms. I think Falcon was at its best before he left and truthfully he brought Colt back after too many years of it being dormant. Yes, Carlo was there and he deserves kudos for that too! Yeah and what about this bare backing issue that I keep reading about? There must be some truth to this since both the studio and the models aren’t addressing it? I read that they were at a club called la scene and had full on fucking WITHOUT condoms and then came in eachothers mouths – this is not COLT at all! This seems like an issue to me
Chris Wide not famous? Are you mad Moses, Chris Wide is probably one of the only current Colt men of recent that holds the “true” Colt man look that I grew up with. Carlo and Adam may be good looking guys, but just because they leave (and not in a good way I might add) Colt it doesn’t mean that the company won’t keep going as it has far before they ever arrived. Colt is far too solid with its brand and recognition for two meathead, spoiled and egotistical models to affect it. I love Colt and will always be a proud and defensive fan. No other gay porn studio has done it with such grace, integrity and class. None!

Anyway, Carlo you are such an iconic Colt man – I mean who in their right mind would work with you? I was under the impression from your blog that you were very happy with John Rutherford and the entire Colt crew?
In any case, I think the way you guys went about this whole thing publicly was in bad taste – if anything you should have kept more quiet and worked with Colt to allow you to walk away rather than send out letters and emails to the media and fans alike. This might not have been the best tactic for you and Adam for your future, but then again this is only my humble opinion.
Good luck with your career – I am and always will be a Colt fan and it is too bad you chose to walk away. Much success – I’m afraid you will need it.
