Get Closer: GAYVN Nominee “Lord of the Boyz 1-2″

The other day I wrote about newbie Kaden Saylor, whose inclusion among the Best Newcomer GAYVN nominees had some folks scratching their heads; another was LORD OF THE BOYZ from Hyde Park Productions and White Tiger Releasing, which earned nods for Best Director (Ted McIntyre & Doug Knight) and Best Specialty Release (18-23). Like young master Saylor, if you follow the twink scene then these noms make more sense, as LORD OF THE BOYZ (actually a two-parter) is a well-reviewed pups-on-location romancer. The adorably cute young studs in the cast include Max Diamond, Toby Elliott, Chris O’Conner, Justin Paige, Cameron Phillips, Chase Taylor, Riley Turner and Casey Wood. Filmed in February 2007 on location in Acapulco, it’s a gay porn twist on Lord of the Flies (but, y’know, with sex). Mr. McIntyre told GAYVN last summer that their simulation of plane crash survivors was authentic enough to draw the attention of the Mexican Federal Police who “thought there had been an accident of some sort.” In spinning off Lord of the Flies, Mr. McIntyre says they were trying to present “the contrast between the sensuality of order and the animalism of chaos.”
Adult Video News approved (although they complained about the DVD menu controls), giving both parts four stars (out of five), noting of Part One that, “(o)pening credits are eccentric in order, content, and style. After all that, one gets to a delightful, golden, glowing shower threeway among Taylor, Wood, and Phillips, after which tiny Phillips reveals his fantasy of plane-wreck in Acapulco, and, whoosh, there we are! Acapulco looks brilliant, the two twinks who take six castaways into their mansion are as cute and as absolutely free of body hair as the castaways whom they ravish when the castaways are not ravishing each other, and the mansion is a knockout.” About Part Two, “(t)he ‘shipwreck’ story…has been dropped for soft-focus, pastel-hued sex.”
RAD Video notes, “Here’s a film that gives new definition to ‘cum hungry.’ Six twinks vacation in Mexico because there wasn’t enough jizz in the United States to satisfy their appetites…In addition to the spectacular orgy, other fun moments include double rimming, double fucking, three-ways (with daisy chain sucking), and four-ways. Are you kidding?! These have to be two of the WORST movies (and I use the term loosely) that I ever seen.
Where do I begin? They fly everyone to Mexico, but they shoot the whole thing in a generic hotel suite that could have been in Kalamazoo Michigan, for all we knew.
The lighting √¢‚Ǩ‚Äú or lack thereof — was atrocious, and the cinematography was non-existent.
As for the directing, I was stupefied when I saw this director’s name in the GAYVN Awards Best Director category. What directing?! The camera was on a tripod and they didn’t come in for ANY coverage or POV shots.
As for the boys, yes they were very cute. However, none of them could get erections. It was one limp dick after another. Some of the boys seemed like they were dazed and confused. Perhaps he Dramamine hadn’t worn off.
What a shame that they had such a collection of gorgeous twinks, but no one to direct them. I think that’s a damn shameful! What a waste of cute boys.
I defy anyone to try to watch either of these DVDs without their finger firmly pressed on the FAST FOWARD button.
As a fan of “The Lord of the Flies,” I was really looking forward to these movies. Boy was I disappointed! This director makes that Helix director look like Spielberg.

I did see one scene in one DVD from this company that was hot, but the rest that I have tried to watch are unwatchable, and yes there are scads of limp dicks. Please investigate who at AVN is on their payroll.
