   Surprise, surprise…Nickolay Petrov won an award. I guess they’ll take it to him in jail?

   I am frankly shocked that Raging Stallion won pretty much everything. I was sure it was a third win for Lucas Entertainment. Picture, director, editing, sex scene, a bunch others.

   Steve Cruz and Jesse Santana had the most nominations of anyone and they took just one each?! That’s a weird one.

   I’m surprised that Raging Stallion took almost everything. The GayVNs usally spread the wealth. Basically it was RSS and All Worlds Video this year, with a few to Lucas Entertainment. Everyone else has one. Interesting.

   Second (third?) the general disappointment that Steve Cruz has only one award.

   Awesome that Ricky Sinz beat everyone with three. Pitbull Productions won? Was that their first?

    No disrespect to Jake Deckard, but Roman Ragazzi is handsome but he is sooooo BORING in all his videos, no matter who he is paired with. There is no heat in his performances. There were other scenes WAY WAY hotter that deserved best sex scene.

    I have to say I was surprised Jesse Santana only walked away with one award. I thought he would have been voted best newcomer just based on all his hot performances. Also would have like to have seen Tyler Saint or Tommy Blade or Jeremy Hall awarded. They give their all in everything they do.

    hey Ronnie count me in for tommy blade as well but i do think roman ragazzi (what a name is that actually:)) is a real hot hunk and super bottom BUT he’s always wrongly directed in my opinion..it’s not a matter of ‘being hot’ i think it’s a matter of electricity between stars and then getting the right directorial influx…so for me too (count me in critical eye) grunt was booooooring for the same obvious reasons…

    This may be off topic but something I was discussing with a few Industry fans, what is your feeling about Gay For Pay Models winning GAYvn awards? I mean sexuality comes in many degrees but what about those who are married, girlfriends etcc winning awards in the “Gay” Community? Just something to throw out there for opinions.

    It is a little off topic Wendy, but a good question. A question I have address in some degree a few times recently in my own blog. Plain and simple, there should be no such thing as “gay-for-pay” models. These “men” are bad examples for the gay community. All people (especially gays) need to take pride in their sexuality. Websites like Corbin Fisher and SeanCody, and studios that hire these guys, and publicize them as “gay-for-pay” don’t inspire gay men to take pride in their sexuality, but instead hide their sexuality.

    What’s the difference between “Bext Boxcover Concept” and “Best Packaging”?

    Falcon released a spiffy boxed set, sure, but I can’t believe Athletic Model Guild doesn’t win this every time for their painstaking restorations of classic films. More evidence the GayVN “judges” aren’t paying attention to what’s out there.

    “Knockout” winning Best Foreign Release is embarrassing. Over Kristen Bjorn and Lucas Kazan?! C’mon.

    Best Videography to Titan’s “H2O” is very well deserved.

    How do they judge Best Still Photographer?

    Someone more familiar with porn production can chime in here, but is Best Makeup Artist really necessary? Yeah, the “On Fire” guy created special effects makeup. But that is incredibly rare. I’d rather they created a Special Achievement Award to go to instances like the “On Fire” guy, or to some deserving veteran, rather than filling out a category with subpar work.

    Im not voicing my opinion as for or against just was brought up last night at a shoot and I thought it would be a good thing to discuss,getting the “straight” guy is a fantasy and I think a good market however Im not talking about “reality” sites but Mainstream companies and their “contract” guys and then the nominations, I think their is a difference with reality websites who focus on that type of “reality”. This is no slam too ANY pacific male performer just some healthy conversation.

    Awards distributed are directly proportionate to the studio’s AVN sponsorship. Note that Hot House does little to sponsor AVN and they haven’t won anything despite having best-selling releases. (No I am not with HH, just pointing out the obvious)

    I don’t know how GRUNTS won Best Picture. After thoroughly enjoying Part 1, Part 2 was weak and Part 3’s highlight was the duo between look-a-likes Steve Cruz and Orlando Toro. This could have easily been shorn down to one or two discs tops. GIGOLO should have won this award of the Best Picture noms, and if Michael Lucas begins claiming politics got in the way this year, I may believe him this time.
    I really like Blake Riley, but Jesse Santana or Steve Cruz would surely have been better picks for Best Newcomer.
    Best Classic DVD: How did AMG not win this??
    Best Sex Scene: Hold up. A scene where the top (Ricky Sinz) does NOTHING but lay back and get sucked, then fucks the bottom, won Best Duo? Of the nominees, this was the weakest scene because Ricky Sinz is so passive. The GRUNTS nominated scene should have been Jake Deckard and Roman Ragazzi, or Steve Cruz and Orlando Toro.
    Best Actor: Once again, Jake Deckard screaming like a drill sergeant isn’t ACTING. This should have been Michael Lucas in GIGOLO, absolutely no question. THAT was acting!
    How did KNOCKOUT win Best Foreign Release? This was a particularly strong category this year: COLLEGE COCKS 2, ROCKS AND HARD PLACES, THE CRAVE, and THE MEN I WANTED were all marvelous!
    Best Group Scene: I personally felt the lengthy finale of FRATERNITY GANG BANG 2 was the most stellar of this group of noms. But what do I know?
    Best Ethnic-Themed (Latin): AMAZONIA was terrible!

    i am confused at all the banter about who won for what and why they shouldn’t have and why so and so didn’t win and why they should have. I think it’s amusing to me that we can’t celebrate the winners and their contributions to the industry regardless of how we feel about them personally. These performers put their best foot, err cock/ass, forward to give you all that you want to see, and when they are rewarded for it, you (over generalization) bitch and moan cause someone else didn’t win. I am assuming that in May, when the Grabby’s are announced, everyone will be ready to bitch and moan again because someone won who shouldn’t have and someone needed to win but didn’t??

    With all that said, congrats to ALL of the winners and nominees at this year’s award show.

    Gerry, no i don’t complain about the oscars or the grammys. I am not selected to be a voter for the awards, and have no input into who may or may not win. So why waste energy on complaining about an outcome that i have no input on or control over. I guess it too much to expect people to be respectful of all who are nominated and who have won awards rather than bash them for all to see. I am sure, for a performer, it’s a great feeling to see your name listed as a winner only to be followed up by comments from others explaining why you shouldn’t have won in the first place.

    Just my two cents, oh hell, it’s really a nickel.

    I wish Joe Gage would have gotten some recognition! and folks…the guys in “When Bears Attack” are very sexy men, but they are NOT bears. Want to know what a bear looks like? Go to a bear bar or event. Or better yet, get a Bearfilms movie! Bears have bellies and fur and beards, like the guys in the nominated film “Bears in Heat”. Let’s hope there’s some integrity in these awards in future years and not just vote for your friends who were in a “Bear” movie. I love Chi-Chi too, but c’mon.
