GPTimes, Porn Awards & the “Los Angeles Times”

Geez, I go for a hike this morning in the Hollywood Hills and come back to about 30 emails from our Constant Readers, all of ‘em asking if I’ve read the Los Angeles Times‘ popular awards-show blog Gold Derby today. I have now, and thanks muchly for all of your emails alerting me to the posting (click here). The Gold Derby blog covers mainstream awards shows and this morning’s entry spins off of a Daily Variety story about the AVN Awards airing on cable teevee (click here for that story). “When Showtime debuted its broadcast of the 2008 Adult Video News Awards on March 14, the cabler made history with something often pursued but rarely achieved: an awards show that wasn’t dull,” they report. The Gold Derby blog picked up on that and reports on various porn awards, including the GAYVNs (“These gay porn awards are now so mainstream that Kathy Griffin hosted last year!”), Grabby Awards and last night’s “Hookies,” which we reported on. They note Chi Chi LaRue‘s omnipresence at these shindigs and announce that she “deserves 100 Oscars for all of the bravura perfs she’s given under oversize wigs and behind the camera.” And, yep, they link to Gay Porn Times. Congratulations JC! yes I agree “our” awards are so much more fun than the Oscars (God was this year a sominex moment or what?)

Where else but the Grabbys or GayVn are we assured there is “great Video footage” of the Best Actor taking it up the ass?

I join in the congrats, but MUST fault you and your compatriots in the gay blogosphere for nary a mention of this Showtime broadcast, which is a pretty big deal, even if hetersexist.

Congratulations! I love the idea of the “L.A. Times” reporters spending time at their desks and secretly clicking over to Gay Porn Times. They’ve got to do something to relieve the stress as they wait for the hammer to fall…
