Dept. of WEHT: Musclestud Mark Slade

One of the pleasures of this job is hearing from performers who have left the spotlight, but one day decide to Google themselves or whatever and come across our “Dept. of WEHT” feature, then decide to track me down and check in. Lately it’s been blond wall-of-muscle Mark Slade, whose last appearance in gay flicks were Blue Blake‘s MUSCLEMEN MOVING CO. 2 and TEACHER’S PET for HIS Video. Mr. Slade is living in San Diego and working out hard, he tells me, for a bodybuilding competition in July. He’s contemplating a comeback to porn but hasn’t made up his mind just yet. Although his last gay flicks were shot almost two years ago, a handful of bi and straight flicks he banked have trickled down the pipeline; Constant Readers will recall Mr. Slade is among a handful of straight-porn performers who defected to the gay side of the street; he crossed The Great Divide about ten year ago (!) now after cranking out some 80-100 films since 1994 or so. Mr. Slade took a lot of heat for it, which he says persists to this day. He’s aware of guys like Maxx Diesel/Christian XX (they could be brothers, right?), but Mr. Diesel doesn’t work the gay side anymore. Well, at least the Gays tend to be more accommodating about this sort of thing.
