Budding mogul Brent Corrigan has updated his blog and apologized for an April Fool’s prank gone awry that had him breaking up with his partner, abruptly dumping all of his projects and quitting the biz amid a storm of complaints√¢‚Ǩ‚Äùclick here for the entry titled “I’m Sorry” (complete with a frowny emoticon face). Noting that April Fool’s “ran a little long this year,” Mr. Corrigan explains that he left up the fake screed for more than just one day because otherwise “no one would fall into my little trap. But by the looks of it, I appear to have angered so many of you.” Yeah, no kidding! He asks everyone to “try and lighten up about it” and offers “sincere apologies for… what seemed like the most simple yet least creative April Fool’s prank known to man… Next year, I’ll just Photoshop a new tattoo on my body and stay on the safer, more obviously predictable side.” He does note there was some truth to his original posting. So there you go. I didn’t buy for a second that he’d quit, so, whatever, no harm, no foul. But clearly Mr. Corrigan is capable of stirring the pot like no one else in GayPornLand. I think this incident is more illustrative of Brent’s fans than of Brent.
Any other porn star on the planet, this never would have went down as it did. Fans would have either disbelieved it (hmmmm, today’s Apr 1, hmmmm…’) or gone looking for another favorite porn star to admire.
Brent does it, however, and his fans jam the suicide hotlines for 48 hours!

I knew it was a PR stunt. If people support him now even still after showing how much disregard he has for his fans then they deserve to be fooled by him. It took you 3-4 days to apologize. How insincere.
As I posted over on my blog, I think he OVER apologized. For a “fan” to get angry over such a routine (and obvious) April Fools joke like this tells me that that “fan” (to quote William Shatner) needs to “get a life.”
As I stated, “Is it Brent’s fault his fans are fanatic to a fault?”
Like I said, this could ONLY happen with Brent…no other porn star. Or as J.C. just put it, “…clearly Mr. Corrigan is capable of stirring the pot like no one else in GayPornLand.”
And in any case, judging by the flood of comments finally coming over Brent’s blog, few are angry (and those, mildly disgruntled at best); most are overjoyed right now.
Damon Kruezer called it a PR stunt and April Fool’s prank from the start. I hear he got a flood of emails and calls protesting that by fanatics thinking that Corrigan really meant what he said. But I’ve been following DK for years and his info – like his intuition – is almost always on target. He got it right again.
But this thing about Michael Lucas he’s talking about now…I guess Mr. Adams hasn’t caught on to that has he?

Why does this kid piss people off so much?
A few card-carrying NAMBLA members out there have never forgiven Brent for what he did to Cobra Video, and having been attacking him with anonymous comments ever since.
You know it is possible to not like Corrigan and also not like Cobra. I resent being lumped in with NAMBLA because I have grown tired of Corrigans constant and I do mean constant bitching and biting of the hands that feed him. Go back and read all his blog entry it’s always poor me and the big bad industry stories. No one likes drama queens.

Just out of curiousity, what do you think of Erik Rhodes?
I am much less attracted to Erik Rhodes now that I read his blog (or used to read). I sympathize with his struggle but I know too many guys who are fucked up for whatever reasons and enjoy milking the drama, even if they deny it till the sun goes down. It sounds harsh, but you can only get yanked around so many times. It’s emotional manipulation, the whole “poor me, i’m so fucked up” routine. I’m sure it’s genuine in Erik’s case; then get some fucking help. If you’re disciplined enough to sculpt that amazing body, you can sit through six weeks of therapy.
Yeah, “it sounds harsh” all right. Christ, people are so unforgiving. Gays especially, it feels like reading some of these comments. If you want to just view them onscreen as performers, you know how to do that. You don’t have to read their blogs or patronize their websites or anything else.

I love how Mr. Kruezer has revealed that Brent Corrigan and Grant Roy broke up over a year ago and have been basically business partners only since. I think it ties in with what Corrigan did on the Blacks Beach tapes with Harlow Cuadra.
Interesting how no one is mentioning that side of the Corrigan drama.
