[Edits 10:00 pm, 05/26 8:45 am.] The 2008 Grabby Awards were presented on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at The Park West theatre in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Chi Chi LaRue and Honey West co-hosted for the tenth consecutive year, alongside Raging Stallion exclusive Jake Deckard, TitanMen exclusive Dean Flynn and Trevor Knight. Serving as “trophy studs” were Hot House exclusive Ross Hurston, Jet Set exclusive Aaron James, COLT Man Ricky Parks and Rascal Video exclusive Blake Riley. Raging Stallion Studios claimed their first-ever Grabby for Best Video with the GRUNTS three-part military epic, while Jake Deckard and Jason Ridge snagged Best Performer honors. Welcome to the holiday weekend, Constant Readers, but never fear! The work of porn continues apace, especially on this busy IML/Grabby Awards weekend. Fredrick Ford Does Pride, Loves Canadians

Remember Fredrick Ford? UPDATED: Falcon CEO Todd Montgomery is Out

[Update: 05/23/08, 1:00 pm.] Gay Porn Times confirmed today that Falcon Entertainment President and CEO Todd Montgomery has left the studio. Mr. Montgomery was named Falcon’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in late 2003. He formed 3Media Corporation in 2004 with partners Steve Johnson and the late Terry Mahaffey and purchased Conwest Resources, parent company of Falcon Studios, from the Charles M. Holmes Foundation. Mr. Mahaffey passed from cancer in October 2005, whereupon Mr. Montgomery took over as President. That position will not be filled right away. Mr. Johnson is now sole owner and will oversee day-to-day operations, together with Director of Production Adam Q. Robinson, and Troy Prickett, Director of Promotions & Production. “Todd and Steve agreed to disagree on some key issues and decided to part ways,” Mr. Prickett told me. “We wish him well. Otherwise, it’s just business as usual here at Falcon.” UPDATE: A Falcon rep provided an expanded statement this afternoon, May 23, about the departure of Mr. Montgomery and the studio’s future plans. Here it is: “We will be moving forward with a very positive outlook and plan on staying focused and passionate about the work we are all doing. We are all well-equipped with survival instincts here and have shifted into ‘a new day, a new beginning’ mode. Falcon will flourish thanks to an incredibly dedicated, driven and passionate team of individuals who after five years of working together all have one goal in mind√¢‚Ǩ‚Äùsuccess. Falcon Studios is evaluating the need for a new President and will make a decision in the near future. Michael Lucas: New Logo, Blasts “Haters”

As you can see, Lucas Entertainment has spiffed up their company logo as part of their ongoing website revamp. And looking elsewhere, company CEO Michael Lucas has publicly blasted those who would vandalize his Wikipedia entry and, he alleges, harass those who attempt to fix it. In a blog entry titled, “When Haters Hate” (click here), Mr. Lucas writes, “The Puritanical right-wing hate machine has recently gone into conniptions over the Michael Lucas Wikipedia entry as well as various other entries that include some sexual imagery. Never mind that anybody can walk into major museums of the world and see equally graphic sexual imagery on urns from ancient Greece. The Puritanical haters, the morality police, come out in a show of force, convinced that if people are exposed to sexual imagery on the internet, the fabric of society will come ripping apart at its seams. Pornster Mario Cruz recently lashed me with a wet noodle for overlooking the Blatino Erotica Awards, which unspooled Saturday, May 10 in Palm Springs during the May 10-12 Blatino Oasis Weekend. (Mr. Cruz and I have been friendly ever since I production-managed IN TOO DEEP for Studio 2000 and encouraged the company to cast him.) I’d have happily given the show some ink, but I never heard anything about it. Folks, I’m not a mind-reader. You need to meet me halfway. My colleagues at Fleshbot had the same response. “While we’ve been deluged lately from nearly every corner of the award-obsessed gay porn business with press releases about the upcoming Grabbys and other events that very few people outside of the porn business give a hoot about,” they recently wrote, “we somehow missed hearing anything about the Blatino Erotica Awards…” So congrats to Mr. Cruz for snagging his first trophy. Latinboyz Hoofer Gets the Boot

Last month we wrote (click here) about Michael Silas, one of the hoofers competing on the Bravo reality-competition series Step It Up and Dance. Soon after the show began airing it was uncovered that he’d whipped it out and wanked for LatinBoyz.com. A quick update for ya: Mr. Silas was booted from the series; then, last week, when all of the eliminated dancers were given a chance to return to the competition, the remaining contestants were allowed to pick a partner from their number. No one chose hapless Michael and he was eliminated — again. Poor baby, but them’s the breaks. In a similar vein, NBC’s American Gladiators performed well enough earlier this year to earn a second series that is airing now. The returning cast included, as we wrote last week (click here), Alex “Militia” Castro, formerly COLT Man Elian Cortez. However, the second season debuted with craptastic ratings, so unless the numbers perk up a third season is looking problematic. RJ Danvers: Ford Model Search a “Scam”

About a week ago we wrote (click here) about Raging Stallion exclusive RJ Danvers having entered the VMan Ford Model search, an online cattle call, sponsored by Diesel and VMagazine.com. The winner was to receive a Ford Models contract and the cover of VMan #11, shot by Hedi Slimane. Mr. Danvers was among half a dozen porn performers in the contest and managed to rally webizens to his side; they voted and voted and voted some more, sending Mr. Danvers (who used the name Ryan Abraham) all the way to second place with more than 8400 votes. However, VMan and Ford announced their top three finalists yesterday (click here) and none of them ended up anywhere close to the top of the online pack. “The contest was nothing more than a scam to get people talking about Ford Models,” Mr. Danvers blogged today (click here), “and to bring traffic to the VMan [and] Diesel…websites.” He writes that he feels “totally taken advantage of…I knew somewhere in my heart of hearts that something like this would happen, but I had no idea it would be this blatant.” He is encouraging readers to send letters of protest, so click over to his blog for the info if you feel so compelled. Marco Paris, Josh Weston Go Condomless

Certain factions of GayPornLand appear to be up in arms again over the issue of condomless sex. Last January (click here), I wrote about popular hotbod Josh Weston, a high-profile former Falcon exclusive, signing on with SX Video to film BODYBUILDERS BAREBACK. His decision to do so angered the safer-section faction in gay adult who felt Mr. Weston’s popularity could induce fans to go condomless in their private lives. And I took some heat for writing about it; as if ignoring the movie would make it go away. Some of our Constant Readers may already know about SX Video’s new BAREBACK POWER BOTTOMS, which features the return of Mr. Weston alongside another fan-favorite performer: Marco Paris, both of whom are gang-banged by seven African-American topmen. (This is actually Mr. Paris’ second condomless film with the studio.) I think some would have preferred a quiet distribution, but an SX Video press release has stirred the pot. √¢‚Ǩ≈ìIt used to be that the models were hesitant to do bareback because non-bareback studios threatened them with boycotts and some were downright hostile,” SX director Ben Baird is quoted as saying. “The consumer has spoken though, the bareback market is growing and models have more choices.” I’m writing about this because I want the industry to get beyond finger-pointing and temper tantrums.
