Euro-beef at William Higgins’ Blog

I had a nice, out-of-the-blue email recently from director and industry legend William Higgins. He wanted everyone to know about a new blog (click here) that clicks over to his twice-weekly membership newsletter (although non-members have access to lots of material) and is stuffed to the brim with hundreds of photos and backstage anecdotes from his operation in Prague. The musclebound hottie, pictured left, is 25-year-old Rado Pauer, with Risa Kraus, 23. Mr. Higgins has made a nice little body worship video featuring this handsome pair available at his site. Can you confirm and/or refute a long standing rumor about William Higgins which I’ve heard for many years now?
I know that he is one of the giants of the early 80s California style porn which helped sexualize the beach/surfer genre but I’d heard the reason Higgins now lives abroad is because he is wanted in the USA on for alleged tax evasion.
Is there any truth to this?
One aside about Higgins I just thought of, not sure it has anything to do with what Mark is talking about, but who knows?
One of the oddest things I’ve noticed when watching his behind-the-scenes discs is that Higgins, who has been working and living in Prague for many, many years, apparently still does not speak one word of Czech. And I mean not one. I find that kind of mind-boggling.
Will, it’s actually pretty normal. Vast majority of Americans living in Prague can’t speak Czech and are not willing to learn it because there’s just no need. Why bother learning the local language if almost everybody (at least the people who want to work with Americans) is able to speak English? (poor English, just like mine,but still..:-)
n.c. – First, your English is not poor! And I understand your point, but I swear I don’t think he even knows “hello” and “goodbye” in Czech. I may be exaggerating, but I’ve never heard them come out of his mouth.
P.S. I also think it’s a severe handicap when he’s directing, since VERY few of the models speak English!

His movies are boring and repetative..every scene is so machenical..he needs to change or get out the industry..the models he uses perform so much better in other studios poductions!

WH is now in his 60s so we have to presume his great days of directing are over. He probably has a couple of assistants who do the most work while his supervises and agrees to the final print.
Perhaps he should retire and write his memoirs as he has supposedly discovered some talent in his early years ie: Kevin (the ass that launched a thousand cocks) Williams!

WH is boring! all the models look the same, but when they go elsewhere they look better. Stage makeup. WH is also a user & no one answered if he is in trouble with taxes, maybe he his, but is US wanted him he would have been here, maybe pays his way to remain in Europe scapegoating the flocks .
Well, I admire WH for building a whole infrastructure over there for himself that will continue on long after he’s gone. Like Bel Ami, he is training a whole generation of photographers, editors, cameraman, production staff. It’s quite an achievement.
