I had a quickie today (an interview, that is) with indie filmmaker John Roecker (Live Freaky, Die Freaky) about a documentary he shot that centers solely on gay porn performers. (He also said Gay Porn Times and TMZ are the two sites he visits every single day. Flattery will get you everywhere!) He’s been filming it piecemeal for several years and the good news is that here! TV has picked it up as a seven-part television series. (Watch for an official website and other press stuff soon.) The title of the series is Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About a Gay Porn Star…But Were Afraid to Ask. “It’s a very long title, I know,” he laughs. There are 16 men profiled, including Brad Benton, Nick Capra, Caleb Carter, Johnny Hazzard, Nick Piston and Jason Ridge. Mr. Roecker says inspiration struck after a conversation with Joey Milano, who complained that he’d been teased by civilians for doing porn. “This series proves that not only are these men beautiful,” he says, “but intelligent and a force to be reckoned with. My hat goes off to the peeps at here! TV that have the balls to show it. These men should be praised for what they do, providing us with a safe sex substitute. I feel they are heroes in the community and my series will prove it.” [Roecker √Ǭ© TMZ.]

I love John. He’s a pretty cool guy and deserves all the success in the world. Although, I do wish a different photo was used for this article. Because that photo of him with the “Scientology is Gay” T-shirt makes him look smug and arrogant, which is the complete opposite of his personality. But still, I’m happy to see that his documentary is finally being discussed.
