Tre Xavier Blasts Gay Biz for Lack of Asian Models
June 16, 2008 |
Performer Tre Xavier has taken to his blog to admonish the gay adult industry for their lack of representation of Asian models (click here). We have almost no working Asian performers in mainstream gay porn√¢‚Ǩ‚ÄùEric Hung, Brandon Lee and Cory Koons (whose bravura work in 2004’s LUBE JOB from Raging Stallion and director Parker Williams is among the best porn flicks of this decade) are certainly not prolific, and we have’t seen any of them for some time now. “I personally hate, hate, motherfuckin’ hate the fact that Blacks, Asian, Indians, etc. have to break off and do their own thing that features solely their ethnicity because so many white American gay porn moguls are too lame-brained to include them, treating them as if they are not even on the continent,” Mr. Xavier fumes. “Now, while I say Blacks like myself have a raw deal, at least I’m humane enough to realize how Asians have it even [worse].” He asks American porn companies to “step their game up and feature an Asian top within a mixed cast… The big American gay porn companies… show America as finding Asians even less sexy than Blacks (who already get repeatedly shunned).” And further, “There are other Americans like myself who know that there is an entire world of beautiful people with physical traits unique to their ethnicity. We find those differences sexy and long to see those [performers] sexually interact for our porn viewing pleasure.” Tre Xavier has been on the scene for several years, with 69 FUCK STREET (Dark Alley/Mansize by Private, 2006); and THE BOOTH (Alpha Dawgz; 2007), as well as DILLON: THE ONE and LOVE OF THE DICK 4: CLASSIFIED, both for Pitbull Productions. Tre,
AMEN!
Never going to happen. Porn companies will blame the public for it of course, but this debate has been going for ages. And porn producers have not changed one freaking iota (with notable exceptions of course). If it wasn’t for the gay butt sex, the KKK would be all into gay porn.

As Tre Xavier first shouted about the lack of Asian models in porn 18 months ago to no affect, could he not set up a company of his own or with others? Use his blog to start the ball rolling!

In the past, I remember Michael Lucas saying that there aren√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t many Asians in gay porn because not a lot of them show up for casting. So racism isn√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t the only factor here. I do agree with some of what Tr√ɬ© said. But it√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s hard for me to take this guy seriously when he writes things like, √¢‚Ǩ≈ìI personally hate, HATE, MOTHER FUCKIN’ HATE√¢‚Ǩ¬ù. He sounds like a grade-schooler throwing a temper tantrum. Also, if he wants change as bad as he says he does, then he needs to shift his focus away from the racism and concentrate more on obtaining equality. Some writing skills wouldn√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t hurt him either. I truly believe that we get what we think about. In Tr√ɬ©√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s case, he√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s devoting so much attention to racism and he√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s only going to get more of it.
rabbit - So because of Tre Xavier’s negative thinking racism in gay porn will continue? Can’t quite follow that one.
yes PLEASE more Asians and more blacks and more latinos and not just for one movie but ’steady’ stars. We do need new flesh onc ein a while but not at this pace and this craziness with so called one or two movies exclusives….Go figure
Will: the mindset of the gay porn industry is if you introduce an asian guy with an average size dick. Then that guy will be a bottom, only. Unless you can prove me wrong. As for AfricanAmericans, “Once you do black, You never go back.” Diesel Washington is trying to break that barrier. I have no problems with black and white guys having sex. As for the latinos. They need to set up a gay culture in south america. Capitalize on that. We are after all trying to go mainstream into the twentyfirst century. but still acts like it’s the Twentieth.
I would like to know why gays in general want to be apart of mainstream? I don’t want to be like straight people. We are different. I’m proud to be different. Let’s celebrate that and stop trying to get straight people to accept us. What we need is justice for all. We need to stop pandering to straights to give us what is rightfully ours in the first place.
Anonymous - You seem to be in the wrong thread (or blog).
You twisted my words. That’s not what I said. I am saying that as long as he continues to focus on what he doesn’t want, he’s going to get more of it. A lot of people don’t seem to realize that our thoughts manifest reality. Take me for example. For 2 years, I suffered from a depressive illness. I kept thinking about how depressed I was and how I wanted the sadness to go away. And each day, it got worse. My mistake was concentrating on the depression. Instead, I should have put my energy towards being happy. As soon as I realized that, I got better. Before you attempt to twist my words once again, I am not trying to say that the cure for depression is to put on a fake smile. That’s a touchy subject and I won’t get into it on this site. Anyway, back on the topic. If Tré wants to make a difference, he certainly can if he wants to. He just needs to direct his attention away from the racism and more on racial equality. That’s what Martin Luther King did and look at what he accomplished. Instead of posting another long comment, I’m just going to provide a helpful link.

rabbit - I honestly was not attempting to twist your words, and thanks for the thoughtful response.
Will,
Thank you very much but I know which thread and blog I’m at. I don’t need you to tell me.
I was responding to Porn Fan’s comment:
“We are after all trying to go mainstream into the twentyfirst century. but still acts like it√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s the Twentieth.”
I should have addressed it to him so for that I apologize but please don’t attempt to assume you know where I should post something.
For Tre’s complaints to be coming from someone within the industry is fair, but lacks the logical next step in his argument … Why not recruit some Asian guys, videotape them, and make lots of $$$ in the process of breaking through the race barrier?
I think that only market forces will bring more Asian models into porn - You can think of it like “if you build it they will cum.”
Create some gay asian superstars on your own and you’ll see how fast the big studios swoop down to steal them away. (This has been the case with black and latino talent.)
There appears to be many “rice queens” online searching for Asian men, so it’s a market just waiting to be tapped. Find ‘em, get’em in front of the camera, and you’re rich!
First off, let me THANK PRACTICALLY ALL OF YOU for giving your opinions. Forgive me if what follows takes up a lot of space.
Regarding Rabbit on the moon’s comments, you are obviously too much on the outside looking in to understand my anger. I’m not throwing a grade-schooler’s tantrum. There was no other way to express my degree of anger unless I act like a physically violent radical, because the racism I’ve experienced almost took me away from a business I love being a part of, and it’s keeping some (like Asians) away from a business they want to enter. And if my writing skills needed so much work, then I wouldn’t presnetly be having my blog syndicated by Men Of Color Blog, and in addition to my personal blog, doing blogging for Pitbull Productions. And they wanted me because of the difference I bring to their ThugPornBlog table. A variety of subject matter that I can express well.
Lastly, if you really read the entry, you would have noticed that I have tried to find the next Asian star. Recall my urging Ben Marksman of Knight Stick Films to give that guy his card. Until I decide to become a studio head myself, I’m going to try to get the comapnies I work for to get some sexy Asian men to work with.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT
Anonymous - Boy, I’m getting pummeled in this thread! Yes, you should have pointed out what you were responding to, but it still seems out of place here to me, sorry. Porn fan may have used the word “mainstream.” but I don’t see him discussing the issue you spoke about, legitimate ss your thoughts are. But post anywhere you like, don’t let me stop you!
Wil, nobody really cares if you feel something is out of place or not. Are you the moderator of this board? Just because someone has a different viewpoint of yours, OH MY STARS, don’t post because it might upset you? Go away.
Achmed - I’m not going anywhere, sorry. If you don’t like my comments, by all means don’t read them.
BTW, I agreed with Anonymous’ comment.
Tré, I appreciate your response. But why do you believe I’m unable to understand your anger regarding racism? Is it because you’re under the impression that I’m not a man of color? That’s condescending. FYI, I am African American and Native American. I’ve been called the N word on a number of occasions. But I choose not to let someone’s intolerance affect me. And that doesn’t mean I lack knowledge about racism.
To be the better person, I want to apologize for the grade school comment. I wasn’t exactly wrong though. If I (a 21 year old) can’t take you seriously, what makes you think the higher ups in the gay porn world will? But hey, it’s your life and you can do whatever you want. I am just saying that you could probably make more of an impact if you presented yourself better. JMO.
Also, thank you for telling me all about your wonderful blog for Pitbull. I am so jealous even though everyone and their grandmother has a blog.
Rabbit, the reason you can’t take me seriously because like the streotypcial 21 year old of today, you don’t take life seriously. If you did, then you would know that intolerance has some kind of an effect on us, and we all take some kind of action. Even if that action is to act like the situation is not there, which is what you are suggesting. And Im’ glad that you corrected my misunderstasnding about your ethnicity, and made clear your age. It made a lot of things about you clear to me.
That stereotypical 21 year-old mentality that has caused me to lose faith in the inner-strength of our younger gay people. Right now, here in NY, the police are harassing gay establishments like they did to incite the Stonewall riots. And I am greatly disappointed to feel that your age group will most likely not take some kind of much needed stand against this harassment. All because of that “not letting intolerance affect me” that you speak of. Now those of your age group who are not so stereotypical are the ones who understand my position, because intolerance effect them.
Lastly, in 3 years time, when you can accomplish half of what I’ve accomplished in whatever industry you choose to have a career in, then you can act smug and act like I’ve done nothing. Until then - watch and learn what real men do when they see their fellow man is done unjust - TAKE A STAND.
BTW, sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere, but Colt had a very hot Asian muscleboy on their roster for about 5 minutes:
http://www.coltstudiogroup.com/men_gallery.php?showModel=122
Should have said his name is Lee Young.
Um, WOW! You only read less than 5 comments from me, and you now have the impression that I’m a smug, 21 year old, who’s going to doom the gay community? Your arrogance is unbelievable. You don’t know anything about me. I am far from being a smug person. I just don’t respond well to people who think they’re better than me because of their achievements. You know what, this “stereotypical” 21 year old has managed to have one of his short stories featured in a book you can purchase at Barnes & Noble. Not to mention that some of my work will be featured in an upcoming issue of a German magazine. So you see, you’re not the only one who knows how to brag.
Also, I am fully aware of the effect intolerance has on people. I am not acting as if intolerance doesn’t exist. But I am choosing not to let that negativity touch me. I AM taking a stand and I am fighting in my own way. If that means I’m not a “real man” by your standards because I choose to turn the other cheek instead of bitching about my frustrations on a blog, then so be it. I will most likely never cross paths with you and I can’t claim to be a fan since I haven’t heard of you. So I really don’t care what you think about me. I can honestly say that I have respect for myself. And I won’t let you or anyone else tell me what kind of person I am.
I’m done with this pissing contest. It won’t get us anywhere since you’ll continue your patronization and throwing your blog in my face. I have better things to do.
To JC and all of you readers,
I apologize for the confrotation via this comment section that took place between Rabbit and myself. It was that Rabbit’s commentary was patronizing the same way(as I discovered in talks with others) that Tyson Cane was too many. So I was basically responding to a flashback of someone unfit to be in my personal circle.
I would like to think that all readers to be considered people that if I was to come face to face with them, that I could include them in my inner circle. And that is whether they agree with me or not. You are human, and I acknowledge the fact that you have that God-given right.
Now while some of you missed some points I made, you were mature in your addressing and not patronizing in addressing your point of view, and I THANK YOU for that. However that was not the case with Rabbit, and I lost it. So once again, to JC and all of you readers, my apologies.
Tre u complain about so many things in the porn industry. It seems like you wanted to break into non-black porn.
No matter how many times Tre thanks people in ALL CAPS, the anger of his just comes through so explicitly. Rabbit made his points well, and it shouldn’t be about bragging how being in the industry X number of years, having blogs, and complaining about something not being fair to endless points. It makes you look so silly.
The sensible ones gave Tre advice, and told him to try and implement change and not just complain about it. Tre responded “until I am a studio head”, and slamming Tyson Cane once again, as if he has this great power.
I am bothered by this because of all the anger and unfair reasoning being put into it just to complain. Be a man, grow up. If you are trying to be a role model of some sort, I don’t agree with your approach.
It’s pretty much a cultural issue, from an asian perspective.
Being gay is already a taboo in Asian culture (regardless the illusion of growing acceptance), not to mention about being in porn industry, being fucked by or fucking a guy.
Size. What is the industry’s standard for minimum? 7″?
I haven’t had time to dig in to Tre’s post at this point but I’ll read it when I have the chance, cause it’s sort of a current-state-refence for me as a gay asian who is interested to dive into gay porn industry.
Tim, you are 100% correct. I did not want to break into ethnic porn. I believe that just because I am an ethnic actor, does not mean I should be confined to ethnic porn. I live in the USA, and I would like some of the porn that I do the reflect my off-camera life in some kind of way. And in this case, that means enjoying the company of a variety of ethnicities, nationaLities, etc on camrea.
As for RG Gasson, I don’t have much faith in anyone’s intellect who would consider Rabbit sensible. My question to you is HOW MUCH CHANGE ARE YOU IMPLEMENTING? At least by bringing the topic to the forum, instead of keeping it locked up inside, I’m the least lighting the fuse to bring about a change. And if others join me in making those complaints, change will be implmented. If I’m not a studio head, there’s not much more I can do, but at least I’m doing something. Give me credit for that, because I doubt you can say the same.
Damn, it’s been 2 weeks. Move on already. I think Tre has a crush on me since he can’t seem to stop talking about me.
tre its ricky sinz.
i think you are definitely on to something with people of ethnic decent in porn
it seems like there ae alot of people with certain ethnicity who dont get the right opportunities in porn or are looked over all together.
i have actually had many conversations with people about this.
and the lack of performers that will not work with people of opposite color or do interracial scenes
cory koons for example is one hot mother fucker i would love to do a scene with him.
diesel washington is another one of my personal favorites who i would love to do a scene with as well.
i have been working on alot of side projects one being an all black/latino line that im hoping to launch soon.
i think your on to something but i think that maybe you should develop a line at some point to show the world what they are missing out on and show the world what kind of quality content can be produced.
where alot of studios fail to evolve that is where you should step in and make it the top content.
your full of fire so direct it in a way where you can make your mark.
and show everyone what these models can do.
