[Edits 07/14/08.] I spoke to performer, director and Lucas Entertainment CEO Michael Lucas yesterday about his forthcoming fuck flick SWALLOW WITH PRIDE. Quite a provocative title in these topsy-turvy times, eh? Falcon Studios recently announced they will back away from cum-eating following the heat they took for the controversial act in FLEET WEEK and other recent films. Chi Chi LaRue has repeatedly and loudly reiterated her longstanding opposition to it. Several years ago, Blue Blake and Gino Colbert caused a stir when they openly advertised cum-eating as a point of interest for their new flicks. Since then the porn biz has, once again, divided into two camps: Those who allow performers to swallow semen, and those who decidedly do not. SWALLOW WITH PRIDE was filmed overseas with an Eastern European cast, and features “a lot of watersports action and mouth cumshots,” Mr. Lucas tells me. The title was “not a provocation, but to the point. I’m not interested in provoking anyone√¢‚Ǩ‚ÄùI’m interested in exciting people.” Click here for the rest of our interview…

Mr. Lucas is unaware of any industry debate over the issue. “But let me tell you,” he says, “I’m not really afraid of receiving any of this ‘heat’ from the industry. I am interested only in the opinion of my customers and my own beliefs, which are at total peace with the issue. I am not a schoolboy and don’t worry about negative reactions.”

Indeed, he blogged about it two years ago, in response to a fan’s concern about cum-eating in his films. Mr. Lucas articulated his stance on this issue, which hasn’t changed (click here for the full entry): “Let me be very clear: Whenever two adults engage in sex, there is always a risk involved. It’s not just about contracting HIV. It is about contracting many other sexually transmitted diseases which are much easier to get. One should always decide where to draw the line. Some say that technically you can get HIV just by kissing. Let’s imagine that both partners just flossed before or have some kind of mouth wounds. Should I just put a condom all over their face and body? How sterile should sex be?”

That’s the question we face: In the business of erotic fantasy, are we now at risk of producing sterile onscreen sex? Where should gay porn producers draw the line?

“I believe that what I am doing is the right thing and that I am not harming anybody,” Mr. Lucas told me and points out that he has researched the issue and spoken to HIV specialists about the risks involved. “I have always had optional cum-eating in my films. As long as a guy is willing to do so, he is welcome to take cum in his mouth.”

He reiterates that he is HIV negative himself, someone “who’s had a good share of sex with multiple partners and I knew that at least a quarter of them were HIV-positive. I never discriminated against anyone. I used condoms with partners that were HIV-negative and -positive. I didn’t change my behavior in any way.”

Mr. Lucas has no issue with colleagues who take a opposite stance on the issue. “I very much respect the opinions of other people, and I think they should stick to those opinions, so they will be at peace with themselves, just as I am with myself.”

If a model chooses to take cum in his mouth during a scene, Mr. Lucas advises them to avoid brushing or flossing their teeth for at least an hour before filming, and to use mouthwash instead. “Saliva has strong enzymes which may protect against HIV, and the skin in one’s mouth is much thicker than that in one’s anus, which makes it more resilient,” he says.

Thoughts? Where does gay adult draw the line before the onscreen sex fantasies they produce become too sterile?

This issue was discussed ad nauseum during the whole “Fleet Week” controversy. I, for one, have had my fill of it (no pun intended).

But we never did get to the bottom of the controversy over that bareback film Michael allegedly produced/bought/stole, did we?

  2. timmy on July 9, 2008 12:49 pm

Lucas is lying about “being unaware of any industry debate over the issue.” He’s had oral cumshots in his movies for years and never promoted it at all……and then one of the first movies he puts out after the “Fleet Week” controversy SCREAMS oral cum shots (from the title, to the images to the press release). He’s clearly courting controversy with this movie which is fine but why lie?

For once I agree with this Lucas character….the least of gay porn’s problem are actors having mouth/facial cum shots…they should be more concerned about the bad movies they’re producing for the last year or so…it’s like our economy..at an all time LOW!

  4. Anonymous on July 9, 2008 3:23 pm

Why do you label it “sterile” just because safer sex practices are maintained in a film?? Are you saying that to be not “sterile” films need to include oral cumshots or full bareback?

There are plenty of hot, raunchy, nasty films from HH, RSS, ChiChi and others that use condoms and don’t do oral cumshtos…I would hardly call them “Sterile”.

  5. dandy on July 9, 2008 4:10 pm

In my opinion, a lot of movies produced by the major studios are “sterile.” If performers decide to do oral cumshots or barebacking, and they know the risks, no one should stop them. There is obvioulsy a great audience for the cum swallowing and bareback movies. Why can’t all studios peacefully coexist and produce the kinds of porn they choose.

  6. Anonymous on July 9, 2008 4:28 pm

    dandy,

So do you not care that gay boys and gay men are DYING?

The CDC reported a couple weeks ago that a second HIV/AIDS epidemic is coming.

I think responsibility must lie somewhere and the studios can be raunchy and tasteful at the same time without risking lives for what amounts to very meager pay.

  7. Anonymous on July 9, 2008 4:39 pm

It is the choice of the performers to do bareback or not. They know the risks. No one is forcing them. After all, the performers are adults. The studios have a right to produce the kind porn they choose. If a performer does not agree to bareback for the “meager” pay, they are free to move on. If you don’t think that the studios are being responsible, don’t watch the porn they produce.

anon, not just among gays, straight are also going to get the latest epidemic.

  9. Eat My Ginch on July 10, 2008 7:29 am

Dandy & July 9th’s Anonymous are absolutely right. The models are adults and if they want to perform risky sex, do meth on camera or cut themselves up with rusty razors and bleed all over their partners, they should be allowed to do so. It’s not like their behavior will be copied by impressionable fans. And as long as both performers and the porn studio are okay with it, then there’s absolutely nothing morally wrong with it. I’m sure Dandy and 7/9 Anon would love to watch Zeb Atlas shooting up while he’s taking a cum shot in his mouth and being beaten with a baseball bat and called “faggot” as much as the rest of us. Hey, if they’re at peace with it, then it’s okay!

Hooray for Michael Lucas for admitting that he has had the same risky sex that his models do. It takes a man of a certain caliber to–hmmm? What’s that? He only admitted to using condoms? He didn’t say if he took oral cumshots and swallowed?

But I know Michael would be fair about this. I mean, I haven’t seen many of his films, but he would never ask an employee…someone who he makes money off of…to do something risky that he himself wouldn’t do. I mean, HE has taken an oral cumshot in one of his films, right?

    Right??

I thought that I had read somewhere that no-one had ever contracted aids from swallowing cum. Is this not valid info anymore?

Also I thought that to contract aids from anal intercourse you have someone cum up your butt. Porn performers dont do that. So is’nt their risk of catching aids nearly non existant?

  12. Pornus Addictus on July 10, 2008 8:38 am

Bareback should be banned at once and this by law. Oral cumsots aren’t risky if the rules (as said by ML)are followed no swallowing

  13. Pornus Addictus on July 10, 2008 8:41 am

and attention to gum problems. And u can’t get HIV from deep kissing, why do so many people not know what safe sex (read how not to get HIV) is about? The other sexual diseases are another matter. Moreover referring to some anonymous RSS has produced some of the most sterile movies ever: yes, it looks hard, they use leather and whatever but that doesn’t make it less sterile, los tof thre sex is soooooo mechanical, read so sterile, so badly faked, so unnatural (hear the stupid sound) etcetc

  14. Anonymous on July 10, 2008 8:50 am

Okay, this idea that you should let models do whatever they want to do, even if it√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s dangerous, is just ridiculous! There are plenty of dimwitted or just plain desperate miners that would gladly go down in a coal mine without a hardhat or safety equipment for the right money. But guess what folks we don’t let them! When you are paying another human being to perform a potentially dangerous act, you have a moral and ethical obligation to mitigate any risk. These are commercially exploited sexual acts we are talking about, not personal and private encounters between two adults! You need to separate what people choose to do in their private lives, versus commercially exploited sexual acts.

The above analysis is correct. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

  16. Dandy on July 10, 2008 7:03 pm

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, porn is not regulated by OHSA. If porn was regualted as Anonomyous on July 10 suggests it woould not be long before they regulated gay porn out of business.

  17. Carol Brunette on July 11, 2008 12:10 am

I suggest we bring back Snuff films

That will settle the bareback issue once and forever!

  18. Will on July 11, 2008 1:21 am

Carol - Some might say they are the same thing. (Not me, Carol.)

  19. Anonymous on July 11, 2008 9:50 am

This is not just about OSHA and the laws, or lack of them. This is about ethics and how we choose to treat other human beings. Especially ones that are being paid to perform potentially unsafe sex acts. Where have we gone as a community that we are okay with paying some 18 year old kid $300 to take loads up his ass for our entertainment! Then trying to justify it by saying, well it’s his decision! That’s just pathetic and shows how complacent and apathetic we have become as a community.

  20. Dandy on July 11, 2008 5:28 pm

Whether you like it or not, an 18 year old can make the decision to take loads up his ass. He is an adult. If his is doing it camera it is very likely that he is doing it in his personal life. Mabye I am aptathetic. I believe in “live and let live.” If bareback sex is against your morals and ethics then dont bareback and dont purchase/watch porn that features bareback. Fortunately everyone does not share the same ethics and morals.

  21. Ass Freak on July 12, 2008 1:20 am

an 18-year old an adult? Ur nuts most 18 year olds are emotionally still kids, they HAVE to be protected against themselves. Live and let live does not apply always to the best effect of humankind….

  22. Alan on July 12, 2008 9:14 am

People who think bareback should banned are just censors by another name. The notion that porn audiences are going to imitate what they see on the screen in incredibly patronizing.

Furthermore, the outdated implication that HIV is a death sentence is incredibly insulting and demoralizing for all the people who are living, and thriving, with it.

The bareback police really piss me off. Their lofty, we-know-best attitude is the same one I’ve been fighting in the Bible Bangers for years.

  23. rich on July 12, 2008 9:45 am

All this drama over swallowing… Hello! Matthew Rush got sick recently from eating ass. How come nobody’s calling for a ban on butt licking?

Could it be because the no swallow police are really into to ass eating, and they don’t want to give it up — even though porn actors put their health at risk every time they do it?

  24. Anonymous on July 12, 2008 1:39 pm

What happened to people taking responsibility for their own actions? Why is it the responsibility of the porn studios to make sure that people are practicing safe sex? It’s sad that we live in a country that’s always trying to pass blame on to other people when it’s ourselves that need to step and be responsible for our own actions!

  25. Dandy on July 12, 2008 6:59 pm

    Dear Ass Freak,
Eighteen year olds are adults, according to the law. Otherwise, they would not be able to perform legally in porn. I know 18 year olds that are wise beyond their age and and 5o year olds that are stuck in perpetual childhood. Should we monitor the 50 year olds who are barebacking in porn as we do the 18 year olds? At what age are you mature enough to asess the risks of your own sexual behavior without the input of the bareback police?
