Erotic Advertising: The Beauty Shot as DVD Cover

The other day I wrote about the unusual decision for Hot House to promote their forthcoming KING SIZE with a glamour shot of Kyle King, rather than with the standard collage of bared flesh (click here or scroll down a few stories). Here are two additional examples released in the last year or so: OLIVER TWINK from PZP Productions has a glam shot of Dillon Samuels in character as Oliver Twink, while import YOUNG & UNCUT 16 from Cream of the Crop Video and The French Connection (it’s not clear who is responsible for designing the insert) features a lovely, soft-focus vanilla cookie of a Euro-pup in a snuggly turtleneck. The latter could just as easily be a yearbook photo, and for all I know it is one, but I agree with the majority of our Constant Readers that the use of a glamour shot as a DVD insert does impart an appealingly mysterious tease.

    I agree with Becky. Especially with the yearbook photo, you’re using that term too loosely!

    The one in the rollneck sweater looks like an actor from Cadinot, the other one will make Charles Dickens turn in his grave!

    Sinu, thanks for the Charles Dickens comment :-) I think he’s still turning in his grave from the whole movie.

    We were not planning on a “glamour shot” for the cover. It was actually going to be Oliver on his knees naked, asking for MORE. But then I came across that one photo, and I immediately fell in love with it. I sent it out to my distributor and other colleagues, and they all agreed that I should go with the G-Rated photo. And then √¢‚Ǩ≈ìAllboy Magazine√¢‚Ǩ¬ù used the DVD cover as their cover for the issue where they featured √¢‚Ǩ≈ìOliver Twink.√¢‚Ǩ¬ù

    I personally like to see a facial cum shot or a penetration shot on covers, but some retail stores prefer the more soft-core covers.

    And Becky, all my models are over 18 — proof on file. LOL!
