Press Release Roundup: Pacific Sun Entertainment recently announced the addition of Skin2Skin Films to their distribution roster in a deal that covers DVDs, VOD and pay-per-view. Helmer Lazaro Wineman‘s focus is on 18-23-year-olds; they don’t have a broad catalog and are perhaps best known for performer Erec Estrada‘s 2005 LITTLE SHOP… series: EREC’S LITTLE SHOP OF PORN, EREC’S LITTLE SHOP OF FLOWERS, et. al. PacSun is billing Skin2Skin as producers of “socially responsible bareback twink” films. “All models are freshly tested before a shoot and we warn our customer base to view these titles as a fantasy replacement,” the company states in the press release. “Having said that, the fantasy portrayal for this customer base is very strong… Pacific Sun remains strongly committed to safe sex, but is open to distribute all genres of XXX entertainment as long as it is socially responsible.” Hot Desert Knights adopted a similar tack earlier this year when they announced they would test for HIV/AIDS and sero-sort their performers (click here). “Socially responsible bareback films” is an interesting bit of phraseology given the stalemate gay adult seems to have reached over this issue√¢‚Ǩ‚Äùbareback companies clearly aren’t going anywhere and have only grown in prominence and popularity, while those on the other side of the aisle wish these companies would just dry up and blow away overnight. We could argue that testing for HIV/AIDS and then sero-sorting is a step in the right direction if the films are going to be made at all; and arming performers with more knowledge about their sexual health is something all gay adult producers ought to be doing regularly anyway. Thoughts?

Gimme a break! “Socially Responsible” & “Pre-Condom Classic” are simply ridiculous justifications for companies NEEDING to sell bareback porn to stay current in today’s markets. No one who owns a company in this business really gives two shits about being “Socially Responsible.” It’s all about the bottom line $$$$$. And I think we all know by now that if an ADULT performer wants to have bb sex with another ADULT performer and full disclosure is shared about their status, people can piss & moan all they want, nothing’s going to change. BB porn is going to prevail. More models in this industry have died over the past few years due to over use of steroids and recreational drugs than of hiv/aids. —Discuss— ;-)

“. . .if an ADULT performer wants to have bb sex with another ADULT performer and full disclosure is shared about their status. . .”

Dino, how is there going to be “full disclosure” unless the models have the most up-to-date test results? You can’t disclose what you don’t know. Maybe instead of calling it “socially responsible” it should be called “better than nothing.”

  3. Dino Phillips on July 24, 2008 11:43 am

I like “better than nothing.” ;-)

In referring to 2 performers who are already poz…it’s a no-brainer…”Hi, I’m poz.” “So am I.” “OK, let’s fuck.” ;-) I’m sure it’s the same conversation as if they would’ve met the night before in a bar.

As far as two neg performers…of course, the most recent hiv test results must be presented to each model. This is where the risk comes in. We know the performer could’ve contracted hiv since the last test result. That’s why I would encourage whoever is neg NOT to do bb porn (or bb in their own private lives.) However, as I said before, these guys are adults and if they want to have bb sex while neg, they’re going to have it…risk or not.

Maybe to explain this outburst, it is necessary to provide one piece of information, missing from the PSE press release as well as from JC’s piece. Skin2Skin Films’ previous distributor was none other than 1 Distribution, a company with which Dino Phillips is, or was, I believe, closely associated. Now, that’s one bareback company that’s going nowhere fast!

What does one have to do with the other?

Yeah, we’re goin’ nowhere fast ;-) lol

The other bit of information I left out is that the Skin2Skin movies were our worst sellers. (They sort of suck) ;-)

Though I may not agree with Dino on his views regarding bareback…I DO have to agree with his last statement. Those titles aren’t the best in the bunch!!

well, i though (and still think) Eric Estrada a wonderful performer and every scene he was involved in, did it for me. More with him!!!

Bareback porn is here to stay. We should all get used to it. If one thinks that BB is socially irresponsible, one should avoid watching BB movies. Personally, I enjoy them.

One of my closest friends just seroconverted. The rate of people I know who are is just as bad as I recall it ebing in the 80′s — except ion those days it was people coming down with symptoms. For an industry that trades in portraying sex to make excuses for itself in producing material that displays risky behavior is simply evil. And it has tremendous backlash potential as well. For us to be silent on this is simply wrong. Please, take your winky face and go see a shrink if you think this is something to wink about.

To the last poster: Rates of new infection are falling. Check out this graph of new infections from San Francisco.:

    2003
    839

    2004
    803

    2005
    651

    2006
    500

    2007
    467

You can see every year the rate of new cases is falling. however this doe snot get reorted because it doe snot fit into the alarmist narrative that HIV is just like the 80′s again and we need to give up all our sexual freedoms.

I don’t understand why we can’t see the prolonged lifetimes of HIV positive people and dropping rates of new infection as a good thing, or why it is just ignored altogether in favor of promoting the sky is falling narrative.

That’s just San Francisco! Hell, most everyone here already has HIV! For gaymen over 35 the rates are dropping, while gaymen under 24 rates are sharply rising. You can’t just look at SF rates and say that HIV is declining.

It’s the new generation of young gaymen that are the primary focus and concern.

    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/113244.php

40,000-60,000 new cases of HIV infections yearly in the USA alone is an epidemic! Especially when gaymen represent almost half of the new cases yet we only represent 4-6% of the population. HIV/AIDS is still an major concern for gaymen.
