Press Release Roundup: The shaking is over and we’re back to the business of porn… Pantheon Productions and The French Connection have announced a new subsidiary line, Pantheon Bear, and its debut title BEAR OASIS, set to drop August 8. Pantheon CEO Chris Roma notes that although the studio has typically included bearish men in their films, the new flick is their first “all-bear video.” Pantheon Bear joins Real Men — “all types of men over 40…with a few younger guys thrown in the mix” — series DADDY FLIES SOLO and intergenerational series DADDY HUNT, among other lines. Bear-centric titles snagged Pantheon GAYVN nods in 2005, ’06 and a 2007 win for ROUGH & READY: REAL MEN, VOL. 11. BEAR OASIS was directed, shot, edited and scored (whew!) by Walter Romero; the cast includes Marc Angelo, Truman Hunter, Rik Kappus, Rob Lawrence, Jake Mitchell, Dan Rhodes, Clint Taylor and Jeff Wells. Nice to see some diversity. I appreciate the more fit, husky bears (that is an overused term, but we’re stuck with it), than the CyberBears mold. Would also love to have a “bear” company try not to make a video that looks like it had a budget of $3.50. Just because you don’t have the cash flow to make a big, lush movie doesn’t mean it has to look like it. I’d appreciate hearing whether this new one looks equally low-budget.
