Manhunt Co-Founder Jonathan Crutchley Resigns
August 15, 2008 | 17 Comments
BREAKING NEWS: Jonathan Crutchley, the Chairman and Co-founder of Manhunt.net, has resigned at the request of the company’s board of directors. Earlier this week the gay blogosphere erupted over the revelation, first reported via the Huffington Post’s campaign donation tracker (CLICK HERE), that he had donated $2300, the maximum allowable amount, to the presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain. (CLICK HERE for our original story.) Earlier today, blogger Andy Towle confirmed the authenticity of a statement he received (CLICK HERE) from Manhunt co-founder Larry Basile citing the resignation. “Though Crutchley has stepped down from the board,” Mr. Towle writes, “as far as we know he’s still collecting money from thousands of gays and donating it to a presidential candidate who would deny them status as equal cititzens.” Click here for Larry Brasile’s statement…
Larry Basile: “There has been a depiction this week of Manhunt being Republican. All my life, I have never voted to the right, and have always been generous to 20th Century Democrats, Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, HRC, and the NGLTF.
“I was arrested at the Supreme Court and FDA in ACT-Up actions, and was the founder of the Grass Roots Gay Rights Fund, which over the years has raised more than $800K. I was the Treasurer of Out Week magazine, which was a powerful force in its time. I began giving Obama donations in March 2007, and I have sent several checks that have yet to be reported. The hat and T-shirt I wear say ‘Obama for President,’ as does the sign in front of my house. I refuse to live in a country that is so marred by war and hate. To me, [Obama] is by far the best candidate, probably better than we deserve.
“It should be known that Jonathan Crutchley’s donation to McCain left the entire Board in disbelief. I am disappointed that we have lost some customers, and I understand the anger. It is too bad for the web site if we lose customers, but please never refer to me as a Republican. I consider it an offense.
“Earlier today, at the request of the Board, Jonathan has stepped down as Chairman. Sincerely, Larry Basile.”

Well, good. There should be some consequence to this man’s support of right-wing presidential candidates, all the while taking money from gay men.
But what I want to know is if he’s still getting paid, still benefitting from gay money?
I found this at JoeMyGod:
“It’s been 24 hours and so far not a peep about the McCain/Manhunt story in the MSM, despite the story headlining virtually all gay and progressive blogs and forums.”
Good riddance to Republican rubbish.
I am surprised that John McCain will be 72 in 13 days time. I thought he was older!

It was all a dastardly plot to get himself a nice early retirement package from the board. And he’s leaving a lovely mess behind him for them to clean up. But yes, good riddance.
They should have that TROLLS head on an ingraved platter!:-)))

Crutchley pointed out that both candidates were AGAINST gay marriage. He felt McCain the overall better candidate. Liberal gay Dems scare me. They’ll be having everyone burn books next.
Log Cabin in NC
Their are any alternatives. Let’s see: gayromeo (unlimited amount of messages, very popular in Europe and free), recon (for the heavier action), gaydar, dudesnude, etc.
Let’s all leave Manhunt and get profiles elsewhere…
Pornography, the ultimate in freedom of speech, shuns Founder who expressed his opinion.
a Republican
Obama’s opposition to gay marriage is a question of semantics. He’s hung up on the word marriage, but he’s not opposed to giving gay couples the same rights as married couples. He’s even spoken out against homophobic bigotry. McCain on the other hand, is pandering to homophobic religious groups and he just returned Crutchley’s donation because he doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.
Leaving gay rights aside though, McCain has proven in recent weeks that he’s a senile, old warmongering coot who can’t remember what he says from one minute to the next. His presidency would be even more disastrous than W’s.
How rich the ultimate conundrum of a Log Cabin Republican, your rejected by your own and given the big ole “Fuck you” by the GOP establishment!
(McCain returns the homo money)
So Hilarious and so
EXPECTED!
This is for Doug, our Log Cabin friend, from the blog Pam’s House Blend:
“The presumptive GOP nom continues his humiliation of the Log Cabin Republicans these days by making sure he publicly trashes LGBTs and runs for cover. The gay Republican organization has gone out of its way to support McCain, court him, and obviously donate to him and all they have to show for it is, well, a big goose egg of commitments and a public kick in the posterior.”
I will never understand why gays belong to a party that wishes nothing but ill will on them
Because they are the rich and they want to keep more of their money, which the Republicans let them do. As usual the lust for more money trumps their moral integrity.
So, what will the reaction from the gay porn industry be?
HotHouse promoted ManHunt with two big DVDs and Manhunt just launched a huge online porn site with original videos … promoted on this very blog back in April.

Will porn actors and directors back away from Manhunt too?
