You may have heard about Zack & Miri Make a Porno, the new film from writer/director/ slacker god Kevin Smith. Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks star as a couple of, well, slackers who run out of cash and decide to make a blue movie of their very own. The red-band trailer — ooh, swears! — has just been released (CLICK HERE). Justin Long (a/k/a “Hello, I’m a Mac,” pictured) is featured as a gay porn actor who provides inspiration to our titular heroes; his boyfriend in the film is played by Brandon Routh, best known for moping through Superman Returns as the beautifully depressed (or is that depressingly beautiful?) Man of Steel. The jokes in the Zack & Miri trailer are annoyingly warmed-over cliches — porn stars can’t act! Porn movie titles are funny! Women have breasts! — but I’m willing to cut Mr. Smith some slack. Still, despite having to degrade themselves in the skin trade, I’ll go out on a limb and assume everything turns out just fine for the old duffers. Oh, straight people are so precious you could just pinch their widdle cheeks. [H/T Towleroad.]

My completely uninformed instant review (I didn’t even watch the trailer):

It just sounds so retro. It’s not a period piece, is it? I mean, who “makes a fortune” making one stupid porn movie in today’s market? With Justin Long in the cast, you’d think they would at least be trying to launch a website or something.

He was also in that ryan reynolds epic “waiting”. BOOOOOO!! Kevin Smith once told me that if talent were making the same movie over and over again, he’d be one of the most talented directors/actors/producers/ writers ever.

Will, I also believe that the photon torpedoes on the enterprise in star trek would so obviously blow up the entire ship if they were ever used. I mean duh! Harry Potter is so totally…fictional!

Anonymous 2:25 – Oh I see! This film is in the science-fiction/fantasy genre! And here I mistakenly thought it took place today in the real world. Never mind.
