AVN Awards Add Web Categories

September 6, 2008 |

Late this week AVN Awards organizers announced their first batch of internet-only categories: Best New Web Starlet; Site of the Year/Best Adult Website; and Web Starlet of the Year. “The continuing convergence of our industry compelled us to add several important categories focusing specifically on online content and performers,” said AVN Online Publisher MJ McMahon (CLICK HERE). “It’s due time we give recognition to some of the individuals and talent driving this sector of the business.” Best New Web Starlet “must have a site focused specifically on her that has debuted in the last year (Sept. 1, 2007)” and “judging will be based on the performer’s online body of work only, including video, photo and editorial content.” The website category will be judged on “content quality, quantity and originality, site design, usability and features,” while the Web Starlet of the Year trophy goes to “the top female performer on the internet” — talk about bragging rights! — and qualifications are the same as the other performer category. So does this mean web categories are inevitable for the GAYVN Awards, too? Let’s help them out, shall we? Using the same (or similar) qualifications, who would you nom for Best New Web Stud, Gay Site of the Year/Best Gay Adult Website, and Web Stud of the Year?

I honestly think it’s nearly impossible for the ordinary consumer to nominate anyone unless they are VERY rich. There is just so much out there, and memberships ain’t cheap. Perhaps the sheer volume is one reason these awards presenters have been so reluctant to wade into these waters.

Just going by the pics I’ve seen and some of the videos I’ve been lucky enough to see, I think the best gay adult websites with video content are Randy Blue, Chaosmen, and Sean Cody.

“Best new web stud” is Barry from Sean Cody.

“Web stud of the year” is Chris Rockaway from Randy Blue.

I think Randy Blue has done some very innovative things this year, so just going on my very limited knowledge would nominate that site also. If there was an award for most publicized website, CockyBoys would win hands down!

Oh, and I forgot another hottie: Gage Wilson from Randy Blue and Sean Cody.
