September 13, 2008 | 3 Comments
Press Release Roundup: Constant Readers in and around Liverpool, England have a rare, up-close-and-personal opportunity to check out the erotic artwork of Tom of Finland. A retrospective is being presented by the Tom of Finland Foundation, Gaydar UK and queer arts festival Homotopia at the Contemporary Urban Centre on Greenland Street in Liverpool. It opens September 20 and runs through November 20 (the Homotopia festival runs the entire month of November). “This exhibition is a major retrospective of the drawings by legendary gay artist Tom of Finland,” the foundation said. “88 works on paper from 1944 to 1989 will be on display and includes 25 of the artist’s most iconic works ‚Äî each one representing one of the 25 years his Foundation has been at the helm of preserving, protecting and promoting the erotic arts.” CLICK HERE for more details about the retrospective on Homotopia’s website. And CLICK HERE for a short (12 minutes and change), illuminating and somewhat wistful documentary on Homotopia.tv about the artist, with an interview with Tom of Finland Foundation co-founder and archivist Durk Dehner.

Wow, I might actually be nearby to go see this… Loved the little documentary about Tom of Finland, who I know nothing about.
