My colleagues over at GayPornBlog got an intriguing discussion going the other day: “Rape: Gay Porn’s Newest Fetish?” The blog post mentions the recent Mason Wyler controversy — plus the arrest and rape conviction of straight porn actor Jack Venice, who has been featured on several gay-adjacent pro/am sites — in light of rape scenarios enacted online in ARMED (starring Pistol Pete) from Stag Homme Studios, as well as in Raging Stallion‘s upcoming TO THE LAST MAN. “There was a time when rape was pretty much an abstract concept to gay men. Now suddenly — and strangely — it’s all over the place, especially our porn,” writes GPB. This isn’t actually new to gay adult; Constant Readers with long memories will recall Blue Blake‘s rape (offscreen) of a drugged Brent Cross in MEN IN BLUE (1998, New Age Pictures), or the borderline violent coercion of HELL ROOM (2005, MSR Videos). Just in the last year or so we’ve had similar elements in Titan’s FEAR and Dark Alley’s GAYTANAMO, to cite two examples, among dozens, off the top of my head. Rape fantasies — we’re talking pure fiction, people — are fairly common. Clearly it has some resonance given the prevalence of violent coercion in gay adult — to say nothing of the all-too-willing bottom “forced” onto his knees in hundreds of movies — going back to the very beginning. But where or when does it cross the line? Has our tolerance level changed in recent years? Share your thoughts. [Image © Raging Stallion.]

The interesting thing is that, historically, gay porn has featured plenty of rape scenes. 1972′s A DEEP COMPASSION, 1980′s BOOTS AND SADDLES, 1986′s POWERTOOL. 1980′s KILLING ME SOFTLY even had a serial killer murdering gay men after they reached orgasm to feed his own desires. So this is really nothing new. After the Meese Commission took the adult industry to task for mixing sex and violence, both gay and straight industries were more careful with what they included in their videos (Kevin Williams’ S&M lazy susan scene in HOT RODS is a good example of scenes frequently censored

Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that violence in gay porn has gone to the extremes that it has. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the eyes of the government haven’t been as heavily fixed on the adult video industry as decades previously. But with the imprisonment of Max Hardcore and other controversies surrounding Brent Everett, Brian Kocis, etc., the eyes of the feds may once again begin turning on the adult industry.

Between the whole Cobra thing and this new passion for Rape themes we should not be surprised if we wake up one morning to find our porn outlawed! Freedom is a very great thing but when taken to the extreme we risk losing it

So portrayals of so-called rape/rape fantasy are the current fetish du jour. Would these scenarios be repleat with blood, cuts, scrapes, gashes and worse? Why make rape legit? Rape is nothing more then the condoning of a crime against the person of another. I fail to see any entertainment value in rape portrayals whatsoever.

I don’t think this is just about rape i.e. rise in barebacking and extreme sex as well. I have watched all kinds of porn and I have to admit I have been shocked at some stuff I have found on people’s personal blogs and on sites like xtube more so than on DVD’s I have bought.

Its a difficult job to regulate this now since any old idiot can put a website together with porn movies on them.

rape, piss, fisting, blood, murder…..gay porn??? Sick really; luckily there are still some ‘normal’ porn producing companies

It is surprising to see so many rape fantasies and extreme(fetish)in gay porn. Why is there no outcry like there is in straight porn? Simple answer to that, homophobia. You don’t see gay men out there protesting against porn like women did when it was considered chic to show X-rated fare and carry Playboy and Penthouse at your local 7-11.The way porn has advanced in this internet age, don’t be surprised if the government does clamp down on this extreme type of entertainment.

Any “rape” fantasy scenario that I have seen played out in gay porn, up till now anyway, has always been so clearly a CONSENSUAL fantasy between consenting adult models that I think this outrage is a little silly. The old adage seems to apply: If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

It actually seems to be the straight side of the business where it crosses over into a murky and problematic grey zone, where the violence against women that is portrayed is so realistic as to be sickening. There was just a successful federal prosecution in Tampa, Fla. of these kinds of videos, and the descriptions I read of them actually turned my stomach. I’ve never seen or heard of anything remotely similar in gay porn.

I remember seeing a non-consensual scene in Raging Stallion’s movie Cops Gone Bad. So they’ve done this before. Why is it an issue now? And if something like this causes controversy, then I wonder how people would feel about that website Straight Hell.

Forced sex was a recurring theme is a lot of JD Cadinot Films, a fact which always seemed very strange to me.

Kidnappings and forced sex are ongoing themes in Cazzo Films.

It actually may have been the impact (success?) of Bruce LaBruce and Cazzo Films that have prompted more “extremeness” in Gay Videos.

There is an assault and rape of an inter-racial couple in Bruce LaBruce’s Skin Flick / Skin Gang. I won’t repeat here what the Skin Heads chanted while they are gang raping the Black Guy part of the interracial couple. But, Let’s just say that I doubt that a US Gay Video Production Company would dare produce a rape scene of a Black Person like the rape of the Black Guy in Bruce LaBruce’s Skin Flick / Skin Gang.

While I did not care for Cadinot’s and Cazzo’s use of violence and force sex in their films, there was actually a “point” to these acts being in the films, the scene were presented pursuant to an actually storyline. There are some extreme scenes I’ve seen in some Gay Videos lately which seem very POINTLESS, as if the production was just trying to get some press by shocking people.

Hi all, I feel as a society (gay or straight) we have tendency to blame movies, games and art as excuse to justify behavior which is WRONG! First I enjoy violent sex scenes however, as a adult I realize that forcing someone against their will to have sex is WRONG! That is the bottom line if you know it is wrong before you see it in movie, on tv, read it in a book. Then why would it suddenly be okay? If you see it in porn movie. I like aggressive violent sex because it more intense! Yet I realize it is FANTASY use it to get off that is the end of it. Maybe if as a society we stop pointing fingers at external causes and put the blame where it belongs on the individual who crosses the line.

Wow. Personally I think it is hot. But is still a little taboo. I can see where it would make people think twice about certain issues. I have been following the ongoing war of words between Mason Wyler and Chad Manning on their blogs. Chad Manning has blasted Mason for his story and literally called him a liar and fraud. Pretty interesting.

wylernation.com and chadmanningxxx.blogspot.com is where you can see this drama unfold.

I have to say that I really like the aggressive side of sex and I am glad that the porn studios are depicting these types of scenes. I really enjoy watching all of it. LOL

    Cheers!
