Re-Release Desk: “Rectum of Solace”

Re-Release Desk: I don’t normally write about compilations, but RECTUM OF SOLACE was just too damned good to pass up. Man, there’s just so much you can do with that… It’s a four-hour smorgasbord culled from the HIS Video vaults (via LFP Video Group). At first I assumed it was a smash-up of their recent Jim Steel-directed titles like YOUNG DUMB AND HUNG, DEVIL INSIDE and TEACHER’S PET. But upon closer inspection the cast list has names like Ren Adams, Karl Bruno, Brent Cross, Brian Maxon and Scott Randsome. So we’re going back a spell for RECTUM OF SOLACE. (Also, from the once-bitten school of la publicit√©, the back of the DVD insert proclaims, “If the photo is outside, the scene is inside!”) Amusingly, the current edition of Unzipped touts their Ross Hurston cover feature with the headline “Quantum of Penis.” Ah, Daniel Craig, you can leave your hat on.

Now that’s a cover…LOL! I don’t actually mind the compilations so much. Four hours is a decent bargain.
