Hot House Pumps Up with Vince Ferelli

The announcement was made this week in Los Angeles during the XBIZ Conference. Jackson Wild’s XBIZ Awards Acceptance Speech

Jackson Wild won the trophy for GLBT Performer of the Year at the 2009 XBIZ Awards the other night, but he wasn’t able to accept in person. However, via his Fabscout representation and his Myspace profile, Mr. Wild yesterday released an acceptance speech. He also confirms that he’s left the biz for now. His statement (slightly edited for grammatical clarity): “I am proud and humbled with this award. I was unable to attend the XBIZ Awards ceremony but found out early this AM that I had received the coveted Performer of the Year in the LGBT movie category. I have recently taken myself out of the industry for personal reasons, but none the less after [two and a half] years of internet and moviemaking, all the hard work pays off. I want to thank my agent Howard Andrew over at Fabscout — hell, without him Jackson Wild, at least within the DVD market, never would have [become] that little bad boy. Randy Blue for teaching me the ropes of making it all look so freakin good, and to, of course, all the fans, without you the business wouldn’t be worth it at all! To everyone and anyone who has stepped foot into the world of Jackson Wild and tangled with this bad boy, I thank you all…“

The Biz: Dorcel, Sureflix Pact with Deutsche Telekom

[Editor's note: Gay Porn Times has signed a deal to provide LGBT content to industry publication XBIZ.] A freshly struck distro pact between French adult powerhouse Video Marc Dorcel and Canadian video-on-demand network Sureflix Digital Distribution will provide all-male content to be delivered through a variety of VOD platforms and services owned by German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom. The deal covers VOD content as well as IPTV and mobile phone delivery. The Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom is the largest telecommunications company in the European Union, with holdings that include the T-Mobile cellphone network. XBIZ Awards Unveiled in Hollywood

[Edited 11:30am.] The 2009 XBIZ Awards were unveiled in Hollywood tonight during a splashy shindig at the ritzy Boulevard3 nightclub on Sunset Blvd. Comedian Chris Wylde served as emcee alongside Adam & Eve contract starlets Kayden Kross and Bree Olsen. Among the GayPornLand contingent in attendance: Chi Chi LaRue and her Channel 1 Releasing posse, including Blake Riley and Jeremy Bilding; promoter Jason Sechrest; Collin O’Neal and his team; Steven Scarborough with the Hot House Entertainment group; Sureflix CEO Eric Johnson and his Maleflixxx team; Wolf Hudson, Steve Cruz and Nick Young, who spotted sultry, straight-porn starlet Sunny Leone and immediately crushed on her. He ran over and breathlessly introduced himself. “I can be your gay boyfriend! Matthew Rush Sets First Post-Falcon Projects

Press Release Roundup: Movies with Mark Wolff Video and Pantheon Productions are among the first filmed projects for performer Matthew Rush since parting ways with Falcon Studios in January. The fan-favorite bodybuilder had been an exclusive for the entirety of his adult career. Mr. Rush will anchor REAL MEN 17: BRIEF ENCOUNTERS for boutique label Pantheon Productions. XBIZ Conference Wraps Up Day Two

Among the highlights of the 2009 XBIZ Conference yesterday was a keynote address by legendary Adam & Eve founder Phil Harvey (pictured) during the Free Speech Coalition Members’ Luncheon. Mr. Harvey touched on a variety of topics, and indicated his cautious optimism about obscenity prosecutions under the Obama administration. He approves of the nomination by the president of David Ogden for deputy U.S. attorney general. He also gave his forecast for the future of the skin biz. “It looks to me like we’re recession proof,” he said. “Last year and early this year, sales are not booming, and they’re not growing. But they don’t really appear to be impacted by the economy at all, so I think we should be grateful. For businesses that are in trouble, I think we should be looking to other causes than the economy.” He sees a limited future for the DVD and Blu-ray. “We’ve got five, six, seven or eight years of both DVD and Blu-ray sales,” Mr. Harvey said. “A lot of folks think Blu-ray will be dominant, but that’s not something I have a sense on. Wash. State Rep Proposes 18.5% Porn Tax

Washington State Representative Mark Miloscia (D-Federal Way), has recently introduced House Bill 2013. If passed the legislation would raise the tax on adult entertainment products by 18.5 percent. The tax would be applied to “magazines, photos, videos, cable TV programs, telephone services, audiotapes, computer programs, sex toys and novelties” that are sexually graphic or sexually oriented in nature. However, online erotic content would be excluded. Also exempt would be magazines that contain no photographs or artwork, and any film or television program that might be risqué or sexually graphic but not so much as to be rated X by the Motion Picture Association of America. The bill contains language that states “adult entertainment materials and services result in increased costs to the state through the provision of increased governmental services, including human services and criminal justice services.” The proposal is now in committee. Mr. Miloscia is unconcerned about potential repercussions should the bill become law. “I don’t think the adult entertainment industry is an industry that my constituents would worry about going out of state,” he told a local newspaper. Washington State is currently facing an $8 billion-dollar budget gap. [XBIZ]

XBIZ Conference Wraps First Day

The 2009 XBIZ Conference wrapped its first full day yesterday at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, California. One packed seminar was titled “Legal Fact or Fiction: A Hard Look at Today’s Legal Realities,” and on everyone’s lips was the unanswered question about the porn-friendliness of the Obama administration. Throughout the day, I spotted various gay biz industryites including director Lucas Kazan and helmer Steven Scarborough with his Hot House team. I spotted Channel 1 Releasing‘s press guy, and performer Jeremy Bilding wandered by, so Chi Chi LaRue‘s team was likely in attendance. Several hundred showed up for a rare Q&A with pornmeister Larry Flynt. Diane Duke of the Free Speech Coalition asked what he’d do if he were to start out in the business today. XBIZ.com picked up Best Industry magazine for a third year during a ceremony honoring the best in GLBT online adult entertainment. “We are thrilled to be honored with a Cybersocket Award for a third time,” XBIZ President and founder Alec Helmy said. “Our mission has always been to provide the industry with the best coverage possible, and it’s great to be recognized for our efforts. Two-time Cybersocket loser

Well, kids, we lost again. Two years in a row. Gay Porn Times lost Best Adult Blog at the Cybersocket Web Awards for the second year. Those bitches at Queer Click took the award. Many thanks to our Constant Readers who voted for us. You should know lots of people love this blog; I was stopped repeatedly and told how GPTimes was an essential stop on so-and-so’s daily blog run. That’s nice and all, but clearly not enough of these hos liked it enough to actually vote. Ah, well. Oh, and I also heard about how your comments are closely watched by various bigwigs, too. The show last night was packed to the rafters; Steven Scarborough was there, Chris Ward, Steve Cruz, directrix Chi Chi LaRue served as hostess with Blake Riley and Johnny Hazzard handing out the awards. The show itself was snappy and quick; kudos to Morgan Sommer and Tim Lutz from Cybersocket for the party. There was a tight-bodied, bubbled-butted aerialist performing feats of derring-do suspended from the ceiling. Randy Blue with his posse, the CockyBoys team, Jason Sechrest, Derek Kent, reviewer Mickey Skee, Jason Hawke celebrating his pending 30th birthday, Lucas Kazan, Tim Valenti and Sister Roma, Unzipped editor Dustin Tyner, GAYVN editor Harker Jones, luscious Cody Cummings, Nash Lawler, Brent Everett, Collin O’Neal, Jeremy Bilding, Rock from Rockafellaz, Trevor Knight, et. al. Whatever, we lost. I did get to go onstage with the XBIZ.com to help accept their win for Best Industry Magazine. That and my double-double from In ‘N Out afterwards saved the night. Mustang Studios Gets Dirty with ‘XXX’

The all-male film is a break from the “Color Box” trilogy the pair had been helming for Mustang, a series that includes BLUE MOVIE and RED LIGHT. The film is scheduled to street April 28, to be preceded by a web-exclusive, “pre-release” vignette on the official studio website featuring XXX castmates Derek da Silva and Scott Campbell. Additional players in the film include veteran performers Vinnie D’Angelo and Arpad Miklos with Scott Alexander and newcomers Race Cooper, Colby Keller and Cole Streets. 2009 GAYVN Noms Announced

The 2009 GAYVN Awards nominations were announced this morning, and one big change is readily apparent: There are a lot more nominees than usual. The marquee categories have been expanded well beyond the usual ten nominations. Here’s a quick rundown of the top nominees: Raging Stallion Studios appears to dominate the studio tally with a bushel of nods for TO THE LAST MAN 1-2, natch. A total of sixteen films are up for Best Picture; Dink Flamingo’s Dirty Bird Pictures is the only studio with two films — ENDGAME and THE PORNE ULTIMATUM — in contention. A whopping 18 films earned a Best Director citation (not counting directing teams), while 19 are in contention for Performer of the Year and Best Actor, and 15 for Best Newcomer.
