After reading (even excerpts of) another Michael Lucas interview, I’m left wondering if Michael has to purchase a 2nd seat for his ego when he flies?
I’m not really meaning this to bash ML, but it’s just that the more I read/see about him (or when reading his blog – a practise I’ve had to give up), the more unpleasant I find his personality to be… And yet, I have to say that of the ‘major studios’ producing gay porn DVDs – I’d rank Lucas Entertainment ahead of anyone else in making porn that consistently gets me off…
It’s a very strange (and often frustrating) dichotomy for me, particularly because in almost every other case, a perceived dislike of an artist/entertainer on my part profoundly, and negatively, colours my appreciation of their work/product. But not with Michael – strange…
I think this is great that the mainstream press recognized Lucas. He had a strong struggle and he’s made it on top…literally. Good job man. Stay good.
Three words: Sasha*Baron*Cohen
Alan I understand you fully I am in the same predicament! Even more difficult for a Porn Blogger like myself.
I absolutely DETEST Michael Lucas the MAN
while admitting I have watched and enjoyed most of his DVD Output.
Lucas Entertainment has consistently been one of the Best In Gay Porn.
So I guess its like Music we may acknowledge the Musical Genius of say Michael Jackson (in the 80′s) or Prince (one who’s Ego requires a full First class section) while finding them Detestable as Human Beings!
This is not new in the arts,
would any of us have wanted to buddy up to Van Gogh (my ears!) or
Mozart? All deeply flawed human beings.
Now Michael dont get a swelled head I am not comparing you to Mozart!
Van Gogh Maybe
The Cecil B DeMille of Gay Porn ABSOLUTELY!
You even spout the Pompous DeMille Speeches perfectly!
“Ve are ARTISTES”
mr dewayne- you are just a jealous little person… you cant get even a 1% of the limelight that mr Lucas is enjoying for over a decade and you never will. Michael came to this country with nothing and became a millionaire. have you heard about the american dream? You -american who achieved nothing but a little blog. Have some respect.
It looks like Michael Lucas is getting exactly what he (and any other celebrity) aims for-publicity.
Well done.
DeWayne, Prince and Michael Jackson are 2 good examples of what I was referring to when I said that my (negative) views of them personally flowed over into my (generally negative) opinions of their work as artists… As for Mozart, Van Gogh, and even DeMille – at least they’re dead and, therefore, I don’t have to inwardly flinch every time they open their mouths…
And tom, you might want to take a look at what DeWayne actually wrote – nowhere in his post did he write anything to denigrate ML’s accomplishments or suggest ML was somehow undeserving of the success he has enjoyed. He was simply joining me in pointing out that success on a professional level does not always equate with an appealing/likable personality (subjective as that quality is).
George W. Bush also lived out an ‘American Dream’ in that he grew up to be President. That doesn’t mean that I, DeWayne (or most people who read this blog) have to like him personally. Nor is my dislike and lack of respect of GWB founded in ‘jealousy’ even though I will certainly never be as famous (infamous?) or wealthy as he is… LOL
First I agree, it’s fantastic that mainstream press write about a gay porn star, Lucas seems to transcend all stereotypes. he is not afraid to stnad out. He is anything but black and white…he is anything but boring. He is an entertainer–keeps shocking and surprising us. Lucas was the only reason to go to the Gayvn awards this year. He is the mastermind in this industry and we have to respect that. Well done.
and you Allan surely know lucas well enough to write your post? what exactly did he do to make you dislike him so much that u will even share your hate for him with the world? bush did not come to america with 150$ in his pocket, he had his family behind him… thats not what we call the american dream, lol.
Well sam, it’s true that I’ve never met Mr Lucas (or GWB for that matter) but the point, which seems to elude you is that one may be successful without necessarily being likable (which I’ll say again since you may have missed it the first time -is purely a matter of subjective taste – you may have found the quote “I wore poor-person clothes like Abercrombie & Fitch, which was very sad, very beige.” amusing – I found it condescending and arrogant and, somewhat typical of what seems to come out of ML’s mouth when I see/read him being interviewed.
As for definitions of the ‘American Dream’ I’m not sure that working as an escort on the way to success as a porn mogul would necessarily fit many people’s interpretation of that phrase either…
i think lucas is likeable – hes so cutesy bootsey
i think you just luck any sense of humor… he was soooo kidding
as he usually does…..
