Old Reliable Fund Launched for Gay Erotic Pioneer

An Old Reliable blog and newly launched online store have been designed and will be operated for free by volunteers, with all funds raised going to Hurles. Both sites are named for the filmmaker’s famed Old Reliable Tape and Picture Company. Hurles, 64, suffered a massive stroke in October 2008 and has since recuperated in a nursing home in Orange County, Calif. Arrangements to move him to a new facility in Hollywood were recently made by Taschen Publishing editor Dian Hanson, who worked with Hurles during the production of last year’s “The Big Penis Book.” She notes the stroke left Hurles with his “wit, intelligence and memory intact. AVN Suing XBIZ, Sales Exec

Adult biz trade publication Adult Video News has served rival publication XBIZ and its newly hired sales exec Sara Sazzman with “an eight-count complaint, seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.” Ms. Sazzman joined XBIZ last month after serving in a similar capacity for AVN. The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday and claims breach of contract as well as “misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition.” Per XBIZ legal counsel, “Clearly AVN is trying to tarnish XBIZ’s reputation to stem the tide of its diminishing marketshare.” [XBIZ]

Micky’s Grand Re-Opening Postponed

[Edits 1:00 pm.] Stop the presses! The grand re-opening of Micky’s nightclub in West Hollywood has been delayed. It had been scheduled for this Thursday but “construction and permit delays” have resulted in a postponement until Thursday, May 7, according to the press release. However, the nightclub will be open next week and the venerable “Cocktails with the Stars” meet-and-greet with co-hosts Scotty B. and Angel Benton will carry on as scheduled on April 23 with a show featuring humpy pup Bobby Clark. Musclebod-turned-director Robert Van Damme will headline April 30.
