Heartthrob Marcos Pirelli Back in Action

Talent management agency Hot Rods Casting circulated word today that dashing, six-foot heartthrob Marcos Pirelli will be back in GayPornLand in early summer looking for work. He’s seen here in a recent snap, under a cloudy sky in what looks like Paris. Mr. Pirelli was last onscreen in AFTERNOON DELIGHT and BONERS for Raging Stallion Studios several years ago. Carlos Morales to Quit Skin Trade?

Just the other day I wrote about Collin O’Neal announcing his intention to quit XXX (scroll down or CLICK HERE) and now it’s wondrous sexpig Carlos Morales who has announced he is closing his business. He sent out an email blast yesterday announcing a fire sale on his official website. I tracked him down earlier today and set up an exit interview of sorts. He told me the sale announcement brought an unexpected rush of orders, which will keep him busy for the next few days. As with Mr. O’Neal, it’s not clear if he’s leaving the biz entirely or just ramping down his involvement. I remember driving Mr. Morales around Hollywood to check out the sights some years ago — I think when he was filming for MSR Videos — and talking with him about how to transition out of the sex trade into a “normal” life. Few performers of recent vintage have been as prolific, and have performed at a fairly consistent level of excellence. He debuted some 13 years ago (!) in A WORLD OF MEN for Kristen Bjorn. Collin O’Neal Quits the Porn Biz

[Edits 9:35 am.] My colleagues over at TheSword.com sent along this little nugget of information last night. Seems director-producer-performer Collin O’Neal is calling it quits — sorta. He’s apparently looking to sell his Collin O’Neal Productions and its globetrotting, multi-awarded WORLD OF MEN series. (The next installment — TURKEY — is due in a few weeks.) Mr. O’Neal announced his retirement as a performer in July ’08, and took distribution in-house last October. He told TheSword that he has enough material to keep his website humming for the time being. “I have been very disappointed in the industry,” he said. “Models use to make a lot of money, but since more and more people are throwing porn up for free it has forced producers to cut costs and after firing staff, producers then start severely digging into model fees.” I feel his pain, but everyone’s kind of in the same boat at this point.

Marriage Equality Rally in GayPornLand

Okay, so no paddywagons or riot police this time around. But last night’s massive marriage equality rally in West Hollywood was pretty fucking amazing — I’ve seen crowd estimates ranging from 5000 to 15,000. Despite such a throng I still managed to run smack into Bret Wolfe (literally) and Park Wiley, and I spotted Johnny Gunn from afar. My GPTimes posse also saw the Blink 182 guys being tracked by paparazzi plus Perez Hilton marching and yelling with Emmy Rossum and some other celebs I didn’t recognize. There was Drew Barrymore with her posse of gays on one side, Kathy Griffin on another pushing her 89-year-old mother in a wheelchair, whom the queers lost their shit over. And our section of the mob got a hilarious chant going that cracked everyone up — What do we want? EQUAL RIGHTS! When do we want ‘em? NOW, BITCH! — and really caught on for awhile. Onward and upward.

Jack Lawrence Joins AIDS/LifeCycle Ride

Performer Jack Lawrence will participate in the AIDS/LifeCycle ride May 31-June 6. Lawrence will bicycle 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles along with more than 3000 other cyclists to raise funds and awareness for programs to help end HIV and AIDS. Each of the riders will have raised at least $3000 for HIV/AIDS-related charities. “I grew up in the Castro district in San Francisco,” Lawrence told XBIZ. “I’m straight, but we’re all family. It’s a worthy cause.” He also will represent AIM Healthcare Foundation as their press and public relations liaison for this event. “He’ll be doing some interviews on the road,” AIM clinic administrator Brooke Hunter told XBIZ. “He’s doing what he can to support AIM and AIDS testing.” Lawrence is among the few straight male performers to actively cultivate a gay male fan base. Industry Responds to Prop. 8 Decision

They also ruled the state’s 18,000 existing same-sex marriages will remain legal. Gil Sperlein, general counsel for Titan Media, is among the California same-sex couples whose marriage was held in legal limbo. “We are obviously disappointed by the Court’s decision,” Sperlein told me for XBIZ. “In complete contrast to the Court’s statements in In re Marriage Cases the Court now claims that Proposition 8 only changes the right to use the word ‘marriage’ and therefore only represent a minor change to the rights of a small group of people. The Court failed to recognize that subjecting questions of equal protection to the will of the majority constitutes a fundamental change to the Constitution. We will work with others to educate California voters until Proposition 8 is overturned.” Diane Duke, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition, told XBIZ today’s decision is “a step backwards for all of us. Whether you are gay or straight, a loss to anyone’s civil rights hurts us all. Rest assured that the groups employing their misplaced morality to squelch the rights of same-sex couples will not stop until they have imposed their will on us all, stomping out our right to privacy and eliminating our personal freedoms. California Supreme Court Upholds Prop. 8

The Supreme Court of California has upheld Proposition 8, eliminating the right of same-sex couples to marry. They have also ruled that existing same-sex marriages will remain legal. The hotly anticipated opinion on three cases challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8 — Strauss vs. Horton, S168047; Tyler vs. State of California, S168066; and City and County of San Francisco vs. Horton, S168078 — was published minutes ago on the court’s official website, per multiple media sources. The justices initially overturned the state’s ban on same-sex marriage on May 15, 2008 and elected not to stay its decision until after the November 2008 elections. During the period in which same-sex marriage was legal, some 18,000 couples were issued California state marriage licenses. However, the passage of Proposition 8 on Election Day, November 4, 2008 altered the state’s constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Three cases challenging the ballot proposition’s constitutionality were filed and the justices heard arguments in March 2009. [XBIZ]
