As you may have heard by now, Craigslist has bowed to pressure from the fuzz to drop its free “erotic services” listings in favor of an “adult section” area of the site whose listings will be vetted by staffers. Did you use the “erotic services” listings — to buy or to sell, so to speak? Will you miss the unintentional hilarity of the section? Do you give a whit? Click away and let us know. Nope, never used them to actually buy/sell, but occasionally perused them when in need of a laugh – so I wish I could have picked both those responses… ;)

    Bowed to pressure? I’ll say!
Is it just me, or, with Craigslist caving, what about even more blatant “sex” ads in local alternative rags (like the Boston Phoenix, for example, which has a pull-out section), or, even more public, the Verizon Yellow Pages? Don’t get me wrong…I am not saying they should be targeted as well. But Craigslist’s giving in (for whatever reason) could open up a Padora’s Box for the “right.” Will we next hear, “the Yellow Pages killer” or “the (insert your local rag’s name here) killer?” It’s like the Boston subway system’s new “no cell phone” policy after a driver ran into another subway care while texting. Talk about locking the horse after the barn was stolen (or something like that…). And yes, the last option in the above poll (the one about the hilarious listings) is a given. Rant over.
