Titan Media Administers ‘Shock Treatment’

Production house Titan Media and performer-turned-director Tony Buff are prepping to administer SHOCK TREATMENT to the wholesale-retail market. While the blue movie XXX for its Mustang Studios label was in production, directors Steve Cruz and Leif Gobo shot this promo scene — available only to Falcon’s members — featuring kinky hunk Derek da Silva with handsome Scott Campbell. Michael Lucas Wins ‘Ugly Betty’ Cameo

Performer, director and Lucas Entertainment CEO Michael Lucas is set to appear in a walk-on role on the ABC television series “Ugly Betty.” He won the cameo during a charity auction. The auction was held during the 2009 Stonewall Community Foundation Dinner Wednesday night in New York City, which Lucas attended with his husband, Richard Winger. “The live auction started with a walk-on role in ‘Ugly Betty’ and I immediately knew: I have to get this,” Lucas writes in an entry posted to his official blog at LucasBlog.com. Of course I wanted to give money to Stonewall. But I also saw a chance to shake up television a bit [with] the first porn star cameo ever on a family program,” he said. Cal/OSHA Inspects AIM Healthcare Offices

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Cal/OSHA) inspected the Sherman Oaks, California offices of Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) yesterday. “The state is seeking information about 18 HIV-positive cases that the clinic has reported to Los Angeles County health officials since 2004. The cases were not investigated and the county has no information on how the transmissions occurred and whether they involved active adult industry performers,” XBIZ reports. AIM’s co-founder Sharon Mitchell has publicly stated they were not. Cal/OSHA spokesman Dean Fryer said the agency was merely seeking additional information. “That’s why we wanted to get into the clinic. We wanted to interview staff that work there. We wanted to look at records. We want to understand this.” An AIM rep had no comment other than to confirm the inspection. [XBIZ]

Maleflixxx Japan Tuned Up for Local Users

Sureflix Digital Distribution, parent company of all-male video-on-demand network Maleflixxx.tv, has gone live with upgrades to their Japanese sister site. The updates to the two-year-old Maleflixxx.jp were a collaboration with partner Argo Studio. Gay Porn History Unspools in NY, LA

It was a great night for gay porn history, on two coasts, yesterday evening. Last night author Jeffrey Escoffier presented his new book “Bigger Than Life: The History of Gay Porn Cinema from Beefcake to Hardcore” (Running Press) at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center. Scheduled to attend were directors Bob Alvarez, Jerry Douglas, Chi Chi LaRue and Wakefield Poole. And here in Hollywood, “An Evening with Pat Rocco: Early Rocco Erotica and Other Treasures” screened as part of Outfest Wednesdays in conjunction with the American Cinematheque at the historic Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Among those in attendance: helmers Gino Colbert and Lucas Kazan, as well as several of the beefcake models who appeared in Mr. Rocco’s “backyard dick danglers” (as he termed the films) four decades ago! Two great programs on opposite coasts; as an armchair historian, it’s gratifying to see this industry’s early days are not being forgotten.

Pacific Sun Signs South African All-Male Label

Production-distribution house Pacific Sun Entertainment has signed a distro pact with Liberate Studios, believed to be gay adult’s first and only studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. The deal kicks off with Liberate’s first production, ROGERED! The label was co-founded this year by commercial director Ross Winters and performer Kurt Rogers, best known for his work with U.K.-based pro/am sites MenAtPlay.com and UKNakedMen.com. “We are single-handedly creating the porn industry in South Africa,” Winters said. “The faces are fresh, the locations are different and for our upcoming films we will be showing more of that. We intend to offer different kinds of guys. Our first film had more of a muscle-hunk look, and our next film has younger guys, more twinky. In the long term we aim to cater to pretty much all tastes, from bears to twinks.” Winters stressed a Liberate Studios point of pride is the utilization of “proper filmmaking techniques, even down to the catering department. Our goals are to put South Africa on the porn map.” During a recent shoot, Liberate utilized the new, high-end Red One digital camera for B-roll. “I’m not sure if that’s been used by any other gay studio. And while it might not mean much to anyone other than a filmmaker, it’s just a nice detail for us,” he said. “I think we are on the right path but we are still new and there is so much to learn. That’s part of the fun and the freedom, I think.” ROGERED! is centered on “a weekend of total debauchery under the African sun” and toplines Rogers with Nic James and Jed Wilcox. L.A. Health Officials ‘Backtrack’ on Porn Poz Cases

The Los Angeles Times reports in a story posted last night that county health officials have “backtracked” on public statements last week that “at least 16 unpublicized cases of HIV in adult film performers had been reported to them since 2004.” Although the number of HIV-positive cases reported to them by Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) has now been upgraded to 18, the county is now saying their reports were “mislabeled” as to the occupation of the patients. Dr. Jonathan Fielding, L.A.’s top health official, says his agency does not know if they were active adult performers. AIM’s Sharon Mitchell told the Times they were not. “Each involved either a non-performer or an aspiring actor or actress who tested positive, then dropped out of the business,” she said. While Fielding asserts AIM provides a necessary service to the adult industry, he believes porn’s workplace safety efforts do not go far enough. “To have, in 2009, an occupational hazard that’s preventable and subjects individuals to life-threatening diseases is outrageous,” he said.
