Francois Sagat is an ‘L.A. Zombie’

Folks, this is turning into something of a busy morning, but I wanted to toss up a quick item about my visit last night to the set of L.A. Zombie, the new film from Bruce LaBruce (the infamous Hustler White; Raspberry Reich; last year’s Otto; or, Up with Dead People). Our very own François Sagat has the lead with Eddie Diaz, Wolf Hudson, Erik Rhodes, Matthew Rush and some other adult actors in featured roles. Dark Alley Media has exclusive distribution rights for the DVD and details are being worked out for a possible theatrical run; Owen Hawk is one of the producers. Another production company is Germany’s Wurstfilm. Yes, it’s an adult film but Mr. LaBruce told me he’ll cut together a less explicit edit for the arthouse circuit. From what I gathered last night, L.A. Zombie is less an erotic horror film and more of an impressionistic piece. CLICK HERE for the film’s official production diary. I’ll have more scoop later; last night, I chatted up the crew and Messrs. Hudson and Sagat, and watched Mr. Diaz have a prosthetic bullet hole applied to his forehead and then repeatedly get tossed from a truck (without complaint, I might add). It’s quite a job, I gots.

How fucking genius? We’ve talked about doing that forever. Glad someone had the chutzpa to just do it. Bruce LaBruce doing a porn film. To paraphrase myself, “mis ojos son enfuegos!”

Bruce directed one porn film before this, called Skin Gang for Cazzo Film.

Bruce LaBruce has more than ONE porn film. The owner of Cazzo Film is a friend of LaBruce’s and he and Cazzo (in one form or another) have backed, in whole or in part, almost all of LaBruce’s most recent films. I am trying to determine if that owner of Cazzo is also the associated with Wurstfilm. Wurstfilm, Spritzz, Cazzo and Forester are all based in Berlin and they use a lot of the same models. The real genius of Bruce LaBruce and Cazzo is the bifurcated film that has a theatrical release and a hardcore gay porn release. Skin Gang / Skin Flick, Raspberry Reich / The Revolution is My Boyfriend. Cazzo also had theatrical and hardcore versions of Locked Up but that film wasn’t directed by Bruce LaBruce. I really really wish that Raging Stallion would wise up and do a bifucated film with Logan McCree or edit a theatrical version of the The Visitor.

Well Rasberry Reich does have a couple of brief hardcore sex scenes, but I wouldn’t call it a porn film per se. And yes, I have seen Skin Gang, a delightful romp featuring neo-Nazi skinheads. . .
