Forbes.com Looks at Adult Tube Sites
August 14, 2009 | Leave a Comment
I meant to run this story earlier in the week but it slipped through the cracks. Anyway, Forbes.com threw together a short overview of the rise of Tube sites in adult entertainment. “In an article that addresses user-generated porn, writer Oliver J. Chiang points out that YouTube-like sites offering adult material — which may be unauthorized — can offer value as an advertisement for other paid sites and a carrier for advertising,” XBIZ wrote. ” ‘I don’t see where the money is in uploading pirated videos to a free site,’” Sarah LoPrinzi, market research director for XBIZ Research, was quoted as saying. ” ‘Are you going to brand it with a logo? It’s not going to last. Chances are, someone is going to say ‘cut it out’ at some point.’” Other adult industry personalities quoted in the article include Vivid Entertainment co-founder Steven Hirsch, Digital Playground co-founder Joone and Suzann Knudsen, marketing director for video-on-demand distributor AEBN, which owns PornoTube.
