Bratislava Dispatch: Halloween
October 31, 2009 | 7 Comments
Bratislava Dispatch: We returned yesterday evening from a quick day trip to Budapest (see the link below). Today is Halloween, of course, but it’s apparently not a big deal here in Slovakia. I saw a couple of bars in the area advertising themed parties but the windows and walls are not draped with the usual paraphernalia. One of my guides told me Slovakians spend the day honoring the dead. I’ll try to get some more details today. Last night, when we returned to Bel Ami‘s offices, I had an opportunity to briefly interview Lukas Ridgeston, who was working late editing material for his own label (this photo was taken last year; he’s let a bit of attractive grey grow into his temples since then). I’ve spoken with him half a dozen times now and he is always polite, but reserved. I can understand why; he’s spent most of the past 16 years with people grabbing at him and trying to get close to him. He is recognized virtually everywhere he goes, anywhere in the world. We spent our interview talking about his work for Bel Am as a director, cameraman and editor. He had some good stories about dealing with performers because he knows all of their tricks; yeah, when Lukas Ridgeston is your director, you can’t really pull the wool over his eyes. He is meticulous about providing good direction to his models. Also, many of these guys are a bit easier to direct, in one respect, because they are mostly straight and did not come of age lusting for Mr. Ridgeston, so they have no baggage in that regard. We talked a little bit about his lasting legacy and it was in these moments that his legendary humility was apparent. “It feels good to know that maybe I affected someone’s sexuality and changed their life a little bit,” he told me.

Tech Site Notes Adult Male Paysite ‘Trend’
October 30, 2009 | 2 Comments
A short, painfully cute little article on ECommerceJournal‘s website takes note of a “hot new trend” in adult entertainment: “paysites featuring solo male performers.” The unbylined story notes that solo-female sites have proliferated because most porn is consumed by straight men, leaving other audience segments out in the cold; but “luckily for male adult stars and their admirers, times are changing.” Boy, howdy, that’s true. The story notes that “in the gay market, most major stars don’t have their own paysites” and cites various COLT Studio performer sites, as well as the web homes for Zeb Atlas, Alex Dark and Jason Hawke as examples of this apparently burgeoning trend. Eh, what? Look, I’m glad for any attention gay adult receives in mainstream media circles, but this kind of story is what we typically get: a woefully under-researched fluff piece based on a few links from the first page of a Google search. Fleshlight Markets Fanged Vampire Novelties
October 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Male sex toy manufacturer Fleshlight has released vampire-themed masturbators as part of its Sex in a Can product line, called Succu Dry and Count Cockula. Both designs feature a fanged mouth orifice and a custom-designed interior texture. The skin-like material is made slightly paler than usual, the company said, and its exterior features artwork from renowned illustrator Hydro74. Company CEO Steve Shubin said Fleshlight designed the new prototypes to take advantage of surging interest in vampire fantasy, following recent box office and literary popularity. “The vampire fantasy has become very real for millions of people,” Shubin said. “We at Fleshlight have been providing men an outlet for their fantasies since our founding, so it is only fitting that we continue to do so with this fantasy, which until now, has been completely unattainable.” Popular burlesque and fetish model Masuimi Max also has signed on as official promotional model for the Succu Dry product. Three special editions will retail for $44.95, the company said. Visit SuccuDry.com and Fleshjack.com for additional details. [XBIZ]

The Tiger Tyson Lip Balm is raspberry-flavored. “For best results, apply two hours before watching one of Pitbull’s super sexy DVDs. The lip balm is sure to give those who use it lips as soft and smooth as Tiger’s,” a studio rep said. This is not the marquee star’s first foray into outside-the-box brand marketing. Last year he also produced a Tiger Tyson Car Air Freshener (click the link below).

Greetings from Budapest
October 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment

I mentioned earlier that I was flown to Bratislava, Slovakia this past weekend by Bel Ami‘s George Duroy for a three-week writing assignment. You may know that the company now films a great deal of content from an office in Budapest, Hungary (about two hours from Bratislava, straight down the freeway). Mr. Duroy had business in Budapest today and tomorrow, and last night decided I should accompany him. So here I sit, in a small bed-and-breakfast right in the heart of Budapest, blogging before I met the Bel Ami crew for dinner. This particular building, from the outside, is crumbling and spooky, like Dracula’s slacker kid brother’s castle, but the interior is fresh, clean and well-lit. My guide told me a lot of Budapest buildings bear this effect. When we arrived this morning, rising star Kris Evans [pictured, left, with Dolph Lambert] was just finishing up a scene with the painfully beautiful Jean Daniel Chagall [right], who is tall and lean, with smooth, soft skin and a bubble butt so high and tight you want weep. In between takes Mr. Evans, well over six feet of grade-A beef, strolled over and inadvertently stuck out a hand that was slick with lube. Oops. His still-swollen cock swung back and forth like a crane. After they had wrapped and showered, Mr. Chagall exclaimed that his chest had been white with cum and that Evans must be a firefighter in real life because his cock was like a hose that wouldn’t stop spurting. The story was even funnier because he speaks only Czech, while Mr. Evans speaks only Hungarian, so the translator had to relay the story from one language to another, and then to Mr. Duroy (who speaks Czech and Slovak, among other languages, but not Hungarian), who translated, a third time, into English for me. It was one of those surreal, only-in-porn moments. And how was your evening?

Alyson Touts Aiden Shaw’s ‘Sordid Truths’
October 29, 2009 | 1 Comment
Press Release Roundup: As we first wrote early last month (see the link below), performer and author Aiden Shaw has a new memoir on the boards via Alyson Books titled “Sordid Truths: Selling My Innocence for a Taste of Stardom.” I like the pulp-novel riff of the cover design. He is making the promo rounds now. Towards that end, the publisher has set up a promotional microsite — CLICK HERE — with book details, purchasing info and a video clip of Mr. Shaw interviewing people on the street. (He’s quick on his feet and self-deprecating, but the clip is a tad awkward.) “After finishing just one year of his degree, he was 21 and easily lured away from study by the heady mix of sex and money in London,” reads the press blurb. “Within a short time on the scene he was something of a celebrity within his field, having been introduced to wealthy, weird, and wonderful eccentrics and famous — and famously closeted — Euro-trash personalities and the celebrated elite. However, working as a prostitute turned minor league once gay adult film legend Chi Chi LaRue took Polaroids of the naked and aroused Shaw, and launched his career.”

Levi Johnston Won’t Go Full Monty
October 29, 2009 | 8 Comments

[Edits 11/17/09.] Pictured here (at top) is a Tweet from Levi Johnston a few days ago that reverberated around the gay/gossip blogosphere for a cycle and a half (CLICK HERE). The grapevine just cannot get enough of this guy right now. He was entirely the focus of discussion last month during my segment on “The Derek & Romaine Show,” a topic that generated more email and phone calls than almost any other segment I’ve done (until perhaps this month when the topic was watersports). Anyway, just today Mr. Johnston Twittered (in ALL CAPS, Kanye West-style) that he “will not be nude” for his Playgirl.com shoot, “so kiss your fantasies goodbye.” Bro-ther… He also notes he hasn’t yet signed on the dotted line. Update: Mr. Johnston’s reps confirmed to GPTimes that the Twitter account mentioned in this article is a fake.

Austin Wilde Snags ‘Cocktails’ Campaign
October 28, 2009 | 3 Comments
Press Release Roundup: Performer Austin Wilde has won a fan-driven contest to be named the new face of the Cocktails with the Stars marketing campaign. Mr. Wilde was recently crowned Raging Stallion Studios’ Man of the Year (shared with David Taylor) and replaces Jet Set exclusive Marcus Steele. Wilde’s face and body will adorn flyers, internet adverts and other promo materials for the weekly Thursday night meet-and-greets at Micky’s nightclub, a staple of the West Hollywood social scene. Promoter/host Scotty B. notes the win “shows the power of studios backing their models, networking through Twitter — and being hot doesn’t hurt, either.” Nominations and votes were collected at NickYoungXXX.com. “Having only been in the industry a little over a year and living in the Midwest, this is definitely an honor,” Wilde said.

October 28, 2009 | 2 Comments
New Release Desk: All-male studio Athletic Model Guild (AMG) has dipped into gay adult’s roots with the new release RICHARD FONTAINE: DAYS OF GREEK GODS under its AMG Classics label. Director Fontaine was an erotica pioneer whose beefcake physique photographs were among the earliest produced, beginning in 1949. A friend of AMG founder Bob Mizer, Fontaine collaborated with the studio for several decades and left his film negatives in its archive when he moved on to mainstream filmmaking in the ’70s (he died in 1992). Their first physique film was 1954′s DAYS OF GREEK GODS featuring popular bodybuilders Johnny Apollo, Bob Delmonteque and Artie Zeller. CLICK HERE for more details…

Hungarian Priest, Porn Star Sex Scandal
October 28, 2009 | Leave a Comment
There is a minor media scandal erupting here in Central Europe involving a Hungarian priest who slept with a male escort and gay porn actor and then refused to pay up. The escort/ performer’s name is Richárd Kósa [pictured, at right]. To extract revenge against “L. Atya” (or “Father L.”), he enticed the good father into a revealing conversation that he secretly recorded on his cell phone, and then promptly sold his story to the tabs. Blikk magazine “contacted the church, but they did not wish to comment on the case.” The priest paid about 300 Euros per session with Mr. Kósa, “which must have caused a real blow to morale among Father L.’s fellow priests,” the tab notes, “who probably don’t make more than [300 Euros] in a month.” Although Mr. Kósa is identified as a porn performer, it’s not clear for whom he has filmed. No one here at Bel Ami‘s offices in Bratislava recognized him.

Francois Sagat Cuts Up ‘Saw VI’
October 28, 2009 | 1 Comment
Slasher flick Saw VI opened last weekend in advance of Halloween and I completely forgot François Sagat has a prominent cameo. I first wrote about it back in April. He shot the role that month on location in Montreal. “I was so terrified I was going to be bad and make mistakes,” he said. “But after the first five minutes, everything was OK. I didn’t fuck up.” As I wrote then, Mr. Sagat was “given his choice of two small roles: a police officer or a drug addict. He chose the latter as it sounded more interesting. In the scene set in a hospital emergency room, he and an actress playing his girlfriend demand a methadone fix. ‘We become verbally abusive to a nurse,’ Sagat recalled. ‘There was lots and lots of crew around and the set was huge. No one knew who I was; I loved it. I really hope I get to do another movie.’” And of course, he got his wish: just a few months later he was cast as the lead in the erotic-horror-drama L.A. Zombie from writer/director Bruce LaBruce. Anyone seen Saw IV? Feel free to chime in below.

Beauty Shot: NextDoorMale’s Parker London
October 27, 2009 | 5 Comments
Beauty Shot: Pictured is newcomer Parker London via NextDoorMale.com. He contributes a JO for his erotic debut on the site, with more to come (he just inked an exclusive contract). “Parker is a tall Southern boy with the boyish charm of a merry prankster and the good looks of a rock star,” blogs shutterbug Mick Hicks. “His wit and self-revealing personality add up to create a sexual persona that should make him a very popular sex star.” I rather like the tousled, just-out-of-bed look myself. He stands at a yummy 6’1 and change.

Catching Up with Blue Blake
October 27, 2009 | 1 Comment
By the way, if you’re a Twitter follower CLICK HERE for the authentic Blue Blake, who confirmed for me the other day that he had set up an account. (There has been a real problem with fake porn actor accounts.) However, don’t expect a lot of posting to Twitter for now. “I am a horrible slave to Facebook,” he told me. He’s also getting into Skype. Mr. Blake is currently in Mexico (the recent hurricane “barely passed us by”) but now lives full-time in London, as our Constant Readers know, where he is still flacking his autobiography, “Out of the Blue” (Running Press). “My book has been a big hit in the U.K. I guess they like the sauciness of it and I have been asked to write the second,” he said. “London is amazing. I actually fell back into it which has surprised me a lot. I love the street I live on. It’s full of wild characters who are totally eccentric and I love my apartment, but I miss all my friends in L.A.” Earlier this year, Mr. Blake had been talking about shooting again, but I forgot to ask for an update on that front.
