'Days of Greek Gods'-DVD-AMGNew Release Desk: All-male studio Athletic Model Guild (AMG) has dipped into gay adult’s roots with the new release RICHARD FONTAINE: DAYS OF GREEK GODS under its AMG Classics label. Director Fontaine was an erotica pioneer whose beefcake physique photographs were among the earliest produced, beginning in 1949. A friend of AMG founder Bob Mizer, Fontaine collaborated with the studio for several decades and left his film negatives in its archive when he moved on to mainstream filmmaking in the ’70s (he died in 1992). Their first physique film was 1954’s DAYS OF GREEK GODS featuring popular bodybuilders Johnny Apollo, Bob Delmonteque and Artie Zeller. CLICK HERE for more details…

The new release compiles 12 shorts that have never been collected on DVD and spotlight Fontaine’s “ingenuity and wit,” said AMG President Dennis Bell.

“A few years ago, while opening hundreds of boxes of films shot by Bob Mizer, we uncovered a real treasure. Imagine our delight to find that Fontaine’s film negatives were still intact and well-preserved among the rest of AMG’s films.”

Bell says the loops and photographs are also notable to fans and historians for its peek at the famous AMG compound “in a very early incarnation.” Fontaine was also the filmmaker who prompted Mizer to begin 8mm production, and his DAYS OF GREEK GODS was among the first of its genre to utilize synced sound and dialogue.

Fontaine used aliases such as Apollo, Nomad Studios and Zenith throughout his career. “His films continued to expand the popularity of gay subject matter in the underground marketplace,” Bell said. “Along with Bob Mizer and a handful of other gay photographers, Dick Fontaine’s physique films flickered from the home projectors of gay customers and expanded into art houses and small movie palaces across the country.”

The 1988 documentary “The Days of Greek Gods (Physique Films of Richard Fontaine)” chronicles the filmmaker’s influence and legacy.

Have you seen Tiger Tyson Blog and Diesel Washington Blog latest posts of today ?

In Diesels latest post he says he wants to appear with Tiger Tyson in a scene and Tiger Tyson has immediately responded today in his latest post making Diesel a firm offer to appear with him in a dvd, the new Take ‘Em Down 5.

It would be such a great dvd event and seriously break all sales records if that can happen.

I wonder if there is really enough of an audience anymore for these beefcake films given there is no fucking (assuming). I guess they wouldn’t keep releasing them otherwise.
