pitbull-logocorbinfisher-logo-smallPress Release Roundup: We have two quick legal cases in GayPornLand to report this week. First up, Pitbull Productions has sued online magazine ThugStatus.com for “illegal postings of [our] DVDs and intellectual property,” a studio rep said. “ThugStatus provides their users with a fully integrated infrastructure that connects them to infringing digital files. The website even encourages users to infringe through a point system that gives users more access according to the number of movies they upload.” Such activities constitute “grave and irreparable harm” to their copyrights and trademarks, the rep said. Last year, Pitbull won a seven-figure default judgment against file-sharing website WhatsTea.com, and recently sued VOD network GameLink LLC (see the links below). UPDATE: At post time, the ThugStatus domain name was redirecting to a Twitter account announcing a forthcoming relaunch. In related news, CorbinFisher has “filed a federal lawsuit against several individuals involved in an alleged counterfeit DVD distribution enterprise that used eBay,” XBIZ reports. “CorbinFisher said in the suit that defendants illegally manufactured hundreds, if not thousands, of counterfeit DVDs of no less than 136 CorbinFisher videos altogether.” The web studio is seeking $10 million from each defendant; their complaint also lists several John Does who may have purchased the counterfeits. “We are going after each and every person who bought a DVD from one of these guys,” said COO Brian Dunlap. “We are certain that as the case goes on, we will identify each and every one of them.” [XBIZ]
