Bunny-Ranch-art-WSJThe Los Angeles Times as well as the Wall Street JournalLaw Blog” note today that Nye County, Nevada brothel owner Bobbi Davis has received approval to offer the services of male escorts to her clientele. It is a quirk of the legalized brothel industry in Nevada — per the Times, “in its own peculiar way, somewhat conservative” — that Ms. Davis’ request had been angrily challenged for several months. She and her husband “merely hope to boost business,” notes the Times. “Their small outpost near Death Valley, about 150 miles northwest of Las Vegas, offers as many as five women, relies heavily on travelers and has gotten some requests for gigolos.” Even if the experiment fails, Ms. Davis says “adding men to her roster is worth trying. She has been inundated with more than 100 applications.” A lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Assn. has been the most vocal opponent of adding men to Ms. Davis’ Shady Lady bordello. George Flint has said the legalization of male prostitutes “could be the industry’s Pearl Harbor,” per the Times. CLICK HERE for more details…

Flint continued to voice his objections Tuesday before the Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board. ” ‘This is the first time in the history of the world…that men have been licensed to sell sex,’ ” he said. ” ‘It’s never been done!’”

However, no locals voiced an objection and a promised demonstration against the proposal never materialized.

Shady-Lady-Ranch-logoSheriff Tony DeMeo joined Mr. Flint and Dennis Hof, famed owner of the Moonlite BunnyRanch, to raise concerns “about monitoring the spread of infectious diseases, though state legislators had already cleared the way for male sex workers,” the Times reports.

“You guys can’t scare me. I’m going to try this,” said Commissioner Lorinda Wichman.

Ms. Davis addressed the controversy to commissioners. “It seems the biggest hoopla is a great fear in some people’s minds that some kind of homosexual activity might go on. Why panic I don’t understand… it’s not my intent to encourage or promote or to turn my business into a ‘gay property.’ ”

The Times and WSJ do not indicate if the men Davis hires to staff the Shady Lady will accept both male and female clients. The bordello’s official website notes male applicants must be between 21 and 40 years of age and “service-oriented” with “a good work ethic, a willingness to please and a positive attitude.”

If they allow the male prostitutes to have men as clients they will make money hand over fist, easily.

It sounds as though Shady Lady intends the “Male Escorts” to service women, but they’d be much more successful if she had men for either women or men. I recall hearing some years ago about a brothel in LA that had both men and women available for men’s sexual pleasure.
