‘Nightline’ Tackles Digital Piracy in Porn
February 12, 2010 | 2 Comments
Last night’s episode of the newsmagazine Nightline on ABC was set to tackle the issue of digital piracy in adult entertainment. Did any of our Constant Readers tune in? The segment is titled “Why Would You Ever Pay for Porn?” and was shot on location in Las Vegas during last month’s AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. Adult Video News Publisher Paul Fishbein and Vivid Entertainment mogul Steve Hirsch were set to be interviewed. It’s not clear if any gay adult producers or execs were consulted; I’m going to guess they were not. “The adult business was the first to figure out how to make money on the internet, before anybody else,” notes Mr. Fishbein. “What they didn’t foresee was the availability of all this free content. You can only do so much policing and… trying to prevent your material from being pirated and shared. The very technology that helped bring the business into the 21st Century is also killing it. It’s hard to sell to certain customers when they can get stuff for free.” CLICK HERE for the Nightline website, where the segment is streaming, but I’m having trouble watching it with my dodgy Slovakian wifi.

Scott Coffman from AEBN was interviewed also. It was a superficial piece, mostly leering at the boobies bouncing around the Vegas expo.
I just watched, it wasn’t that interesting. All tits and boobs. Basic attitude was porn is in trouble. Duh. I guess that’s news to some straight people.
