Homophobic Ugandan Pastor Screens Gay Porn

The gay media blogosphere is reporting today that rabidly homophobic Pastor Martin Ssempa of Uganda has apparently displayed gay pornography in a church as an example of homosexual iniquity, and as a show of support for a proposed bill that would impose the death penalty on gay people. An Agence France-Press (AFP) story notes Mr. Ssempa “held the screening in an evangelical church in Kampala after authorities canceled a planned ‘million-man march’ in support of the antigay bill.” He has screened what is believed to have been all-male pornographic images at least once before (see the link below), a move the blog Box Turtle Bulletin calls “his old reliable standby.” Per the AFP, Ssempa said “‘(t)he major argument homosexuals have is that what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is nobody’s business, but do you know what they do in their bedrooms?’ the pastor asked. Ssempa then displayed a slide show of gay pornographic pictures… ‘This one is eating another man’s anus,’ [he] said, before going into graphic scatological descriptions.” MP David Bahati, author of the antigay bill, was in attendance. Ssempa is advocating for the bill’s passage “before April 4, as an ‘Easter present’ to the nation.” The provenance of the images displayed is not clear at this time. President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as Amnesty International, have condemned the bill. “While the conservative wing of the Ugandan government continues to push for the bill, some politicians have warned that its adoption could cost the country dearly in foreign financial assistance and image,” AFG reports.

The five featured episodes originally premiered online at Hot House Backroom, their official membership website. “Despite the sagging DVD market, sales of the BACKROOM series have been brisker than anticipated,” said a studio rep in the press release, attributing the increased interest to a more retail-friendly SRP of $49.95. “These DVDs still pack hot scenes with the biggest names in the business, shot by the same award-winning crew as our big-budget Hot House Video line,” notes studio VP and Creative Director Brent Smith. “But we’ve targeted the price point lower [to appeal] to consumers in this economic climate.” Featured players include cover stud Rafael Alencar and exclusives Vince Ferelli and Paul Wagner with Tim Kruger, Nash Lawler, Jackson Lawless, Alessio Romero, Fabio Stallone, Tony Vega and Tyler Saint, a recent XBIZ Awards winner as gay performer of the year. Gmunder, Mustang Eye ‘Cruising Grounds’

Press Release Roundup: Berlin-based production and distribution giant Bruno Gmunder is set to release Cruising Grounds, a new photobook with content culled from the Mustang Studios subsidiary label of Falcon Studios. “Mustang stands for hard and hunky men; for muscles and loads of testosterone,” reads the press announcement. “It’s the perfect alternative for everybody who isn’t into shaved, spic-and-span guys. FSC Unveils Anti-Piracy Program

Press Release Roundup: Adult-biz advocacy org the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has unveiled its latest innovation. The Anti-Piracy Action Program (APAP) is software developed to allow adult companies the ability to track their branded content on the internet. The program was developed in participation with attorney Gil Sperlein (also general counsel for Titan Media) and production houses Wicked Pictures and Channel 1 Releasing, among others, as well as copyright infringement software company Vobile. “FSC has been working with producers, distributors, software companies and copyright attorneys to develop a program that will not only work for all companies regardless of size, but also have a significant impact industry-wide on the issue of copyright infringement,” said FSC Executive Director Diane Duke. The program is open only to FSC members. “Fees are based on the amount of content tracked,” an FSC rep said. “Even small content production companies can participate, starting at a few hundred dollars a month.” Ms. Duke and Vobile rep Mike Wittke unveiled APAP February 9 at the XBIZ LA conference. Raging Stallion Names Steve Cruz Chief Videographer

Press Release Roundup: Raging Stallion Studios has named performer-director Steve Cruz to the position of Principal Videographer, a title formerly held by such luminaries as Tony Dimarco, Leif Gobo, David Hempling, Ben Leon and Lester Moore. His first production is the forthcoming ARABIAN KNIGHTS, which was filmed last autumn. “I am very excited to be working with Steve. He has talent — he really understands sex and how to film it,” said RSS principal Chris Ward in the press announcement. “I have watched him grow over the years and I can say that he is as good as it gets.” Mr. Ward notes he and Cruz are aesthetically simpatico. “We seem to have the same understanding and feeling for what makes hot porn — from general ideas about casting down to the minor details, like how long to hold a shot or what angles to get,” he said. European Dispatch: Too Many Boys

European Dispatch: Greetings from wintry Prague. I traveled with George Duroy and his driver — a mouthwatering hunk, natch — to this lovely city Tuesday night for a couple of days of work and interviews before flying home to Los Angeles on Friday. We had breakfast in the hotel and then walked over to the Bel Ami office. I would know it was Bel Ami if I hadn’t been here three or four times already; a group of men were standing outside in the cold and wind, furtively puffing away on cigarettes, and all of them were distractingly handsome. A few are former models, but most are civilians. And they’re all h-o-t. Jesus, take the wheel. I had reunion of sorts with Alan, BAOL’s newly hired director of online marketing, and a recent transplant from San Francisco. I’ve only had the chance to schmooze with Alan via email and, briefly, at industry functions over the years. It’s nice to have another American with whom to confab. It is one of those quirky little twists one’s life can take that we’ve reconnected halfway across the world in Prague. As I was writing this entry, I was interrupted by a hug from either Milo or Elijah Peters; I’m told there are slight physical differences, but I haven’t found ‘em yet and I’ve spent a lot of time looking at their perfect bodies. This is not a terrible gig for a humble freelance writer/porn blogger. Pictured is Claude Cocteau, whom I am to interview at some point. He now works for BAOL as a web designer. Initially released online in ’08, ALLEY CATS is “a tribute to film noir and set in 1953, a different time when being gay and being a homosexual on the prowl was a crime,” notes the press announcement. Reese Rideout — a recent Cybersocket Web Awards winner as best porn star — plays the lead role, “Johnny Malibu, who is on the prowl for alley cats behind the nightclub Dragonfly,” a rep said. “But Johnny’s luck runs out when he’s fingered as the Alley Cat Killer.” Costars include Derrek Diamond, Sean Everett, James Hawk, Tyler Johnson and Chris Rockway. My colleague Onan the Vulgarian — best name for a porn reviewer evah — has announced the 16th annual Hard Choice Awards (HCA) over at XXfactor.com (in conjunction with fellow reviewer Harley Shadow). “The HCAs are equal-opportunity. Domestic or foreign, major studio or little guy, if a film deserves merit, it will get noticed,” Mr. Vulgarian says. “When I watch a film, I listen to the dialog and music. I pay attention to the sets, lighting, continuity and camerawork. I try to figure out what the director is trying to achieve and how well (s)he achieved it.” The HCAs are traditionally a mix of traditional categories with more idiosyncratic citations, such as Best Dirty Talk and Most Fuckable Boy in the World (that would be Conner Habib this year).
