Miklos, Long, Hunter Win 2010 Hookies
March 23, 2010 | Leave a Comment
The 4th annual International Escort Awards (a/k/a “The Hookies“) were awarded this past Friday, March 19, in New York. Unless you were actually in attendance the winners remained a mystery for a few days. Now they’ve finally been posted online (CLICK HERE). The marquee category is Mr. International Escort, which went to bald, furry hunk Gio, pictured here. He also snagged the Best Boyfriend Fantasy category and previously won the regional Mr. New York title, which put him in contention for the top prize. Two of our boys: Drew Cutler (Mr. Los Angeles) and Tommy Defendi (Mr. Chicago) were also vying for those honors. A few additional pornsters took home trophies; as well, there were several ties. Dept. of Self-Promotion: Bel Ami News
March 23, 2010 | 1 Comment
Dept. of Self-Promotion: A quick promo dispatch this morning. We’re cycling to the end of the month already — geez, Louise— so hie thee over to iBelAmiNews to check out the March edition of the official Bel Ami newsletter. As I’ve mentioned a few times, I have been compiling and writing much of the content, which includes little behind-the-scenes snippets, reviews, interviews and so on. There is a rather charming (well, I suppose that depends on your perspective) anecdote about the filming of a famed orgy scene in OUT AT LAST 3: COCKTAILS featuring Josh Eliot getting reamed by Sebastian Bonnet, Oliver Krist, Mario Sardi and Dano Sulik. Innocent pupcake Josh was new to the porn scene, new to sex — new to everything. He was studying up for exams and went to his room, where the orgy was being filmed, to retrieve a book he needed. And the director, Marty Stevens, apparently invited Josh to join the action; he can no longer recall whether it was meant as a joke, but Josh agreed. He didn’t want to upset anybody because he had just met the cast and crew. This was his first orgy ever — he’s the floppy haired blond camera-right in this photo — and one of the very first times he’d ever had sex at all. Ouch. Double-ouch. It adds a little extra dimension to that episode, eh? But on the other hand, how’d you like to have that trio introduce you to the joys of mansex? Also, the March newsletter includes a quickie item from George Duroy about packing for a shoot in Cape Town, South Africa. I heard from Mr. Duroy a few days ago and everyone is now back in Central Europe where post-production has begun on their gigantic shoot. The photo sets and video will begin appearing over the summer.

Pitt, Hunter Talk Sex Work to ‘Out’ Mag
March 22, 2010 | 1 Comment

In addition to interviews with Rentboy.com and “Hookies” honchos Jeff Davids and Sean Van Sant (see the previous story), the same Out.com story also includes brief Q&As on hooking and sex work with Hookies nominees — and well-known porn actors — Jason Pitt and Chase Hunter. “I was born to fuck,” says Mr. Hunter. “Mother Nature put me together for that reason. Some people can sing. I can fuck.” Goddess knows I don’t disagree with that assessment. He holds no truck with those who would pass judgment on sex workers (“It’s the oldest profession in the world!”) and describes escorting as “one of the best jobs in the world. My job is basically one thing: To make people happy. Whatever it is, I want to make them smile and be happy when we’re done, and that’s a pretty good job to have.” Mr. Pitt reveals a few details about a car accident he suffered in 2007 and the surgeries he required as a result of his injuries. “Our car swerved off the road and we hit a tree. My seatbelt broke, and I went through the windshield. I still have one more surgery to get done. Right now, I’m missing my right eyebrow. You may not know photographers work so well with me. My right eye doesn’t close all the way. It’s all worked out for the best. It’s made me a way better person than I ever thought I would be.” The 19-year-old says he has wanted to get into porn since the age of 14. “I’ve always been comfortable being naked… People like seeing it and I like showing it. Why not turn that into money? I’m all about the business perspective of things — making money off of whatever I have.” He also talks pottery, Chelsea Handler and how he maintains his famous blond locks. ‘Out’ Mag Profiles Rentboy, Hookies Honchos
March 22, 2010 | 3 Comments
Last October, the Advocate.com website set off a round of pearl-clutching when they interviewed a series of sex workers at Hustlaball New York, one of whom was pornster Cory Koons (see the link below). Five months later, sister website Out.com has an interview with Rentboy.com Founder Jeff Davids and site director Sean Van Sant, whose International Escort Awards (a/k/a The Hookies) were handed out Friday night in New York. (At post time, the winners had not yet been listed online.) “We thought it was a really nice way to give back to a marginalized group,” says Mr. Davids of the awards’ inception. “It’s just gotten bigger every year and people are more excited about getting the trophy. We… want to move toward not just making it a show where we hand out trophies to each winner. We make it a little more theatrical,” notes Mr. Sant. He also says the depressed economy has driven more white-collar men into the field, an angle the mainstream media has picked up. (It’s a titillating story that makes for lurid magazine covers but I’m not sure how much truth is behind it.) They also talk about the courage of the men in this line of work. “Everyone loves to put down a sex worker,” said Mr. Van Sant. “It’s partly because we as gay men love our porn stars and we love our hot men. I guess it feels good to put down the guy you can’t have. Everyone wants to gossip, so it takes a lot of courage to put your sexuality out there for everyone to evaluate.” CLICK HERE for the full story.

Hot Links: Awards and Magazines Edition
March 20, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Hot Links: The week in GayPornLand started off with quite a bang. The 2010 Grabby nominations were announced, then the GAYVN Awards organizers announced they were postponing the show until September. And then there was the whole mess over Unzipped magazine… So I had plenty to jaw about on “The Derek & Romaine Show” during my recurring gig as a porn-biz commentator this past Wednesday. The week ended with the presentation of the 4th annual International Escort Awards (a/k/a “The Hookies“). However, it’s now Saturday morning as I tap out this post and the winners haven’t been posted online yet and I don’t feel like scolling through 127 Twitter accounts to find ‘em. Sigh… Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. So check out these links to our top-rated stories on GPTimes right this very second. And in honor of the fact that our post about STEVEN DAIGLE: XXXPOSED is still drawing eyeballs, I present you a Twitpic Mr. Daigle snapped yesterday in an airplane bathroom (eh, he was bored and horny):

Beauty Shots: Killian, Blaze for Justin Monroe
March 20, 2010 | 5 Comments

Beauty Shot: I was bantering last night on Twitter with hunky Adam Killian — the recent recipient of something like 47 Grabby noms — and he posted a couple teaser shots from a photo shoot (called “Interrogation“) with none other than Marco Blaze (droo-ooo-ool). The pics are a bit confrontational, but that was the point. The shutterbug is the gifted Justin Monroe, who snapped one of my favorite pics ever of Erik Rhodes (see the link below). Messrs. Killian and Blaze worked together as well on a promo campaign for Atomic Men. Click the pics to embiggen. CLICK HERE to follow us on Twitter.

Pitbull, Flava Works Tackle Content Pirates
March 19, 2010 | 10 Comments
A raid conducted by U.S. Marshals this week against a retailer in New York City yielded more than 10,000 counterfeit DVDs. Among the items seized were films produced by Pitbull Productions, which has filed a lawsuit against the retailer, B&B Bookstore (116 Christopher St.), for “engaging in the duplication, importation, distribution, and/or sale of unauthorized merchandise infringing on copyrighted and trademarked properties,” the studio said. “Pitbull worked tirelessly to obtain sufficient evidence for the Federal Court to approve the raid, including long-term undercover operations which yielded information that many of the major adult gay movie studios had DVDs that were being bootlegged,” studio spokesperson Bruce Fleming said. In related news, Miami-based Flava Works announced this afternoon that it has “initiated lawsuits against two alleged copyright infringers… to put an end to the rampant stealing of its as well as other adult companies’ copyrighted material.” Flava Works has sued the DGSource.com forum as well as IStackPorn.net. Bits & Bobs: Sexy Guys Gone Wild, Falcon’s ‘Heatwave’
March 19, 2010 | 3 Comments
New Release Desk: Falcon Studios is touting the reissue on DVD of their classic 1997 HEATWAVE, a scorching — pun not not intended, but I’m keeping it — sexpic released during the studio’s amazing late-’90s run. Check out this cast: Derek Cameron, Tom Chase, Adriano Marquez, Hawk McCallistar, Brad Michaels, Jeff Palmer, Buck Philips, Steve O’Donnell, Logan Reed, all of them at their virile prime. And that’s not even the entire cast. The new version is billed as an uncensored director’s cut that includes fisting and watersports. Such fetish sexplay was then considered outré for mainstream porn and shunted off to a mail-order-only version available directly from the studio. Times have changed… Mantra Films is giving another promo push to their compilation BEST OF GUYS GONE WILD 2009: PLATINUM EDITION, which features young bucks whipping out their dangly bits and working themselves to climax, something of a departure for this sub-genre of all-male adult entertainment. Their casting department has quite an eye for sexy, hung young men, all of whom are billed as amateurs. But many will be familiar to those Constant Readers with a roving eye…

Porn Studs Contend for Escort Awards Tonight
March 19, 2010 | 5 Comments
The 4th annual International Escort Awards — the “Hookies” — will be awarded tonight in New York. As we wrote last month, tonight’s gala follows regional contests over the past several months in Chicago, Florida, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris and San Francisco. Performer Raven O is scheduled to host the Hookies at Club Rebel (251 W. 30th Street). Lots of our boys are up (so to speak) for citations in a variety of categories. See the link below for a complete list. The Best Porn Star Escort nominees are Rafael Alencar, Avi Dar, Derrick Hanson, Harry Louis, Junior Stellano and Christian Wilde, while Drew Cutler (Mr. Los Angeles) and Tommy Defendi (Mr. Chicago) are in contention for the marquee category, Mr. International Escort. The awards are presented by Rentboy in association with BPX: Black Party Expo Weekend, Cybersocket, FabScout Entertainment and Fleshjack. CLICK HERE for the official Hookies website and a trailer for tonight’s shindig. (I’ve seen that vintage B&W footage of a floppy haired guy flexing his biceps in a bathroom mirror, but can’t place it right now.)

Quotable: Liking Dicks, But Not Dudes
March 19, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Quotable: “You are just kinky. A lot of people who are MTFs and FTMs today are not getting genital reassignment surgery. After arguing all this time that what’s in your trousers isn’t determinative of who you are or what your gender is — gender is in the brain — a lot of people are realizing that they can keep the genitalia that they were born with — that functions — and identify as the gender they truly feel and are, male or female… What you’re responding to is the maleness, the masculinity of these FTMs and that kind of rounds their pussies up to something you might consider fucking because of everything it’s attached to. You are really the equivalent of the straight dude who is sleeping with trannies or turned on by tranny porn. Because he likes dick — what he doesn’t like is dudes. And here’s a dick that’s attached to a woman. Yahtzee! You’re attracted to men and here’s a man with a pussy. That’s a pussy where you will go, or consider going. Let me know how it is, ’cause I ain’t going there. Send me a postcard.”

Cal/OSHA to Form Adult-Biz Advisory Committee
March 18, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Press Release Roundup: The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) will form an advisory committee to explore amending state regulations governing the adult entertainment industry, according to a press release issued this afternoon by advocacy org the Free Speech Coalition (FSC). The decision was made in response to a petition filed in December by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), which has waged a lengthy, often rancorous campaign calling for state governments to legally mandate the use of condoms on all adult film sets. Today’s Cal/OSHA board meeting was attended by FSC’s Executive Director Diane Duke and lobbyist Ignacio Hernandez, Adult Industry Medical spokesperson Dr. H.A. Aronow, performer Angelina Armani and First Amendment attorney Paul Cambria. It appears no representatives from the all-male side of adult were present. “I’m glad they’re convening a committee. I hope that they choose someone responsible from the adult community to participate and I’m hopeful that, eventually, some workable regulations will be put in place,” Mr. Cambria said. Adult-biz reps as well as AHF members were questioned by Cal/OSHA board members and allowed to offer commentary prior to the vote to form the advisory committee. “The voice of the industry was heard,” said Ms. Duke. As well, “a process has begun that can finally address blood-borne pathogen standards in an industry-appropriate way.” The process of devising and approving any new or revised amendments would take approximately two years, she said.

Beauty Shots: Aybars, Derrek Diamond
March 18, 2010 | 6 Comments

Press Release Roundup: Two additional installments of the promo Q&A series with cast members of the forthcoming two-part sexpic TALES OF THE ARABIAN NIGHTS have been posted to the official Raging Stallion Studios blog. And they just happen to be centered on two droolworthy new faves of the chafing GPTimes staff: clean-cut hunk Derrek Diamond — he of the world-class ass and thick cock — and sultry newcomer Aybars. Mr. Diamond notes he had been with only one other guy before jumping into the all-male skin biz. He wants a potential partner to be “intelligent, confident and inspire me to be a better man, too.” He also lo-ooo-oves that that we love watching him. The singly named Aybars is of Turkish descent who currently lives in Munich with two boyfriends — yep, two of ‘em. “I think we are a nice triple,” he says. Sounds fine to me. He was discovered online at Cam4 by helmer Chris Ward and notes ARABIAN NIGHTS costar Conner Habib is “absolutely my type. The shooting with him was like a fairy tale, just beautiful and like a dream. I just played myself in the scene and enjoyed it.” CLICK HERE for the RSS blog.

Michael Lucas Op-Ed Examines LGBT Oppression
March 18, 2010 | 7 Comments
Press Release Roundup: Performer-mogul Michael Lucas has another op-ed published on the Advocate.com website — his third in recent months, plus a brief Q&A — dealing with issues of LGBT community activism. The essay is titled “Celebration of Courage Not So Courageous” and details Mr. Lucas’ disappointment with the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC). He and his partner recently made a donation to the cause and attended a recent fundraiser. “It was a nice event… there were pretty views from the penthouse at New York University’s Kimmel Center, white wine and a serious, professional crowd.” Awards bestowed that night to Rep. Barney Frank and advocacy org Colombia Diversia “were certainly well-deserved,” Mr. Lucas observes. However, he was left “unimpressed… and deeply disappointed” over the what he perceives as the IGLHRC’s failure to address “the places where the real atrocities against LGBT people take place today — the countries oppressed by Islam: for example, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the Palestinian territories.” He cites a number of human rights violations and atrocities, and notes “(n)owhere else in the world, since the end of the Third Reich, has such systematic oppression and extermination been committed against gays and lesbians.” He does acknowledge the IGLHRC “has staff assigned to this area, so the organization must know what goes on there, and for all I know, it has useful programs in the region. If it does, the group prefers to keep silent about it. So why does the region which today is most cruel toward gay and lesbian people get a free pass?” CLICK HERE to read the entire op-ed. At post time, about a dozen comments had been left, several criticizing the Advocate for allowing someone in Mr. Lucas’ profession to express an opinion.
