Jeremy Bilding Tackles Condoms, Testing in Porn

[Edits 7:45 p.m.] Performer Jeremy Bilding has a post up on his official blog titled “Condoms, Tests and Where You Think You’re Putting That Cock” which examines condom usage and STI testing in both all-male and straight porn from his perspective as one of the few male performers who regularly films in both genres. As well, he typically is tested but is not required to wear a condom when he shoots straight porn. The reverse is generally the rule for gay porn: No STI testing but condoms required. He is speaking out to raise awareness levels of STIs among adult performer and their fans. “The risk is absolutely out there, and in all honesty, the only ‘safe sex’ is no sex. Travis James, Trent Locke Hit Vegas ‘Casting Couch’

Paradise Road) in Las Vegas. Next Door’s Trent Locke and Randy Blue’s Travis James will press the flesh and mix and mingle with fans. Maleflixxx Announces People’s Choice Nominees

Michael Lucas to Join Oxford Union Debate

Press Release Roundup: Performer-mogul Michael Lucas is set to weigh in during an upcoming debate at Oxford University. The June 3 event to be held in the Oxford Union will hear arguments for and against a motion titled “This House Believes That the Gay Rights Movement has Undermined Family Values.” The selection of Mr. Lucas to argue in proposition for the motion was due, in part, to a belief that his “resolute identification with the Jewish community, in the context of open homosexuality, would lend him strong opinions on the ‘family values’ around which our debate centres,” said debate organizer Andrew Lau. As well, he notes, Michael Lucas’ “vociferous advocation of safe sex in the gay community epitomizes attempts by the gay rights movement to appear more closely aligned to traditional mores, and to move away from old stereotypes.” In addition, “his position at the forefront of the gay entertainment industry can but make this message all the more compelling.” Lucas expressed gratitude over the offer to participate in a debate on this particular topic. “I will do my best to convey how the LGBT community has expanded and improved upon concepts about what it means to be a family,” he said. Lucas has been a periodic guest on the university lecture circuit. In February 2008, Lucas was invited to speak as a guest of the Associated Students of Stanford University about safer sex and related issues in the pornography industry. And in 2005, he addressed the GAYalies, a group of LGBT students at Yale University, for a Master’s Tea.

Bishop Blames Church Scandal on Porn

Bishop Felipe Arizmendi of Mexico has tried to shift blame to pornography for the flood of pedophilia and sex abuse scandals rocking the worldwide Catholic Church that has now touched even Pope Benedict XVI. “With so much invasion of eroticism, sometimes it’s not easy to stay celibate or to respect children,” he said. “If on television and on the internet and in so many media outlets there is pornography, it is very difficult to stay pure and chaste.” He also condemned “generalized sexual freedom” for clearing a path towards pedophilia. (“And then he logged back into Manhunt,” snarked blogger Joe Jervis.) Arizmendi gave the interview last Thursday in Mexico City during an annual gathering of Mexican prelates. Today is the fifth anniversary of Benedict’s election to the papacy.

Bijou Gets Wet with Vintage ‘Rivermen’

Press Release Roundup: Vintage erotica specialists Bijou Video has restored THE RIVERMEN and re-released it to DVD. Originally filmed in 1981 by Jaguar Productions, the sexpic was shot by Mark Aaron and toplines Roger Alan, Duke Benson, Jake Dillon, Burt Edwards, Leroy Jennings, John Neal, Al Peck, Steve Weld and Rick Weston. Per Bijou’s press notes, Mr. Benson had the main role of Ernie, “a simple redneck who returns to his hometown to try to solve the mysterious disappearance of his old lover, Rick. French-accented Burt Edwards plays Rick’s brother from Canada who just happens to show up at the same time. They team up to get local bad guy Andy (Leroy Jennings) to confess to killing Rick.” The action was filmed “along the Sacramento River and in a rundown rural California town,” a Bijou rep notes. The long-defunct (and still lamented) Manshots magazine notes on the new DVD insert, from its original review, that THE RIVERMAN serves as “a beautiful piece of erotic America… well-written, a very handsome cast, superbly photographed.
