Cybersocket-black-models-top-40-Kaos-Theory (July 2010)In case you missed the kerfluffle last week, Cybersocket magazine drew up a list of “40 Amazing Porn Stars,” or “the guys who have been shining most brightly on our radar during the first half of 2010.” The list is arranged alphabetically (by first name) and includes Jonathan Agassi, Drew Cutler, Avi Dar, Parker London, the Peters Twins and Nicco Sky (a great pack of gorgeous new stars) as well as such erotic luminaries as Rafael Alencar, Buck Angel, Brent Corrigan, Brent Everett, Owen Hawk, Johnny Hazzard, Wolf Hudson and Reese Rideout. So what’s the rumpus? There aren’t any black performers on the list. MOC Blog and other bloggers have called Cybersocket to task for this omission, naming Eddie Diaz, Jovonnie and Diesel Washington as worthy of inclusion (I’d also throw in Baby Star). So to follow the mag’s descriptive, which black performers have been shining most brightly in 2010? Chime in below and CLICK HERE for the Cybersocket article and full list of performers.

    Where to start?

Markell, DeAngelo Jackson, Skittlez, Snow Bunni… In fact too many Taggaz/Dawgpound/ThugBoy/PapiThugz models to mention.

And where were Daniel Marvin and Pedro Andreas, two of the hottest, most prolific stars in the business? I guess Nicco Sky fulfilled the Latino quota.

  2. Victor on July 26, 2010 12:36 pm

My G*d, where to begin? Let’s see, how about Raging Stallion exclusive Race Cooper or Flava Works’ Breion Diamond or D’Angelo Jackson? For a more thuggish tint, there’s Enigma on Thugoverload.com. Sexy, sexy, sexy Ace Rockwood from Michael Lucas Entertainment was clearly overlooked. How about entrepreneur Ty Lattimore or Channel One’s Aaron Ridge.

You know, frankly, the list is so long I’m embarrassed for Cybersocket. There is simply no excuse for this clearly racist tripe.

That said, thank you J.C. for bringing this to light again. Perhaps Cybersocket will address these glaring omissions and explain to its readers how, in 2010, they’ve managed to *cough* overlook some of the biggest, most talented, most likable stars in the gay porn business.

  3. Liberator Émigré Éire on July 26, 2010 1:06 pm

I’m surprised Cybersocket published Victor’s comment on their site. They didn’t publish mine, which simply echoed what Victor. So much for free speech in the USA.

  4. Victor on July 26, 2010 1:18 pm

They actually edited my comment. The original comment was: “Not a single black performer in the whole lot? Pathetic.” They dropped the last word, which is even pathetic-er. :P

  5. Phillip Bleicher on July 26, 2010 1:25 pm

It’s great to see Cody Kyler (one of our few white models) but why are the Black and Latin models missing? DeAngelo Jackson, Baby Star and many others should be on this list.

  6. ricci on July 26, 2010 2:19 pm

baby star definetely also snowbunni, hot twinks. TYLER JOHNSON should be there and back in the bizz, and the disocvery diego from randy blue?
And Naor Tal from michale lucaz?
Oh dear so many more worthy than some of the one smentioned

  7. Estelle on July 26, 2010 2:38 pm

Wolf Hudson doesn’t do gay porn anymore, Malachi Marx retired and was an awful performer, and is Lucky Daniels even doing gay porn anymore? He deleted his twitter and facebook accounts after his brother passed away.

Perhaps cybersocket is going to go the way of Unzipped.

  8. Liberator Émigré Éire on July 26, 2010 2:39 pm

Oh I forgot about Tyler Johnson. And Tyson Kobie, of course…

  9. JC Adams on July 26, 2010 3:07 pm

@Estelle — The “Cybersocket” piece was about performers from the first half of the year. Both Wolf Hudson and Lucky Daniels still have DVDs or web content circulating.

Glad to see Agassi on the list, but Naor Tal definitely should have been there. One of the best bottoms of recent vintage, along with Baby Star.

I am nuts for Tyler Johnson as much as the rest of you, but I think all of his stuff in 2010 have been web compilations for Randy Blue, right? Nothing new, unfortunately. No one seems to know what happened to him (I keep asking).

    Regards,
    JCA

  10. odawg on July 26, 2010 3:13 pm

Same on Cybersocket for not putting out a more diverse list! Race Cooper, Eddie Diaz, and Jovonnie should have been included on their list.

Not to toot my own horn (toot toot), but I, Chase Coxxx have been in 3 to 4 movies that all spent time in the #1 spot on AEBN during the 1st half of this year. Anonymous Sex Addicts was number 1 from April through early July. During June I was featured in the #1, 3, and #6 movies in the US, I don’t think any of the folks on that list can say same (correct me if I’m wrong)

If you prefer mainstream, then over looking Race Cooper is a gross injustice. Not only does he have a cutting edge website, a funny blog and great sex scenes, he’s also broken down racial barriers at RSS by becoming a casting director.

Santino Vega/Freakzilla has been ubiquitous in gay porn thus far this year and there was no mention of him either.

And the list continues. It’s clear to see that the majority of the industry still views us Black performers as scene fillers and extras. At some point things have to change and everyone, regardless of race should be noted and celebrated. Performers of color are not sexual fetishes. Sexual fetishism by definition is sexual attraction to objects, body parts or situations not conventionally viewed as being sexual in nature… I don’t think applies to skin color or race.

I can do without the accolades or recognition as long as the fans in the US (and elsewhere) keep my videos on the top 20 list…. That speaks much more volumes than any handpicked list.

PS: At the last Cyber Socket Awards, I only noticed 2 Black porn models in attendance; Diesel Washington & myself… Most others didn’t bother wasting money on travel and lodging just to be overlooked.

  13. Liberator Émigré Éire on July 26, 2010 4:23 pm

Damn! Chase Coxxx too. Fine fine fine!!

And did anyone mention Marc Williams? I’d be gutted if he wasn’t still “active”, as it were…

  14. Estelle on July 26, 2010 4:27 pm

True about Lucky JC but about the only think I saw Wolf Hudson do this year was a scene with A.J. Irons that didn’t exactly get much publicity or positive reviews.

It appears that most of this list is comprised of cybersocket sponsors, much like their award winners.

  15. Chase Coxxx on July 26, 2010 4:55 pm

I also find it amazing that for as long as Flava has been around, it took signing a White bottom for them to be accepted in this dysfunctional microcosm of gay porn… Meanwhile, I am always asked if I know Breion Diamond when traveling abroad.

The only Blacks that seem to get any recognition are my multi ethnic and/or my lighter skinned brothers. I call this Obamarism… Preferring the Baracks over the Michelles,(read between the lines on that one).

I applaud all the blogs that have opened up dialog on this much needed to be discussed topic.

  16. Jamie on July 26, 2010 6:22 pm

A couple of brief notes… Regarding Chase’s claim that his movies spent so much time on AEBN’s top list, I’m sorry to report that as soon as I (and others) publicly made the claim that the list was the most accurate available, I have it on fairly good authority that they stopped arranging the movies by popularity and let Anon sit at the top of the list — alphabetically, anyway — for far longer than it was the most-watched. Sad. And, I’m sorry I mentioned this in a public venue, as it was very helpful information.

Second, the idea that there were racial barriers at Raging Stallion is laughable. They have been among the most racially-diverse studios in the industry.

Finally, shame on Cybersocket. Headed towards Unzipped-land, indeed.

  17. gpcrush on July 26, 2010 6:26 pm

I’m honestly surprised no one has even mentioned Austin Wilde not being on the list. In addition to the lack of black men on the list, I felt some of the descriptions were horribly dated as if the person writing them didn’t have a clue what some of their “amazing” porn performers had been doing in the last six months let alone the last year.

The entire piece is a travesty in my opinion.

  18. Chase Coxxx on July 26, 2010 9:01 pm

Wow Jamie, aren’t you a snarky mofo. Instead of focusing on the blog post about the lack of Blacks, you instead are concentrating on my opinions…you’re all up in my thongs with your comments.

Breaking down racial barriers refers to the fact that there are not many Blacks working behind the camera in mainstream gay porn. You chose to infer that I was implying RSS was somehow racist when clearly I was speaking about administrative positions and not on screen talent… After all, they’ve casted me before. Seems your motives for leaving a comment were purely spiteful. I doubt you’re sorry about your snark and I could care less you were, but I will verify your claims with my contact people at AEBN.

In the future, when you attempt to rebut me, make sure you properly comprehend my words first.

  19. Tre Xavier on July 26, 2010 9:07 pm

Well, the comment I posted on MOC Blog is actually a the same comment I posted on Cybersocket FIRST. I copied and pasted it on MOC Blog as a precaution if their moderator(s) were to censor my point. Considering how many hours ago that was, it looks as if I made a smart move.

  20. Chase Coxxx on July 26, 2010 10:01 pm

If the AEBN list of most watched movies is based on Alphabetical order, than how does one explain the current movie in the #1 position? Eagerly awaiting for a response from my contact at AEBN.

  21. Liberator Émigré Éire on July 26, 2010 10:05 pm

Tre – I left some critical comments too. They censored Victor from MOC and totally omitted both you and I.

I think we can safely assume they aren’t interested in what’s right.

Again, props to MOC Blog and Gay Porn Times for giving this story coverage.

  22. Liberator Émigré Éire on July 26, 2010 10:14 pm

Chase Coxxx – the contact on your site doesn’t work, there’s no “To” on the entry field. Trying to get at ya!

did wolf hudson leave porn : hurray!!
I’m a sucker for Lucky Daniels and where’s the hottest of them all: topher di maggio??
Baby Star, Snowbuni and Naor Tal have my votes too for the hottest bottom champs, so does Angelo Marconi for hos delicious tush and i still count jesse santana’s ass a divine creation too.

  24. Elizabeth Young on July 27, 2010 8:35 am

All I can do is shake my head and go WTF?! Someone already mentioned him but what about Race Cooper, one of Raging Stallion’s new exclusives and production guys? Man, oh man, I get down off my cloud for a second and the world has gone berserk. I’m going back to my cloud. This is too much! ;-) Hope you guys sort this one out! (Is it the end of the world?…seems like it) Oi Vay!

  25. Chase Coxxx on July 27, 2010 11:34 am

In response to Jamie’s allegations that AEBN “stopped arranging the movies by popularity and let Anon sit at the top of the list — alphabetically, anyway — for far longer than it was the most-watched.”… A direct quote taken from an email response I received concerning this subject from my contact at AEBN this morning “The ones that are on the gay landing page on the right, are real time most watched, top to bottom, but if you click on the “see more” tab in that category, those are most watched but not necessarily in the order from top to bottom.”…. That means that the top 20 listed are accurate and real time. So Jamie your attempt to invalidate my my claims about having the #1 gay porn movie in the United States for nearly 3 months is baseless. Now I may be a d-list porn model with zero name recognition, but as far as Black men in gay porn goes, I’ve been attached more most watched movies in the first 1/2 of this year than any other Black gay porn model….. Sooooo in the words of female rapper Lil’ Kim “get ya facts straight or SHUT UP BITCH!!!” Oh yeah, It just pains me to have to take yet another anonymous, shit talking, inaccurate blogger to task in such a public way, seriously, I’m shedding tears, but it’s very helpful information.

  26. Jamie on July 27, 2010 12:36 pm

Well, once again it seems I touched a nerve. It was unintentional, and I have nothing against you, Chase. I was merely pointing out that I was wrong when a couple of weeks ago, on the thread discussing the various charts, I claimed AEBN’s list was the most accurate and reliable (as compared to the worthless GayVN/AVN lists, among others). I believe that the AEBN list was at one point the most accurate, and I don’t know why they decided to manipulate the list rather than let it be, but it is sad because there is so little accurate and/or unbiased information on gay product available.

What alerted me to the issue was that Anon had been at the top of the list for so long — uncharacteristically long, in fact — and then literally overnight it fell out of the top 10. Statistically, it is nearly impossible for a title to fall from the number one position to out of the top-10 so quickly. It would have required that 10 hot, straight-to-number-one titles debuted overnight… or the algorithm used to calculate the position changed. Or, are you trying to tell me a movie released by Treasure Island over 6 months ago suddenly became the most-watched title?

However, your comment about Race Cooper and Raging Stallion reads that you think he broke down racial barriers at RS and despite the ambiguity of your statement, it is still laughable as RS has had numerous administrative positions filled by a racially diverse group long before Cooper joined them. Now, it’s rare for me to offer RS accolades, but in this case I am aware of the makeup of their crew, and they are among a small group of studios in this industry that are committed to diversity both in front of the camera, and behind. If what you meant to say was that Cooper broke down racial barriers in the industry specifically creatively or administratively, then that is what you should have said (although I would have still disagreed, as I’ve personally known and known of black men working behind the camera).

And that was and is my point, which is pointedly on topic, that Cybersocket overlooked the increasing racial diversity of the industry whether cast or crew. I may present my opinions with a heavy dose of snark, but frankly, skepticism, doubt and outright sarcasm is the only way to deal with this industry.

  27. Chase Coxxx on July 27, 2010 1:14 pm

    Jamie,

“I may present my opinions with a heavy dose of snark, but frankly, skepticism, doubt and outright sarcasm is the only way to deal with this industry.”…. Said the anonymous blogger. It’s safe to talk crap behind the safety of a keyboard. I have no respect for that. I choose to give Cooper accolades for his positions at RSS. You may think a minute number of Blacks on the production side is sufficient, but as a Black performer, I don’t, so whenever a Black person moves up in the ranks, I celebrate it. Loud and proud. Your nit picky view won’t change this.

I’ll close this subject by saying that true, honesty, respectful, unbiased reporting is the best way to deal with this industry. Axe grinding, anonymous blogging, pay for props and shit talking can not be justified as ways to deal with this industry. Try again.

  28. Jonathan on July 27, 2010 3:23 pm

People let’s get real it is a just a list of as Cybersocket put it “Our favorite porn stars” to call them racist is so ignorant and uncalled for! If you don’t like the list make your own!

  29. Jamie on July 27, 2010 4:01 pm

Chase, two points: post your real name, or shut the fuck up; and, stop putting words in my mouth.

    Enough said.

  30. Estelle on July 27, 2010 6:00 pm

Jonathan must work for cybersocket. Lets see no black performers win any of their awards and no black performers are listed as their favorite performers. Tell us Jonathan what is ignorant about pointing out the obvious racism and lack of diversity of their list.

  31. angel on July 27, 2010 6:36 pm

im not gonna go on a long rant … i have a blog for that ….

    its really sad though.

it saddens me . i have so much faith in this industry but time and time again i get disappointed.

so, just to be clear …. “our favorite porn stars” would speak for all of cybersocket right?

guess its just that err … “preference” thing huh ?

  32. Chase Coxxx on July 27, 2010 7:05 pm

    Jamie,

Now you’re just being silly. Just how in the hell is a porn model being anonymous because they use a moniker/stage name?… Makes about as much sense as that raggedy Cyber Socket list and your worthless comments on this topic…. You’re grasping at straws Lamie (not a typo).

  34. Jonas on July 27, 2010 9:53 pm

This is, shamefully, all too expected. As a former Grabby award voter, I vociferously demanded that we recognize black performers. A few years ago I worked up a lather telling the committee that we are Chicago, not goddamn LA or Hollywood for Chrissakes.

That year, Diesel was awarded hottest cock. The following year, he was best performer. And this year, of course, he was a host. Every awards show has its shortcomings, but I am proud that here in Chicago our awards are no longer “white only” affairs.

BTW, Diesel, with his creativity and hard work, earned every award he got from us, and I look forward to seeing the Grabbys continuing to be the inclusion leader among awards shows.

I was also very proud of Titan a few years ago, when they paired Diesel and Markus Ram in a scene. Of course it was hotter than hell, but think…how many times have you seen two black men pair off in a major studio porn flick? I thought that scene should have been nominated, but it didn’t make the cut. Reportedly, the director of that movie asked Ram before the scene if he really wanted to do it.

I thinks it’s great they all went ahead and did it, because, hot is hot, regardless of the color of the performers involved. But it also says tons about what the business side thinks viewers will and won’t accept. Kudos for busting down that barrier.

I always wondered if Cory Koons is Amer-Asian. I always hoped that if he was, he’d open THAT door. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s done enough of note yet.

I suppose a real marker these days will be when Collin does a film in the far east, or when a major studio finds a breakout asian star. But I’m not holding my breath.

Tyler Johnson, Eddie Diaz, Baby Star, Snowbunni : no one can beat those…….

  36. Jonathan on July 28, 2010 3:58 pm

Racist I guess the year before they weren’t and no sorry I don’t work for Cybersocket.. I actually work for a studio that advertises in it though! oH and guess what I am black.. I am offended that my Irish friends were left off.. They must hate Irish porn stars too .. grow up! Did you know we lost a good porn star yesterday? Lets focus on that.. and how tragic.. you queens get so amped up about everything.. it must be racist .,. whatever get a life!

  37. Estelle on July 29, 2010 11:30 am

Sure you are Jonathan, sure you are. Did you know that this thread isn’t about the porn star that died? Lets focus on one topic at a time shall we? “Jonathan” try and be a little less transparent before when making up bullshit. Try making a point and having something to back it up.

  38. Warren Bullock aka Baby Boy on July 29, 2010 2:30 pm

I’m Completely Appalled! Maybe this is why the ethnic section of Cybersocket awards is sooooo Small. I wonder what if All Black Porn Performers Boycott porn and see the limited amount of porn that could be produced. We are not an endangered species but a commodity to Porn, BELIEVE IT or Not. Some of us actually retire from porn due to situations like this.
