It was a very good Friday night for Raging Stallion Studios. The San Francisco-based studio took four of six GayVN Awards noms for FOCUS/REFOCUS, including best picture. It’s their third consecutive win in the marquee category (after GRUNTS in 2008 and TO THE LAST MAN in ’09). The only categories FOCUS/REFOCUS lost were Best Group Scene and Best Actor, where nominee Cole Streets lost to Raging Stallion stablemate Logan McCree in THE VISITOR. However, it was Channel 1 Releasing who came out on top among all companies with a total of six wins, thanks in part to labels Rascal Video and All Worlds Video: Best Solo Performance (Adam Killian from TAKEN), Best Group Scene (BLACK BALLED 7: JAIL SLAMMED) and Best-Renting Title of 2009 (STEVEN DAIGLE: XXX-POSED) as well as Best Affiliate Program, Live Webcam/Web Show and Web-Based Marketing. Among performers, Brent Corrigan won three out of four nominations, while Brent Everett and Matthew Rush took home two apiece. CLICK HERE for the full list of winners…

Talk about a list of OLD movies. Timing is everything. These movies are so old now no one cares.

100% predictable, not one single ‘upset’, not one interesting turn of events, in other words BORING. But, when the presenters of the awards show also owns Raging Stallion could the results have been any different? No. It must feel great to walk away with purchased awards, its nothing to be proud about.

GAYVN doesn’t own Raging Stallion, the judges decide by committee who is nominated and who wins. Awards dont sell movies. Naked Sword and AEBN company produced the entertainment. The only reason Raging Stallion keeps winning this category is because most companies stopped making big budget plotted movies an opted for the safe investment, all sex. There were very few titles in this category that actually qualify in my opinion. If it were just 2 or 3 years ago most of these titles would be in the best all sex category. Maybe the recessed economy has forced other producers to give up making big story driven xxx movies, or maybe the category needs to redefined. Either way Raging cant win a 4th year but it wont stop them from trying… and at least they keep trying to make big movies for the fans. I wish other companies would become more inspired and step up the game too.

Why? Who really cares, except the studios and the people who make this crap. The whole gay porn industry, people and content is BORING! We are over-saturated and you all take yourselves too seriously. Please, enough already.

RS won everything for the one reason only- they are owned by NS and AEBN.And NS is the sponsor.

  6. StevenLover on September 26, 2010 8:52 am

Steven. You are 100% right. There’s zero reason for Raging Stallion to feel proud. Maybe 10 years ago this would have been a major accomplishment but when your studio is owned by the same company that was the official sponsor of the awards show (which means AEBN/NakedSword/Raging Stallion made the show possible from a finacial standpoint) there is nothing to brag about.

Brent C walked away with 3 awards ?
How many votes does Grant Roy get ?

Raging Stallions won best movie again… OMG… what a surprise. I would never have guessed… never. I’m so excited..

    NOT!

What is with this industry? What I don’t get is the level of desperation some of these studios sink to that continue to participate in an “awards” show that is so pathetically fraudulent in hopes of collecting the crumbs that Raging Stallions don’t want.

What morons don’t “get” the fact that AEBN financed the show and put Naked Swords name on it and then handed out as many awards as they thought they could to themselves. What I really don’t understand is why AEBN would foot the bill for this joke of a show?

Will it happen again next year? I seriously doubt it… What with most porn companies not participating this year and the fact that they had to offer last minute tickets half price (really fucking all the suckers who paid full price) and then handing out free tickets to try and fill the joint up.

    Unfortunate
    Sad
    And pathetic

Raging Stallion produces primarily low budget movies filmed on one set in a warehouse. There is nothing high budget or high production value about a movie like Focus where 1/2 of the footage is from a $200 consumer video camera and the sets are people’s apartments. Putting out a two disc set on two DVD 5s when everything would fit on one high quality DVD 9 is low budget and low class.

We are not exactly huge fans of Michael Lucas but he managed to get mainstream attention for his Israel movies. I mean, Chichi we love you but you did yet another bondage-light porno. But at least the Israel movies from Lucas Ent. represented something new and the mainstream noticed.

Most of the winners here are so silly its hard to choose which ones are a joke or not.
Hall of fame Matt Rush ? Um what ???
Who do you have to blow to win that one.

  12. TJ on September 26, 2010 2:33 pm

How much money do you think that show cost?

  13. Pornoslut on September 26, 2010 8:28 pm

So which film should have won? If your favorite film wasn’t nominated, support your reasons why your film was great and should have been picture of the year.

  14. Jamie on September 27, 2010 11:06 am

@Raging Fan: The GayVNs were nearly canceled until AEBN/NakedSword/Raging Stallion stepped up to sponsor the “ceremonies” which was not exactly altruistic given the expectations they had for the money they’d spent on their “movie event of the year” (as their promo poster proudly proclaims). Apparently what escapes you is that it’s AEBN’s money they’re spending on the RS big-budget movies — it was from the very beginning when Ward & co borrowed the funds to shoot To The Last Man, then Grunts, and went belly-up, forcing AEBN to take ownership of RS to collect. Not that the strategy hasn’t benefited AEBN. They own the most (self) awarded studio in the industry.

What should be of interest to everyone here is that the stars of the epic were MIA (aside from Steve Cruz, AEBN employee). Gee, I wonder why that is?

I find it pathetically desperate that the gay studios continue to enable avn/gayvn, aebn/naked sword/raging stallion and their awards show. the best part is the red faced denial that there’s anything inappropriate about this blatant conflict of interest. The industry needs to get a backbone and just say ‘fuck you’ we’re not paying for your awards show any more. Was it just me or did anyone else not see Chris Steele, John Rutherford, John Bruno or Michael Lucas, any others not in attendance?

  16. NoNo on September 27, 2010 1:26 pm

so you missed elephant in the room. chi chi’schannel 1 won quite many awards but that twas because gayvn so desperate that she not come they paid money for her to DJ afterparty and be at awards show and they owe her awards to. they think chi chi not there would kill awards. award show was fixed.
