PacSun Expands Into Kink with SM Gods

Cop Fired for Porn Past Leads Protest Rally

Ex-cop, ex-reality-TV contestant and onetime adult-film performer Michael Verdugo is in the headlines again this week. On Wednesday, he led a group of several dozen activists in a protest against workplace discrimination outside the Hollywood, Florida city hall. Verdugo was fired from his job with the Hollywood police department in early 2009 following the revelation that he had appeared in a 1996 bondage film; at the time of his dismissal, Verdugo was a contestant on the HGTV reality-competition series Design Star (see the link below for background). Mr. Verdugo has said it didn’t occur to him to mention the 15-minute vignette when he became a police officer in 1999, nor in 2001 when he joined the Hollywood police department. “Hollywood has maintained it did not discriminate [and] claimed it fired Verdugo for not disclosing previous employment,” reports a Miami Herald newspaper columnist. “Verdugo says police brass wanted him fired because of widespread news that he is gay. Before the video became public, no one cared about his sexual orientation, [he] said.” In August, a panel with the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement unanimously ruled Verdugo should be allowed to keep his police certification. They also imposed a one-year probationary period and required him to attend a state-approved ethics course. His labor case will be heard in Broward County court on November 30. AIM: Partners Exposed to HIV Are Testing Negative

An official from AIM Healthcare told AVN yesterday that all identified exposed partners of a new HIV-positive performer have been tested “at least once” and have “thus far tested negative,” said administrator Jennifer Miller. Further testing is underway and final results are not expected for several additional weeks. AIM did not indicate the number of individuals they have identified as first- and second-generation exposed partners, nor has the clinic released any information about the HIV-positive performer’s gender or work history within the adult industry. Steven Daigle Arrested Following WeHo Brawl

[Edits: 10/20/10.] My colleagues at The Sword are reporting this afternoon that performer Steven Daigle was arrested and jailed by West Hollywood sheriffs last night following a brawl with boyfriend and fellow model Trent Locke outside The Abbey nightclub. Mr. Daigle was treated for injuries at a local hospital and returned for booking early this morning on a misdemeanor charge; he remains in custody with bail posted at $20,000. According to the Sword, Mr. Locke spent time in the hospital for observation; at post time, he had Tweeted that he is at home. Both were apparently at the Abbey for a viewing party celebrating Daigle’s cameo in last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Stay tuned for further developments. Crime Blotter: Court Upholds Cuadra Murder Conviction

A state appellate court in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence for ex-adult performer and producer Harlow Cuadra in the 2007 death of Cobra Video producer Bryan Kocis. Mr. Cuadra, 29, “sought a new trial claiming mistakes were made by the judge, Peter Paul Olszewski Jr., before and during the two-week trial in March 2009,” reports The Times Leader. Mr. Cuadra’s co-defendant, Joseph Kerekes, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a life sentence; Olszewski lost a reelection bid in last November’s elections. Among his challenges, Cuadra claimed secretly recorded audio tapes played in court “violated Pennsylvania’s wiretap law despite the recordings taking place in California.” Performer-mogul Brent Corrigan was one of two men who taped those conversations. “In a five-page ruling issued on Oct. 14, the Superior Court upheld Cuadra’s conviction and sentencing, stating Olszewski’s rulings before and during Cuadra’s trial were ‘well detailed and well-reasoned,’ ” the paper reports. ” ‘We can find no error in its factual findings and corollary legal conclusions.’ ” The Time Leader notes Cuadra is currently serving out his sentence at the State Correctional Institution at Coal Township in Northumberland County.
