Cody Castagna Arrested, Jailed in Florida

Crime Blotter: Ex-performer Cody Castagna was arrested and jailed in Tampa yesterday and charged with grand theft third degree and fraudulent use of a credit card. Internet records indicate he has been released. The sometime porn model achieved national notoriety in late 2007 and ’08 when his assignation with Washington state lawmaker Richard Curtis—married, Republican, antigay—resulted in Curtis’ abrupt resignation following lurid newspaper accounts involving cross-dressing, bareback sex and blackmail. Mr. Castagna faced an extortion rap, but those charges were dropped when Curtis, who was said to be living out of state, could not be located (see the link below for background). Soon after the scandal began making headlines, eagle-eyed porn fans recognized Castagna, now 30, from Gae Boy Video‘s SEATTLE FRAT BOYZ and A SEATTLE WET SUMMER as well as DAMON BLOWS AMERICA 3: SAN DIEGO from Treasure Island Media.

AEBN Buys, Merges Falcon Studios with Raging Stallion

Press Release Roundup: VOD network AEBN has acquired venerable all-male production house Falcon Studios and merged it with Raging Stallion Studios. Both companies as well as VOD membership site NakedSword and affiliate program Gunz Blazing will form the “gay division” of AEBN, per a press announcement made on Sunday. Raging Stallion’s Chris Ward will now oversee both studios, with James Hansen, Falcon’s current president, as chief financial officer. DVD distribution deals will currently remain unchanged. As well, Next Door Entertainment‘s recent deal to manage the Falcon membership site remains in place. “Our intent is to keep the important Falcon and Raging Stallion brands as individual entities, each with their own look and feel,” said Ward. Falcon includes the flagship line plus Jocks Studios and Mustang Studios (no word as yet on the fate of Falcon International or Massive Studio). Labels alongside the main Raging Stallion line include Fetish Force, Fisting Central, Hairy Boyz, Hard Friction, Monster Bang Video, Twinks.com and several others. All-Male Studios, Models Among XBIZ ‘Newsmakers’

Industry publication XBIZ has named its top newsmakers of 2010, among them a number of all-male studios, filmmakers and websites. Although XBIZ staff writers note the explosion of 3D in the porn world, Dominic Ford, the first gay adult studio to shoot in the format, is not cited in that entry. The label, however, does merit its own slot. Additional all-male studios on the list for various reasons—from productivity to legal filings—include Bel Ami (cited via marquee star-turned-director Lukas Ridgeston), COLT Studio Group, Corbin Fisher, Drake Rock Media (through new owner John Jacobs), Euro Media Distribution, Flava Works, Hot House Entertainment, Jet Set Men, NakedSword, Pacific Sun Entertainment, Raging Stallion Studios, TitanMen Rough (mentioned via star-director Tony Buff) and UK Naked Men. Kink.com is cited without a notation of its prolific all-male sites. Raging Stallion earned a second spot on the list via its award-winning sexpic FOCUS/REFOCUS—the only all-male blue movie mentioned by itself—while PacSun earned a second mention via its distro deal with UK Naked Men. Also cited was JRL Charts Online. Entries for VOD network AEBN and leased content provider SexEntertain make note of their deals with gay adult. Novelty lines geared towards the all-male market merit a mention in the Fleshlight entry but not those for CalExotics (which carries the COLT Studio line) or Topco Sales (the Dirk Yates, Rascal Toys and LaRue-branded lines and a Michael Lucas line). Press Release Roundup: Organizers of the 11th Annual Cybersocket Web Awards have announced a venue and show date. The ceremony will unspool Monday, February 7, 2011 at The Factory in West Hollywood. Red carpet arrivals are scheduled for 9:00 p.m. prior to the ceremony at 10:00 p.m. Boozing and schmoozing will continue until 2:00 a.m. Nominations in 38 categories—12 Industry Choice Awards, 26 Surfer’s Choice Awards—were announced last month; GPTimes is included among 26 nominees for Surfer’s Choice: Best Porn Blog. Titan Media, C1R Set VOD Trade Agreement

Press Release Roundup: All-male studios Titan Media and Channel 1 Releasing (C1R) have struck a deal to share content between each other’s PPM-VOD websites. The first title under the new arrangement is C1R’s HAZZARD ZONE starring Johnny Hazzard, which hits TitanMen On-Demand and TitanXXX on Monday. Other titles culled from the All Worlds Video, Catalina Video and Rascal Video labels will soon follow. Meanwhile, C1R.com and MaleVault will have access to the TitanMen Fresh films and the ManPlay series. “A limited number of titles from each studio will be available at any given time, with new content releasing on a weekly basis,” notes the press announcement. Bruce Cam, Titan’s president, praised the filmography of C1R partner Chi Chi LaRue. “I’m glad we’ll be able to share some of his films with our members,” he said. “Being able to share and cross-pollinate content is a win-win for both companies and for our customers.” Titan VP Keith Webb notes the deal is a winner for all involved. “Each company will be able to expand its VOD and PPM offerings, featuring new genres, directors and performers. GPTimes Housekeeping: A quick note of apology if any of our Constant Readers couldn’t access the site for a few hours the other night. We had some script problems and as we worked on that issue, a plug-in gremlin that had been biding its time decided to jump out and make itself known. Oy, gevalt… But we used that time with the hood open to tinker with our search function. It should be working more efficiently now. I was waiting on fixing that bug until we launched GPTimes v4—shhh, don’t tell anyone—but my tech guy decided he wanted to tackle it now. Thanks, as always, for your time and attention.

Naked Sword ‘Gay Porn Art Film’ Snags TLA Nom

Press Release Roundup: The short film I Want Your Love is among one dozen finalists in the TLA Gay Short Film Contest sponsored by mega-retailer TLA Video. Fans are invited to visit the contest website, watch the nominated films and vote for their favorite. The deadline is December 31 and the winner receives a $1000 prize. The 14-minute I Want Your Love features graphic sex in its exploration of two male friends who push the boundaries of their relationship. It was directed by Travis Mathews, with VOD membership site NakedSword producing and supplying promotional muscle. (Mr. Mathews has a second nominated erotic short titled In Their Room.) A feature-length version of I Want Your Love is scheduled to film in the spring. The short has been screened at numerous film festivals all year, including the Porn Film Festival Berlin. ‘Bear’ Mag’s Hairy Studs Expand National Reach

Press Release Roundup: The new issue of Bear Magazine is expanding its nationwide distribution to include Barnes & Noble. It will be the first such title to be offered by the chain. “It’s truly a milestone as we continue to broaden our reach and target the largely underserved masculine LGBT market,” said Editor in Chief Steven Wolfe. The venerable publication launched in 1987 but had gone dark by 2002. Six years later, it was purchased and dramatically revamped by Bear Omnimedia. The mag “put a name to a growing gay movement that had previously gone unnoticed: the unshaven, hyper-masculine male,” notes a press rep. The spring 2011 issue, no. 74, will be published in March. Further issues are set for publication in June, September and December, 2011. In addition to Barnes & Noble, the mag will be carried by Borders, Bookworld, Priape, Waldenbooks and other locations. Brandon Lee: Porn Star Chef

I’m a bit behind the curve on this story, but in case you missed it, our very own Brandon Lee—the “first famous Asian top,” as he is billed—now works as a caterer and chef in San Francisco. He was recently profiled by the SF Weekly and other local food sites where his blue-movie career, naturally, is the hook. This caused a bit of a flutter in the foodie blogosphere. Check it out: “These days, pending some more permanent gig, Lee is booked solid for parties by an all-gay clientele who clearly are getting a rise (ahem) out of announcing their porn star caterer on Facebook invites,” notes Grub Street.
