New Release Desk: ‘Voyeur Boys’

New Release Desk: Chicago-based Bijou Video will officially release the vintage Nova Studios sexpic VOYEUR BOYS to DVD following an extensive restoration. Earlier this month, Bijou announced the restoration and release of a quartet of Nova blue movies (see the link below for details). None have ever been released to the home entertainment market, either VHS or DVD. Nova was founded in 1976 and ran until the mid-’80s. VOYEUR BOYS was originally released to theatres in 1978 under Nova’s Nebula subsidiary label and features a cameo by legendary performer Jack Wrangler. Six vignettes feature “one horny stud after another getting off while he watches other guys have sex, whether in a movie theatre, a warehouse, through a bedroom window and from a balcony.” CLICK HERE for the Bijou website.

Ex-Pornster Heading for NYC ‘Million Dollar Listing’?

Today the Bravo cable network officially renewed a swath of its existing shows and unveiled a slate of upcoming series—including Million Dollar Listing: New York, which premieres later this year. “Manhattan’s most relentless realtors close multi-million dollar deals faster than a yellow cab runs a red light,” reads the press hype. “This docu-series sets out to prove that if you can make it/afford it here…well, you know the rest.” The series is notable to our Constant Readers for the expected presence of golden-boy Fredrik Eklund, whose charmed life includes an acclaimed stint as pornster Tag Eriksson. Bravo did not announce the cast, but the blogosphere was all over it just a few months ago (CLICK HERE for starters). Given Mr. Eklund’s blue-movie career was included in a glowing New York Times profile (see the link below), I doubt Bravo will be able to wipe it clean the way MTV appears to be trying to diminish the rather extensive XXX background of Real World: Las Vegas castmate Dustin Zito. Plus, Bravo dealt with this already in a roundabout fashion when they cast straight-porn superstud Jean Val Jean in their one-season wonder Chef Academy. ‘Adonis Factor’ Examines Gay Male Body Image

A new documentary called The Adonis Factor premieres this Saturday, April 2, on the Logo cable channel (check your local listings, as it’s not on the Logo website yet) and examines self-esteem and the struggle with weight and body image—either by extreme dieting or extreme muscle gain—in the gay community. Among those featured is pornster Marc Williams [pictured]. Some of our readers thought they spied Spencer Reed in other clips. Venerable Studio 2000 Closes Up Shop

Word began spreading last night that venerable Studio 2000 has closed up shop. “Studio 2000 has gone out of business,” reads a note on their splash page. “Our catalogue of titles will be available later this year from a new web site. Stay tuned for details. We thank your for your patronage these last 18 years.” The abrupt closure is sudden but not unexpected; S2K has been essentially dormant for several years, with only a handful of new titles imported from the Czech Republic and Brazil. In January the company closed its warehouse in San Francisco (see the link below). Constant Readers will recall I was their production manager from 2006-2008, taking over for Chad Donovan. I reached a company rep yesterday evening, who confirmed the closure has been in the works for some time. I’m told a deal for the back catalog will be announced next month. Joey Stefano Indie Biopic Approaches Starting Line

I had lunch yesterday in West Hollywood with Chad Darnell, a former casting director and indie filmmaker who is working on a biopic of erotica legend Joey Stefano. I’m reading the script now. Columnist and reviewer Mickey Skee is a main character alongside Sharon Kane and Chi Chi LaRue as well as Crystal Crawford, Geoffrey Karen Dior, Gender, Chris Green and others. Constant Readers with long memories will recall several of those names. The whole group comprised a gay porn “rat pack” that caroused from one end of the porn biz to the other from the late 1980s into early ’90s. That era came to end with Mr. Stefano’s death in November 1994. I wrote a cover story for the June 2000 issue of Unzipped—when it was still a biweekly publication—that examined Stefano’s growing legend. And that was 11 years ago! Mr. Darnell had that magazine in hand, along with everything else that’s been written about the late erotic idol. He has already interviewed most of the key real-life figures and casting is underway. Several well-known male actors have expressed an interest in the role and producers already have recognizable names committed to play Ms. Kane, Ms. LaRue and Mr. Skee. The Stefano role is a tough one; he exuded sensuality, masculinity, vulnerability and plain ol’ star wattage. That’s a package that you can’t buy; you’ve either got it or you don’t. The must-read Good Men Project has a blog post this morning about pegging. The story by Cooper Fleishman takes note of the recent rise of coverage in the blogosphere about straight guys who take it in the bum by a dildo-wielding woman. Spencer Reed Talks Sex, Love and Porn

Industry publication XBIZ has posted online an illuminating profile of musclebod Spencer Reed. Flava Works Wins Control of Pirate Domain Names

Press Release Roundup: Miami-based production house Flava Works has been granted a motion to seize a number of domain names whose owners were accused of using to pirate copyrighted Flava Works content. A studio rep cites “more than a dozen” domains including DGSource.com and the forum Gairoo.com are now under their control. The lawsuit had been filed last year, resulting in an injunction against the owner TaRon Wyche to post any Flava Works material, as well as a large default judgment (see the links below for background). Wyche did not appear before the judge despite a court order compelling him to do so. “I am pleased with [the] decision to forever stop this internet pirate from operating. It was also a nice surprise that the judge granted all domains to Flava Works for good,” notes CEO Phillip Bleicher. He notes Wyche began operating as SoGully.com in 2007. “After he drew attention from studios for his theft, he quickly changed to DGSource.com,” notes Mr. Bleicher, “followed shortly thereafter to LookLurk.com and finally to Gairoo.com.” The studio posts its filings online; CLICK HERE to read them.
