Last night—well, very early this morning—MTV replayed an infamous episode of their documentary series True Life titled “I Work in the Sex Industry” that features gay-for-pay porn stud Aaron James. I’m sure it repeats on a semi-regular basis, but last night’s rerun prompted some emails and Twittering. The show originally aired in February 2008. He is shown coming out to select family members about his profession and traveling to Las Vegas for the AVN Erotic Expo. Briefly making cameos are Dean Phoenix, who still pops in and out of the biz, Guy Parker (long since flown the coop) and Jesse Santana, who is back from a brief hiatus and better than ever. Poor Mr. James, handsome and plain-spoken, didn’t know it but he presaged the whole gay-for-pay debate that has divided fans and industryites over the past several years. Anyway, I’m not sure the guy appreciated the hype and attention that came with his few minutes of MTV fame. About a year later, he appeared on an episode of the Tyra Banks talk show centered on G4P porn actors, then vanished back into suburban obscurity. I checked with a Jet Set rep this morning, who told me they haven’t heard from James in some time now. See the link below for our original story.
