Collin O’Neal Teaching Suspension Hits Blogosphere

Itinerant performer-mogul Collin O’Neal is currently the subject of a tidal wave of blogosphere and news media chatter. Earlier this year, he was apparently suspended from his position as substitute teacher in the Miami-Dade public school system in South Florida when news of his porn career came to light. Mr. O’Neal, whose real name is Shawn Loftis, holds a master’s degree in public administration, and studied international relations—insert your own joke—as an undergrad. As our Constant Readers might recall, he sold his World of Men pro/am label and intended to leave the industry (see the links below). Then the suspension occurred in January, and he returned to erotica as a producer-director. I haven’t tracked down how this story has suddenly exploded across the blogosphere but it’s been picked up all over the place. Some outlets have also figured out Mr. Loftis has also achieved some face time as a CNN iReporter. “CNN doesn’t have a problem with Shawn Loftis’s big, gay porn career. Should Miami-Dade County Public Schools,” asked the Miami New Times. “Collin O’Neal fired from teaching job. In other news, Collin O’Neal was a math teacher?!” snarked a headline from Canada’s Xtra.com. “I don’t see how making some smut legally is in such bad conduct. Have they watched the movies? They’re really good. And he made the movies all around the world. The only people in the community who were involved were the ones with their pants around their ankles,” notes Gawker. “And at the time he started teaching, he wasn’t making porn anymore anyway. Does this mean that someone who once made some dirty movies can never be considered a upright citizen ever again?” At post time, as you can see, the suspension was among the rotating stories on the front page of AOL‘s news browser, exposing the story to millions. You do have to wonder what he was possibly thinking. He porn “career” was not long in the past! And in this age of facebook and everything else it was only a matter of time before he was revealed.

Who cares it just reminds us if we needed it that the Children in Education are the adults in charge of Miami Dade schools. And this is Florida one of the most brain dead states in the USA.
